The press, and many politicians, constantly assure us that the world is in the midst of a transition from fossil fuels to “green” energy, which means wind turbines, solar panels, and mostly fictitious batteries. But is any such transition actually in progress? No. Robert Bryce has the numbers.
No such transition is taking place in the U.S.; on the contrary, last year natural gas-fired electricity generation increased 9.5 times as much as wind and solar combined: (Chart) But that’s nothing! The U.S. is rich enough to waste absurd amounts of money on pitifully inadequate wind and solar developments. Less developed countries can’t afford to be that stupid.

Short answer. Reducing our standard of living forcing by us to spend money for what we don't want or need while making huge amounts of money for friends of friends.

This article has a graph that correctly shows a decline in carbon dioxide emissions during the recession of 2098 and the repression of 2020. If atmospheric concentrations are tied to anthropomorphic emissions of carbon dioxide, a corresponding « dip » should be seen in the atmospheric record. However, such a dip does not exist in the gold standard, the Moana Loa recordings (see https://gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends/mlo.html). The only conclusion that can be reasonably drawn is that atmospheric co2 is rising in spite of, not because of, world wide anthropogenic emissions of co2.

We are going through an energy transition. We will have less energy, maybe even none. Wait until the power goes out. That's when the real fun begins.

There is never going to be an energy transition. EV's, solar panels, and wind power are a complete bust, with those that bought that hype having bankruptcy in their future.

Despite all the hype and fanfare about solar energy and ridiculous infusions of tax dollars into the industry, the big private investors have realized that the concept is a total bust outside the Southwest )and it's of little value there during the winter stormy season). The future is natural gas.

We need to transition back to coal for main power generation. THAT is the REAL long term fuel.
And more CO2 is GOOD FOR the planet, increases green plant growth, a unalloyed good, everywhere.

Excellent piece, well worth your time.
The bottom line is that "energy transition" is purely a media hype term, has no real basis in fact. Essentially all real energy growth is in coal and natural gas.
And despite spending $4,000,000,000,000 US dollars on "green energy" last year......it is still a tiny, unreliable, ultra-expansive blip in the energy market.
We need to stop wasting money on these stupid fantasies of "wind and solar" and go back to NORMAL power from coal and perhaps add some nuclear - if we get smart and reprocess and reuse the fuel.
Current nuclear uses 1% of the energy in nuclear fuel then throws is into expensive storage ponds next to the power plants. We could get 50=75 times as much energy from the same fuel if it were reprocessed into new fuel rods and reused.

Wind and solar. What happens if the wind doesn't blow or if it blows too fast, or if it freezes, and solar what happens when it snows or if it hails or if the sun isn't shining.

Imagine if we had taken all the wealth squandered on so-called "green energy" and instead spent it on improving infrastructure, defending our borders, securing the electric grid. THAT would help "make America great again."
