Firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed during the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said Sunday. Comperatore was one of the thousands of people who attended the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, part of Trump’s 2024 reelection effort. He died trying to protect his family, according to the governor. (Snip) “Corey was an avid supporter of the former president and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community,” the governor said. “I asked Corey’s wife if it would be okay for me to share that we spoke. She said ‘yes.’ She also

Very sad. Yet the vicious, evil assassin didn't care one whit about killing innocent bystanders. So, so evil....along with the evil, horrible, disgusting people who say they are sad that Trump wasn't killed.

I'm very sad that this good man is dead, but going to a Trump rally and getting killed accidentally isn't "heroic".
Words mean things and he did nothing. He might have been a genuine hero many times in his job as a fire fighter, they really are amazing people, but please, calling his actions that day heroic is just a bit sad and stupid on the part of the writers.

He threw is body over his family of "girls" to protect them. That makes him a hero in my book. I wonder if his family realizes that some people are calling this a staged crisis. It was all fake.

Trump being Trump, it will be more than a "call on the family."
Mortgage payoff and two college funds for the girls.

Why should the President and the leftist care about this poor hero victim? They have been talking about how evil MAGA Republicans are for 8 years. We should put together parts of Joe's speeches where he disparages MAGA Republicans and talks about how they are evil and out to destroy democracy. It should be run as a commercial asking who is responsible for the political climate we are in and for the assassination attempt.

#2, did you read why they were calling him a hero? Obviously not. He was protecting his loved ones and I believe it was a daughter and wife. If that was my husband, I would call him a hero. . .

Trump will go to the funeral, it will have a motorcade of HUNDREDS of firetrucks from across the country, be miles long...make national news. Firefighters ALREADY are big Trump supporters, this locks them up Nationally. But more importantly, it cements in the Families minds forever...HE WAS IMPORTANT! THEY are important, EVERY, individual, innocent civilian, is important, and that is what Trump is running on already.

Go Fund Me has over $1.4m for the victims of the assassination attempt. Overnight.
It would be in line with Trump's m.o. to offer a financial gift to the families involved.
As for attending the funeral, I would expect that the family would let officials know how public they wish for the service to be.
A number of years ago, a local civic leader passed away and he was a friend of Bush 43 (after Bush left the WH). 43 decided not to attend because he did not want to impose the security issues, etc. for the family.

He took the bullet the Secret Service was supposed to take. They should make him an "honorary" Secret Service Agent, immediately.

#2~ “...getting killed accidentally isn’t ‘heroic’ ... “he did nothing ...” / As appropriately and gratefully pointed out by #3,#4,#5,#10, retired Fire Chief Comperatore sacrificed his life by throwing himself over his wife and daughter to protect them from being killed.
Dictionary definitions of “hero” include: bold, brave, courageous, daring, self-sacrificing, supremely noble. This dear man is most certainly a hero.
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) This dear man gave his life for his wife and daughter.
Rest in peace dear hero Corey Comperatore. May the peace of God be with your family.
