In theory, there will be two presidential debates between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The first one is supposed to be on the 27th of this month and the second is scheduled for September 10. It takes a long time to replenish the presidential Adderall supply after a big appearance and Biden needs his nap time too. The consensus among my friends and colleagues is that neither debate will happen. Biden can't speak English when reading from a teleprompter, his handlers can't have high hopes for his extemporaneous oratorical skills these days.
There are any number of weak excuses Team Joe could use to get out of it. Many believe

Trump's so-called problem is exactly why people like him. He tells it like it is. No BS. No political jargon. No saying you're going to do one thing, then doing something completely different. He's straight forward. If someone has a problem with that, it's not Trump's fault, it's yours.

Odds are that Joe's handlers will step aside declining to 'debate a convicted felon'. They frankly didn't expect an acceptance by Trump. When he saw through their game this was the second line of defense. You might say 'How did they know there will be a guilty verdict'? Ha!

I agree with the author that, if the debates take place, he’s going to be bombarded with gotcha questions like the one Megan Kelly, of Fox News no less, asked him about calling women fat. I might suggest providing short concise answers (“only Rosie O’Donnell”) and use the rest of his time talking about the issues people care about regardless of the original question.

Just for a minute, put yourself in Trump's shoes after being convicted. How would you respond? He cannot afford to sugarcoat anything that's happen to him. People have certain expectations and Trump has to meet them. He should be angry. He's been railroaded. People will expect him to be angry. All except his critics, who are full of bad advice. Ever notice how often critics are full of bad advice, don't know what they are talking about, or flat out lie? Explain to me why I should spend one second listening to critics.

The advice to Trump in this article is a good example of why Trump should not listen to his advisors. Trump would never have been President, and would now be in prison, if he ever had listened to advisors. The advisors he did listen to, like Fauci, he should not have listened to either.

I am suspicious of anyone who gives Trump "advice."

Let Trump be Trump was his slogan in 2016. Still works. These amateurs always think they know better as they pound away on their laptops. Forever.

Ivanka once described him as "blunt". I looked it up. "uncompromisingly straightforward".
Works for me.

On the campaign trail, let Trump be Trump, but in the debates, just stand back and let Biden be Biden. Left to his own devices, no one can destroy Biden more effectively than Biden himself.

Being angry isn't Presidential, the trick is to make Joe angry. Trump should stay calm but carry a big stick and hit Biden with it all night.

Kruiser's right. Most here disagree, but most here are in the base. Trump owns the base; he needs new voters. Up to 20% of Republicans aren't yet convinced, not to mention lots of independents and Democrats. The base doesn't need another dopamine hit: Trump should handle CNN as he did Kaitlan Collins and let Biden be the "get off my lawn" jerk.

If Hunter is convicted, that will be the excuse to cancel the debate.
