A 9,000ft bridge in Maryland has collapsed after being struck by a container ship.
Astonishing footage shows the moment the vessel plowed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, sending the colossal steel structure crashing into the Patapsco River, shortly before 1.30am Eastern.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties but there did appear to be traffic on the bridge at the time of the catastrophe. The US Coast Guard and the Maryland Transportation Authority confirmed the crash but provided no further details.
A livestream showed the disaster unfolding, with the vessel plowing into a pile holding up the central part of the bridge. The road and steel arches

Hmmm… people have been saying there would be a terror attack. I’m sure they are going to indict Trump for this.

Hey y'all... Don't worry, Mayor Pete's got this....if you can find him. FJB will have some canned, tepid comments after he's finished his cone.

Not good. It will be a miracle if anyone on the bridge survived.

Singapore...
Wonder how many of the crew were Chinese, had ties to the CCP, and large bank accounts?

Prayers for all the people on the bridge; I doubt any will be found alive but we can hope. The silver lining, if there is one, is that it happened at 1:30 in the morning and not 6-7 hours later when many more vehicles would be on it.
As for being in contact with Mary Pete, that's going to be an exercise in futility, I'm sure. He's the invisible man in biden's "administration". Who knows? Perhaps once found he will declare that the bridge had been racist so...end of story as far as he's concerned.

This is horrific and I hope and pray that any survivors will be rescued quickly. My cynical self says that when the bridge is re-built that the wokies in Maryland will take the opportunity to re-name it. Francis Scott Key was a toxic, white male after all.

Watched a video of it. Seems as if the lights/power went off for an interval prior to the collision.
Cars had stopped on the other half of the bridge when smoke could be seen over the road.
The cars went down with the bridge.
Another drunk captain, or a newbie steering the ship while the captain slept, or terrorists taking over the ship?
Too early to tell.

Isn't there supposed to be a certified American Harbor Pilot/Master on board, piloting every ship entering or exiting every major port? Where was he?

It's being reported there were TWO pilots on that ship! How does this happen with 2 river experts in charge? Also reported the ship lost total power before the crash, but it looks like the front was all lit up until it hit the support column. Am I seeing this wrong?

We will never know the truth.

Word of the day: “allision”.
An allision is when a moving ship hits a non-moving object, like a bridge or oil rig.
A “collision” in contrast, has two moving objects.
Under the Jones Act (maritime law), the moving ship in an allision is presumed at fault. Further, injured persons are due compensation.

I watched the video, too. The bridge looks like a row of dominos collapsing. What a horror for everyone who was there or who had loved ones on the bridge. There was no time to react. I won't comment on possible causes because it's impossible to know yet. There will be endless speculation and I hope the true cause(s) will be known soon. Are there any grown ups in charge around there?

To you locals, sending hugs and prayers. From what I read the ships navigation system failed and the craft veered off course . So greatful this was not during the rush hour.

What a horrific accident to happen. Apparently, lots of construction workers were on the bridge working at night. Prayers for rescue, but it doesn't look good for survival chances.

The death count will be near 100%. Anybody who survived the fall and managed to exit their vehicles would quickly succumb to the cold water. As usual, we will wait until the story is concocted and refined by the usual sources. Mayor Pete hides much better than Biden does. It will take many years to rebuild this thing.

There were workers doing deck repairs on the bridge at the time. As of 9:30am, reports say two people have been rescued. In addition to blocking all shipping coming in and out of Baltimore, this bridge handled all truck traffic carrying hazardous material that could not go through the Harbor or Francis Scott Key tunnels. #8. There are cameras in several locations that show the bridge some located in downtown Baltimore and other locations. It was not unusual for those cameras to show the bridge and vessels leaving and entering the port. A couple of posters have mentioned the pilots on board. The pilots radioed that the ship was experiencing problems and may hit the bridge. This was a large container ship that was loaded.

The river channel will be closed for a month, if they are very competent at clearing it. Many months since Baltimore is a Demonrat hellhole, seem more likely.
As to road traffic.....years before that will be back.

Expect two things:
(1) Biden's FBI, DHS, NTSB, etc. will immediately declare this to be an accident (i.e. NOT terror)
(2) Biden, Demoncrats, and RINOs will push for (and likely improve) some sort of "Infrastructure" funding in the $1T+ range. "If Trump would have upgraded our infrastructure, this bridge wouldn't have collapsed. Trump is responsible for the deaths of all these people. Trump is evil."

Re#11, you answered your own question. If the power is lost, the pilots become passengers, and none of their skill matters.

They say that there were two local Baltimore harbor pilots in control of that foreign ship when it hit the bridge. What was the level of competence of those two Baltimore harbor pilots one might ask? A big ship like that maneuvering in a tight harbor channel such as under that huge bridge you would think should have had the assistance of a couple of powerful tug boats, and as a last resource if the ship lost power should have immediately dropped it anchors stopping the ship from moving. Baltimore is a big leftist Democrat run city so there is no telling what the following investigative report will claim. If Trump’s airplane was flying anywhere within 500 miles of Baltimore harbor at the time look for the leftist and socialist Democrats to blame Trump!
