NEW YORK (AP) — The reposts and expressions of shock from public figures followed quickly after a user on the social platform X who uses a pseudonym claimed that a government website had revealed “skyrocketing” rates of voters registering without a photo ID in three states this year — two of them crucial to the presidential contest. “Extremely concerning,” X owner Elon Musk replied twice to the post this past week. “Are migrants registering to vote using SSN?” Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, an ally of former President Donald Trump, asked on Instagram, using the acronym for Social Security number. Trump himself posted to his own social platform within hours

This is no joke. Conservative website comment threads are now being targeted. Google and others are threatening advertising removal from sites where they find comments they don;t like. There's an example at CTH below this quote: "Unfortunately, on an almost exact timeline as previously outlined (maximum 2024 election interference planned), Google and Big Tech have shifted approaches exactly as we predicted they would by mid-April. They have been unable to take down The Conservative Treehouse over platform content, so they shifted strategies with the spider crawling. We are now under attack by Google Inc. for comments made by you. [see example below]:" https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2024/04/03/site-notes-and-updates/

Hey kids. You may not believe this, but when media outlets first hit the internet, they allowed reader commenting on all of their "news" reports. That ended under the Obama I Era as administration-managed propaganda got widely criticized by readers for its obvious ridiculousness. Now, this remarkably fact-free propaganda that the Right commentariat is running wild with lies.

Now the left has problems with anonymous users in online discussions. That's exactly the point! Thousands of people get together, share their views, and none of them know one another. The left doesn't like people disagreeing with them. Their response is to label anyone that disagrees with them as wrong, a liar spreading misinformation, who should be banned. It doesn't work that way no matter how much the left wants it.

Most of what ails politics today started in the Clinton Era. This aspect -- media manipulation of public expression -- started during the Clinton impeachment. The phone calls to CSPAN were so overwhelmingly anti-Clinton, that CSPAN implemented a Republican/Democrat/Independent line and sampled each equally, to give the impression that the Country was evenly divided. Under the Obama Administration, we got the end of comments to news articles on AP, and most major Lefty "news" sites. They will do anything to hide the fact that the Left is largely despised in America.

The first criminal trial against former and potentially future President Donald is moving forward, with Tuesday bringing us more of jury selection. As Matt covered on Monday, the trial thus far has been incredibly unfair to Trump, and not merely because it's such a weak case. Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan, who has been criticized as "a Democratic operative in a robe," won't even let Trump attend his son's high school graduation. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is no better, though, as he's looking to punish Trump for violating the unconstitutional gag order thrust upon him.

It's hard to blame Donald Trump (aka Dozy Don) for apparently nodding off during the first day of his 'hush money' trial in New York on Monday. Yes, it's the first ever criminal trial of a former U.S. president and he's also the only leading presidential candidate ever to face criminal proceedings. Add to that the chance he could go to jail if he's found guilty and you might expect Trump to be paying close attention. But the early stages of the trial have been dominated by arcane legal arguments about procedural points and the interminable process of choosing a jury, now an unavoidable feature of American justice.

The protesters were seen in video footage getting escorted off the stage and out of the room as they could be heard yelling, “How much money do you take from the rich?” and, “What do we need? Some had had their social media posts scrutinized, or been glared at by the defendant. Their prize is a ringside seat at one of the most momentous trials in American history. No wonder some looked terrified at they walked to the jury box to take up their seats and be sworn in.

It is the weakest case against the former president, but like the bogus civil fraud case, it’s one where Trump could get screwed. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is arguing that Trump’s hush money arrangement with adult entertainment star Stormy Daniels, a supposedly critical piece of information for the wider public in the lead-up to the 2016 election. The former president is accused of falsifying records in what essentially is a super-sized campaign finance violation. It’s also a charge that district attorneys seldom bring to court. Those who do are rare cases, and in most cases where jail time was handed down, the sentence was no more than a month.
