The quoted banker does not specifically talk about the Central Bank Digital Currency that lays at the end of the promoted rainbow; the author does. However, the banker does outline a familiar step in the current process. As a result, it is worth drawing attention to the continuum.
MAINE – “According to Hannigan, the COVID-19 pandemic forced businesses to implement “paper-free and virtual processes” to handle their finances while “adapting to the new reality. “For years, Americans had been slowly moving away from cash and paper checks, but the pandemic supercharged the trend,” Hannigan wrote.

I'm proudly in the 14% still using cash and checks. We'll hold out as long as we can. We're better off than most out here on the homestead. We've had 25 years to build up our infrastructure. We have our own well, and septic system. We went total solar two years ago, but dependent on propane to power the back-up generator to keep the batteries happy during the big winter storms. The propane is also used for the kitchen stove, clothes dryer and furnace. Of course we have a wood stove to minimize the use of the furnace. TK has set aside long-term food storage, and several boxes of barter also. Not to mention, in a pinch, dinner hops across the front yard every night! We have decades-long great neighbors in a gated community, far from the madding crowd.
We saw the breakdown during the Rodney King riot. Bought our property in 1993, and moved up in 1999. We saw the disintegration coming and planned for it. But I'm still surprised its happening.

No digital currency period. We are not the Chicoms. With a digital currency, the government knows what you spend where you spend it and on what you purchase. The Chicoms connect your society score to their digital currency. If you are not a good Chicom, you can't purchase anything. Give good old paper money, any day.

The Masters of the Universe demand total compliance. Except for themselves, that is.
Their wealth puts them above anything they impose on the rabble.

Covid-19 didn't force anything, government overreaction and power-grabbing did. That mild cold is being blamed for a lot of damage. The American people do not want a conversion to digital currency but morons like Janet Yellen and the ever-growing IRS do. Won't it be great when they automatically withdraw your quarterly tax payments from your account without you having to lift a finger? That simplified tax system we have longed for will finally come into being where they see your paycheck before you do and help themselves to it. Oh, don't try to buy anything from the forbidden list, you will be turned down.

Not related, but have you noticed that Covid is being replaced by "pandemic."

No thanks on the CBDC. I'll stick with precious metals and dollars. CBDCs are no more than a new fiat currency that affords our betters a method of improved surveillance on us. What we buy, where we bought it, why we bought it. Bought too much gasoline last month? Used too much electricity and natural gas? Your punishment - next month's income withholding tax will be doubled. And your allowable income for the next three months will be cut in half. Your social credit score will be penalized bigly. Have fun walking to work.
All brought to you by the central banks including our own Federal Reserve under the ownership of the House of Rothschild ("R"). Remember them? Recall that Lady Lynn de Rothschild was on CNBC back in November to tell us how wonderful CBDCs and managed capitalism (aka collectivism) would be for the entire world. What she didn't say is who in the world would benefit financially. Hint - the answer starts with an "R". She also didn't say who in the world would become "R's" permanent debt slaves - us.
Your cell phone, ipads, and laptop computer are no more than modern-day tracking devices. Same is true for your credit cards. Want to insulate yourselves from "R" to the extent you can? Be part of the 14 percent crowd.

#1, you and TK have the right idea: away from large population centers (preferably more than 1 gas tank's range), off the grid, independent water and septic, long-term food sources. You didn't mention it, but you should also have a good ammo inventory, decent armory, and seriously consider forming a defensive militia with your dependable neighbors.
Obama and Biden's plans and actions have made such preparations necessary. Biden made the last push to desperately keep the borders open long enough to bring in the assault teams that will easily overwhelm our local law enforcement. We're on our own now. The "Red October" events are likely to be triggered by Trump's victory. And once again, the fate of this country will be in We the People's own hands.
Good luck to all who have foreseen this and prepared for it.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..." With CBDC the Government would have access to intimate information without need of inconvenient warrants. If the Central Bank is not part of the Government (as in the Federal Reserve) it could maintain dossiers on each citizen and report to The Government in violation of the Constitution.
The money supply would be infinite since it would all come from the Central Bank's server farms.
