ILION, N.Y.—In the village of Ilion, New York, 80 miles west of the state capital in Albany, residents are mourning the departure of gunmaker Remington Arms Co. after two centuries of continuous operation. Without fanfare, the company announced last month that the manufacturing plant would be closing its doors on March 4, 2024. "I feel like a family member has died," Ilion Mayor John Stephens told The Epoch Times. "My dad raised four kids on a paycheck from there for 37 years. He walked to work and carried his lunch every day." Mr. Stephens said no one expected the announcement a week after Thanksgiving that the plant was set to close.

Unions and a state and city full of people who hate the product, and did every thing they could to make it hard for them, and I'll bet that many were rude and nasty to the workers and management people. NY is a very antigun nutball state, at least at the political levels where policy is made. Remington will do well in their new home.

The hostile government in NY did this along with union wages. If Remington had stayed, they would have faced bankruptcy and the workers would still be out of good, high paying jobs. I am willing to bet that at least 80% voted Dem. Sucks when yo run businesses off....maybe they can learn to code.

Remington hasn’t made guns in Ilion in several years. They sent all their machinery to Ruger in North Carolina last year. It’s just taken this long to close the plant down. Remington made guns in the wrong place for about 50 years. High taxes, gun control laws and unions made it unprofitable. All the people bitching about losing their jobs probably voted Democrat all their lives. You got what you wanted, Ilion. Embrace the suck.

A hostile political climate and hoplophobic Democrats in some blue states are driving firearm manufacturing out of those places. S&W has moved from Massachusetts to East Tennessee; Kimber has moved from Yonkers, NY to Troy, Alabama; Remington is moving from Ilion, New York to Northern Alabama (Huntsville). The trend is certain to continue.

It's sad that the people of upstate are made the victims of the left wing politicians of New York City and its environs. The City dominates the entire state, while the upstate counties pay the price of the City's idiocy. You can't blame Remington for taking its business elsewhere. The blame lies squarely on the selfish, short-sighted and suicidal voters in the five boroughs.

How many know anything at all about this tiny village? In the part of NY more apt to vote Riight than Left. Go and read about it. At one time when it was to have a post office, it would have been named Remington except the company preferred they not do so. The "company town"since 1816,, I can understand this was a huge blow to them.

Communists like the ones running New York dont care who they hurt, as long as it isnt themselves. Its all about ideology and power, and casualties be damned. I own several Remingtons and for the most part they are good quality guns that were reasonably priced when new. Hope this move doesn't change that.

It is often said in recent years that events in Europe present as the precursor for events that later follow in the U.S. and North America. Indeed, there are many points of reference which support this outlook. According to recent media reporting, various state police agencies in Europe took action against Islamic extremists, identified as ISIS-k affiliates, to stop planned terror attacks against Christian targets, specifically well-known cathedrals, this Christmas holiday season. The events took place in Austria and Germany, with targets identified in Vienna and Western Germany.

As the story is told, the “republicans” have the lowest amount of reserve cash on hand in the past seven years. However, as readers here are well aware, it’s not the republicans that are “running out of money,” it is the RNC Corporation that is running low on funds. These are two distinctly different things. In the era of the great political awakening, the term “uniparty” has now become a well-known in conservative lexicon to describe our national political situation. The RNC and DNC are two private corporations that form each wing of the Uniparty vulture. The RNC and DNC are private entities, private corporations,
