The hush money trial against former President Donald Trump hasn't been going well for the prosecution. As George Washington law professor Jonathan Turley explained, he doesn't think that the prosecution has made their case and believes Judge Juan Merchan should toss it before it goes to the jury. Now, that's if Merchan is judging based on the evidence presented, which remains to be seen. But the comments that Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) made about Cohen are causing a stir for different reasons. MSNBC's Willie Geist asked him if he thought that the prosecution had made their case. Goldman's response:

Really be something if Judges Merchan and Cannon toss their cases out of court as political hit jobs, and Fani gets the boot from the appeals court, leaving Judge Engoron looking like a political hack.

Why do you need to prep someone? Truth is truth and it should never need prepping. Of course, when it is political, I guess you need prepping then. . .

What's the big deal? Everybody at that trial was prepped and polished, especially Stormy. Merchan is just an idiot following orders and waiting to have his bank account replenished.

In a landmark decision, a Bexar County visiting judge has ordered a new election for the 180th District Court seat in Harris County, Texas. This ruling comes after Republican candidate Tami Pierce narrowly lost to Democrat DaSean Jones by a mere 449 votes in the November 2022 election. DaSean Jones, who was sworn in as a Harris County criminal district court judge 15 months ago and has since presided over hundreds of cases, now faces uncertainty about his 2022 election victory. Republican Tami Pierce continues to contest the election results in court, asserting that “improper or illegal votes were counted” and that the election was “riddled with errors.”

CNN is President Joe Biden’s preferred network to host at least one presidential debate, he said Wednesday. CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will host, according to Puck News. (X) Biden’s preferred network, CNN, with sinking ratings, is known to push hoaxes, according to Breitbart News’s John Nolte’s list, “THIS IS CNN”: The Biden campaign said the president would debate Trump only in June and September, without live audiences present. “I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th,” Biden posted on X. “Over to you, Donald. 'Make my day, pal.' In a surprise video release Wednesday morning, a swaggering Joe Biden - mustering his best 'Dirty Harry' impression – challenged his 2024 opponent to meet him with rhetorical guns drawn for two presidential debates. 'Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020,' Biden said. 'Now he's acting like he wants to debate me again.'Well, yes, Mr. President. That's typically how American presidential elections work. The two leading party candidates – and, perhaps, a third-party upstart – come together for public debates to earn the votes of the American people. But curiously, for months, the Biden campaign has been trying to avoid such a showdown.

There will be two presidential debates between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27 and September 10 after both sides agreed on the calendar Wednesday morning. "Former President Donald Trump has agreed to debate the current president on CNN on June 27, said a person familiar with his thinking who was granted anonymity to discuss the issue. That decision was made shortly after President Joe Biden said he had 'received and accepted an invitation' from the network," POLITICO reports. "The agreement does not ensure that a debate will happen. But it signals an interest in both camps to have a public sparring.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has turned to climate change to explain how the state went from a $100 billion surplus two years ago to a $28 billion deficit, which would have been even higher prior to drastic actions last month. As CalMatters noted, deficit estimates ranged from $38 billion to $73 billion: That prompted Newsom and the Legislature to take “early action” last month to reduce the deficit by more than $17 billion ahead of the regular budget process. Their plan included some program cuts, but mostly relied on new revenue, internal borrowing and funding delays and shifts for savings,

Mayor Eric Adams has once again ignited controversy with his latest comments on the city’s lifeguard shortage. The mayor has suggested that illegal immigrants could be the solution to New York City’s staffing woes, specifically because “they’re excellent swimmers.” This eyebrow-raising connection was made by Mayor Adams during a City Hall briefing when pressed about the challenges facing the city’s beaches and pools. With Memorial Day approaching and no clear resolution in sight, Adams proposed expediting migrant work visas for these critical roles. “How do we have a large body of people that are in our city, our country, that are excellent swimmers and at the same time we need lifeguards —

It’s the nation’s largest seafood chain, and it got cooked over various factors, but one consumer deal appears to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back: the “all you can eat” shrimp deal. The corporate brass thought this pitch could be the draw to turn around the chain. Instead, it cost them millions, leading to yesterday’s news that Chapter 11 bankruptcy is imminent and will be filed before Memorial Day. Hundreds of millions of dollars in debt are set to be restructured, with dozens of locations slated for closure (via WSJ): (X)
