The company launched the course, titled “Allyship in the Outdoors,” to teach customers about racial disparities in outdoor activities. It is roughly an hour long and is intended for people who work in the outdoor industry. Those who take the course from North America are ineligible for the discount, however.

I don't recall seeing any North Face stores in poor Black neighborhoods or places like South Central LA. They are always in affluent White areas. A bill that would create a pathway for undocumented children to access state-funded health insurance was approved by the Virginia Senate along partisan lines Tuesday. The bill, if approved by the Democratic-controlled House of Delegates and signed off on by Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, would provide health care coverage for Virginia residents under age 19 who are not covered under a group health plan or health insurance coverage, and would, if not for their immigration status, be eligible for medical assistance services through the commonwealth's program of medical assistance services. The Virginia chapter of CASA, a national immigrant advocacy group, championed the bill.

Sen. Jeremy McPike (D) and the Prince William County police chief are pushing legislation that would allow ‘Dreamers’ to become law enforcement officers in Virginia. Current law allows only United States citizens to qualify for these positions, which include chief of police, police officer, deputy sheriff and jail officer. “Dreamers,” the federal government’s designation for people who were approved under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, are those who arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16 and who have lived here since June 15, 2007. The designation does not include anyone who was older than 30 when the Department of Homeland Security enacted the policy in 2012.

A Gallup survey from last summer found, “Americans’ faith in major societal institutions hasn’t improved over the past year following a slump in public confidence in 2022.” (snip) Doctors, hospitals, and healthcare systems used to be held in high esteem, but no more. Aren’t these the “experts” in white coats? What happened to that trust? Why do only 1 in 3 Americans trust what was once a sacred healing profession?
