MSNBC host Joe Scarborough did not react kindly to the network removing his show from the air Monday following the assassination attempt against former president Donald Trump.
Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski, his wife, addressed the situation Tuesday and accused MSNBC of lying to them about replacing the show with breaking news coverage of the fallout from the Trump assassination attempt. If MSNBC does that again, Scarborough said, he will leave the show and they can find a new host.
“We were told, in no uncertain terms on Sunday evening that there was going to be one news feed across all NBC news channels yesterday,” Scarborough said. “That did not happen.”

This is a scary moment in America, and we need a leader who won’t exploit the chaos. Someone who can strike just the right tone – with humanity, and moral clarity – that trickles down to other leaders in both parties, reminding us of our values, our better selves.
Joe Biden rose to the occasion. He expressed sincere empathy for Donald Trump and other victims of Saturday’s horrific attack, including a father killed while protecting his family from bullets. He called on all Americans to “lower the temperature in our politics,” and to reject violence in any form. He did his part, dialed it down,

Embattled Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle says she has no plans to resign, even after the stunning revelation that the agency decided not to guard the roof from which Thomas Crooks opened fire on former President Donald Trump because it was too slanted. “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” she told ABC News in a startling admission.“And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside,” she told the outlet.

Need a little convincing about the worthiness of J.D. Vance as President Trump's running mate?
Look no further than Sen. Mitt Romney's boiling hate of the guy.
From X:
“I don’t know that I can disrespect someone more than J. D. Vance,” Mitt Romney told me when he was running for Senate.
So much for civility. So much for Senate congeniality. That's a fellow Republican Senator of his, with whom he's now served in the Upper House for three years and he couldn't manage to muster a courteous word

In the 48 hours before he opened fire on former President Donald Trump, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks made a series of stops in and around his suburban Pittsburgh hometown. On Friday, he went to a shooting range where he was a member, and practiced firing, [Snip] The next morning, Crooks went to a Home Depot, where he bought a five-foot ladder, and a gun store, where he purchased 50 rounds of ammunition, the official said. The Biden campaign says former president Donald Trump’s decision to select Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate makes it “more clear than ever that our rights, our freedoms, and our democracy are on the line this November.”
The fearmongering rhetoric comes just two days after Trump survived an attempted assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pa.
Trump announced his VP pick on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, selecting Vance from a shortlist that reportedly included North Dakota governor Doug Burgum and Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
Vance, an Ohio-based venture capitalist and the author of the bestselling memoir Hillbilly Elegy, entered politics less than two years ago

Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey was convicted of federal corruption and bribery charges on Tuesday, Fox News reported. Menendez, who was indicted on Mar. 5, was convicted by a jury over his involvement in a bribery and corruption scheme with three New Jersey businessmen and the Egyptian government. The indictment was brought forth following an investigation and search of his New Jersey home, where authorities found over $480,000 in cash hidden throughout the property, a luxury vehicle purchased for his wife by the businessmen, and over $100,000 of gold bars, according to the indictment.

Enough about Joe Biden's mindless nastiness. I'll take my cue from Donald Trump and Biden himself and focus on policy this morning.
Specifically, let's talk about Joe Biden's mindless and nasty demagoguery on economic policies. Faced with the electoral consequences of his corrosive inflationary wave, especially in shelter costs, Biden has to come up with some promised policy solution. And that is ... federal rent control:
President Joe Biden is ready to propose a 5% cap on annual rent increases for tenants of major landlords as he tries to show he’s doing something about the high cost of housing, according to a person familiar with the plan.

US authorities obtained intelligence from a human source in recent weeks on a plot by Iran to try to assassinate Donald Trump, a development that led to the Secret Service increasing security around the former president in recent weeks, multiple people briefed on the matter told CNN.
There’s no indication that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin who attempted to kill the former president on Saturday, was connected to the plot, the sources said.
The existence of the intelligence threat from a hostile foreign intelligence agency — and the enhanced security for Trump — raises new questions about the security lapses at the Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and how a 20-year-old

The heartbroken widow of Corey Comperatore, the hero firefighter shot dead by a sniper at a Trump rally, wanted nothing to do with President Biden when he called after the tragedy, she told The Post.
“I didn’t talk to Biden,” Helen Comperatore said from her Pennsylvania home on Monday. “I didn’t want to talk to him. My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”
Corey Comperatore, a beloved volunteer firefighter and married father of two, was at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pa. on Saturday with his family when deranged sniper Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid was credited with “gaslighting at its finest” as she spun up a “universal kind of reaction” regarding the coverage of former President Donald Trump’s post-assassination attempt. (Snip) “And people are concerned and expressing concern that we won’t be the guardians of memory. And that we will allow Donald Trump as he is, you know, bathed in the glory and grandeur of his party, to rewrite himself as both a hero and a victim,” she said at one point during the coverage. The take prompted former cop and commentator Brandon Tatum to state, “Gaslighting at its finest. This

A local police counter-sniper team was stationed inside the building that Thomas Crooks crawled on top of to fire at and nearly kill former President Donald Trump, according to a shocking report.
The building was a “watch post” for local police snipers to scan for threats, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.
Sources told the Post that the local police sniper team was inside the building, but not on the roof — where Crooks climbed and waited for Trump to begin speaking before firing off eight shots, hitting Trump in the ear, killing a rally-goer, and wounding two others
