A record low percentage of Americans identified as Democrats in 2023 ahead of a contentious presidential election year, according to a Friday poll. Only 27% of Americans self-identify as Democrats, reaching the smallest figure for the party in Gallup’s recorded history, according to the survey. Republicans received the same amount of support, though it didn’t represent the GOP’s lowest figure, and 43% of Americans identified as independents.

This is a real problem for a party that relies on identity politics and emotion rather than logic for most of its support.

Few people can believe the mulitiple impossible things that they must believe to be a Dem these days. They must believe that a woman can transform into a man, and a man can transform into a woman. They must believe that a man can become pregnant. They must believe that 25 million criminals released into the USA is "a good thing". They must believe that higher prices and running low on money before the end of the month....is just their imagination. They must believe that the economy is doing great, even while their personal financial condition is NOT doing great. They must believe that it was just their imagination that five or so years ago we had the best economy in the last half century, with lots of jobs for anyone willing to work, and increasing real purchasing power with low inflation and high wages. They must believe that this actually DIDN'T happen...no matter how real it seems to them. Like Alice said to the Red Queen, “There is no use trying, one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Red Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." I dare say the Red Queen would have certainly registered as a Democrat.

Most voters know there's no difference between the parties. Conservatives have been duped by establishment Pubs almost as much and as long as dems by the devil worshipping party. We're all waking up, but we continue to get poked day after day. They're convinced we have no teeth, and they don't care what we think, do, or say.

I suspect that a great number of "independents" identify that was because they think they are high minded, non-partisan and open minded. It's just cooler to identify as an independent so that you can deny affiliation with the lunatic left or MTG wing of the republican party. That and most of these people aren't paying attention. All of that said, neither party truly represents the majority. We are ripe for a viable down the middle third party. The existing 3rd parties are wingnut versions of the major parties.

It seems to me that there are two factions -at least that are commonly written about- in the Republican party. There's the MAGA faction and (as Sundance over at Conservative Treehouse calls them) the 'Establishment', or GOPe. The MAGA faction is the conservatives, or at least those that want the best for America.... Trump, Louis Ghomert, Tom Cotton, Jim Jordan, MTG, Ron Paul, Ron Johnson, and those that are like-minded. The GOPe faction includes 'China Mitch' McConnel, 'Mittens' Romney, and the people who are like-minded with them. I support the MAGA faction, but as far as I am concerned, the GOPe is almost as bad for the country as the Democ'RATS. The GOPe usually goes along with whatever the 'RATS want, as long as the 'RATS toss a few crumbs their way, so that they can feather their own personal nests while the America we love heads straight down toward the sewer. That's why I stopped contributing to the GOP, as it is too much under the control of the GOPe.

This is a big reason why Biden and the leftist and socialist Democrats are flooding the USA with poor and uneducated Third World origin illegal aliens who fit within the minority group categories recognized in Democrat identity politics, as they believe that after the rapidly growing illegal alien population is legalized through a series of Democrat designed “path to citizenship” amnesties, and other legalization programs, who the leftist and socialist Democrats believe can easily be transformed almost universally into “New American” leftist and socialist Democrat supporters and voters. Why else would the 101% politically partisan Biden and the leftist and socialist Democrats be pleased as punch to flood the USA with illegal aliens?

Just three days after Georgia prosecutors indicted Donald Trump last summer, one of the lead prosecutors on the case faced some legal trouble of his own. The prosecutor, Nathan Wade, was held in contempt for defying a court order in an acrimonious divorce proceeding with his wife. Shortly after taking office in 2021, President Joe Biden reversed President Donald Trump's designation of the Iran-backed Yemeni Houthis as a terror group. In so doing, Biden spoke about the need to deal with the humanitarian disaster in Yemen at the time. The Trump administration believed that the Houthis had used violent campaigns to destabilize the region. The Houthis took over the Yemeni capital Sana'a in 2014 along with much of the northwestern region of the country. The US and UK conducted joint operations to bomb Houthi infrastructure in Sana'a on Thursday.

While Republican primary voters think Donald Trump is their best shot in November, it's Nikki Haley who right now holds a bigger lead over Joe Biden than either Trump or Ron DeSantis in potential head-to-head match-ups. In fact, as the GOP presidential nomination kicks off, Trump, Haley and DeSantis all have at least a slight national edge on President Biden right now, were they to emerge as his challenger. (Haley and DeSantis have tougher roads to get that chance, of course, since they trail Trump substantially in the race for the nomination.) What's behind Haley's lead? Here's why Haley has such a lead over Biden:

However, the audit performed for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transit Administration shows the work will likely take until 2040.
