China had a good run, but it is now over. You know it’s over when 65 million homes — one-fifth of the nation’s total — lie vacant and real-estate prices have collapsed to 2018 levels. Tens of millions of Chinese plunked down their life savings for an apartment in a high-rise that they will never live in because the builder went bankrupt, leaving the building an uninhabitable empty shell. [SNIP] Yet, in communism’s latest triumph of ideology over experience, Xi is once again driving the Chinese people down the socialist road to ruin.

If you haven't actually watched a tour of the massive, incredible Chinese construction disaster....this is a pretty good look.
Wall Street Journal, so not some "who is that?" report.

This one is frankly, hilarious. This guy lives in China...or used to, it's not clear if he has slipped out due to the unpopularity of his videos with the Xi goons. But, he started living and traveling in China, speaks the language and first reported on the "ghost cities" a number of years ago when they were almost unknown.
But, this one is just funny, at least to me. Sad, really, how totally FAKE everything in China is.

Xi knows the surest path to economic 'recovery' is to start a war. Taiwan will be just the tip of the spear.

China is a giant Potemkin village. I can't wait until the whole place comes crashing down.

FTA: "He assured China’s wealth creators that he had no problem with people getting rich — as long as they used their wealth to serve the Party’s interests. Then, to make sure they did, he sent political commissars to watch over them. Every major non-state-owned company in China was ordered to add a CCP representative to its board."
Just like "judge" Engorged of NY ordered for the Trump organization. All in the name of The People. We do know the Dims have admired and have been jealous of the CCP in their ability "to get things done" without the inconveniences of "consent of the governed" mucking up their plans.
It will be interesting to see if Insane Ideology will return China to the Mousey Dung hell hole it formerly was. Or if tyranny can actually run a modern economy. Perhaps that is the only restraint on the Dim Party.

FTA
“Why would anyone in their right mind recklessly tinker with, much less abandon, a successful economic policy that has produced over three decades of mostly double-digit economic growth for China?”
The same can be asked of our own political class, most recently in 2021.

never fear, the United States of America's congress will bail out the communists in China to promote good feelings between the two nations and
to line the pockets of the many financiers and business leaders who've sold their soul to the international communist movement
that is beyond corrupt in every aspect of government and
reminds me of the fact that it only took 72 years for the Soviet Union to collapse and
rename itself to sound like there was significant political change when in fact they only re-arranged the deck chairs to appease the know nothings of the history of the rise of the communist philosophy / governance

News of China's demise is greatly exaggerated.

Author is either blind or stupid. Xi's cultural revolution is just around the corner. His CR will make Mao's look like child play. The CCP is alive and well. And the author is an expert?

Not sure this makes much of a difference. The CCCP will sacrifice everything around them to stay in power. Think North Korea. They will roll the tanks whenever their people need a reminder. China lost half a trillion in 2023? Nice to see big business move out of China. It's a good thing to see a divide between the globalistas and China.

There's 65 million empty homes in China? Wow. This is happening at the same time that the U.S. and Canada are suffering with major housing shortages. For the record, many wealthy Chinese were buying homes in Canada as investments. That's why the Canadian government in 2022 banned foreigners from buying homes. Instead, the Chinese are now buying "investment" homes in the U.S., further exasperating the housing shortage and forcing prices even higher.
