President Joe Biden's administration is investing $20 billion to build ship-to-shore cranes in America in order to keep Chinese hackers from spying at U.S. ports. Biden will sign an executive order Wednesday to give the U.S. Coast Guard new powers to issue basic cybersecurity requirements for transportation vessels and ports amid fears Chinese hackers will target American infrastructure, including ports, as it prepares for a potential invasion of Taiwan.
One particular area of focus is ship-to-shore cranes, which move cargo containers off of vessels.
'We felt there was real strategic risk here,' said Anne Neuberger, U.S., deputy national security adviser for cyber and emerging technology.

Maybe Hidin' Biden should contact DJT secretly to see if there are some cheaper cranes to be had somewhere. He shouldn't fear spying and hacking. It is a fact of life, and it matters not, in upon which horse you rode.

Actually, this is probably a good idea. NEVER trust anything from China, especially if it is critical to infrastructure.
China is our enemy.

Do any of these geniuses think what is IN those damned containers that are being unloaded? Where did way too many of them come from? CHINA.
We need to increase tariffs on all goods from China, like 40% if that's what it takes. Stop trading with China! They are our enemy.

Senile Joe's unelected Commie handlers knew about this 3 years ago. But they didn't do squat about it.
Now they are reading the polls, so expect more anti-China moves, and more moves to secure the border (though minimally), so that they can brag to their sheeple base voters that they are "strong" in these areas.
God bless and keep Donald Trump strong and faithful. It is our only hope of saving our republic at this point!!!!!

Where is "Biden" planning to buy the steel? He and Obama closed down the last of Americas structural steel plants, closed the forges, shut down the furnaces, smelters, ore mines, coke plants. The only steel we make anymore is from recycling of scrap.
The time to "Do Something" about the Chinese taking over USA's ports(and major ports all around the world, as well as the Canals) was back when Obama/Biden granted them the waivers to do so.

Nonsense. We have 100,000 illegal Chinese waltzing into America. They need jobs. Just hire them to check out the whole system and then run the operation. It's the least we can do.

This is all about perception. This way he can brag at the State of the Union speech about this. Think about it, what are his accomplishments? So he’s going to do a few things that will try to make it look like he’s taking care of America's business. It’s all pure bull. For show.

Why replace the whole crane and not just the control system?

The Chinese: "OK fine, we will turn the computer systems off, you can send people to hand flag the crane operators to latch/load/unlatch each and every individual container, hand log each one, coordinate the truck lines, loading shipping all with hand notes and runners..."
I seem to recall when he was blaming the entire inflation, economy, shortages and price increases on "Logistical bottle necks" at the ports, and demanding increases in crews, shifts, speeds there. How does THIS plan not create an even worse situation? That will be ALL his fault.

Would like to say I'm totally on board with this. Yes, it's a good idea, but because it's a democrat administration you know someone will be making a lot money who shouldn't be. There is a PWB manufacturer in China that was exposed several years ago installing tiny chips embedded between layers in their boards. Visually hidden, even difficult to spot in an X-ray, the chips were capable of contacting the motherboard of the system they were installed in and allowing the Chinese government full access.

Send the Chinese cranes to the Texas border to be part of the wall.
Young men can sharpen their welding skills by removing the control panels and any other possible 'eyes.'
Let's see where are the best places to put these Chinese devices?
Buried in concrete? Bottom of a dump?
