Biden Puts Us On A Fast Train To Nowhere

"At long last, we’re building the first high-speed rail project in our nation’s history. And it’s starting here.” That was President Joe Biden announcing last week that us taxpayers will be ponying up $3 billion to help a private company build a bullet train from Los Angeles to Las Vegas so gambleholics can start losing money more quickly. The L.A. to Vegas train will supposedly be finished in time for the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028 — just four and half years from now. Well, anything is possible. A private company is planning to build the thing and claims to have the route and rights-of-way all figured out. But

I seems to me that everything the criminal psychopaths that make up government do is somehow related to laundering the trillions they have stolen from normal people. They then stash the loot in offshore accounts. The only thing on my bucket list is to see these gangsters brought to justice. That’s not going to happen because the gangsters run the “justice” system, as well.

California is bankrupt and needs a bailout. This is Biden's way of rewarding Newsom and himself for years of failure at the expense of the US taxpayer. There's a reason that this high speed rail is called a "first" and it's because the whole concept is stupid and guaranteed to be a huge money pit. That three billion might as well go to Zelenskyy because either way, we will not see a viable train by 2028. It could also be an admission that a Tesla can not make it from LA to Vegas without getting stranded in the desert.

The Democrat running every town the non-stop train passes through will demand the train stop there. Everybody will want a cut, he political negotiations will never end, and expenses will rise forever. If it ever gets finished, tickets will cost twice as much as taking a quick plane hop to Vegas, and nobody will ride on it.

Democrats don’t support open borders for humanitarian reasons. They want the lines erased because they see every illegal alien as a likely Democratic voter crucial to their political power grab. But there’s another reason: They want to increase the populations of Democratic states to boost their representation in Congress and the Electoral College. Apparently, it’s not enough for Democrats to have become authoritarians, they have to be corrupt, too. Of course this is no surprise. Only the corrupt become authoritarians. Austrian economist Friedrich Hayek showed in chapter 10 of “The Road to Serfdom” why socialist systems never have decent people in charge.

President Joe Biden brags that the budget he released on Monday would cut the deficit by $3 trillion, even while offering truckloads of new goodies to Americans. That will get headlines. What won’t make the news is the fact that his Fiscal 2025 budget provides clear and incontrovertible evidence that he has caused a fiscal and economic disaster of epic proportions. How do we know this? Because buried in the back of the annual budget document is a table called “Baseline by Category.” This is a forecast of spending, revenues, and deficits that would result if the government is left on autopilot.

The left seems increasingly resigned to the fact that Donald Trump could defeat Joe Biden in a rematch this November. So much so that it is busy speculating about the hellscape Trump II will unleash. He will destroy democracy. He will rule as an authoritarian. And so forth. The New York Times took another stab at it Thursday in its daily email newsletter, The Morning. David Leonhardt, who runs the newsletter, says that a good way to understand how Trump might govern in a second term is to look at his “affinity” for Viktor Orban, the conservative prime minister of Hungary, who has become the bête noire of the left.

They know the economy’s going backward and that inflation remains a dire threat to our nation’s standard of living and its global economic leadership. For those of a certain age, there’s a whiff of 1970s-style stagflation in the air. It was a period of high inflation, insufficient growth, and, to borrow a phrase, near-universal cultural and economic malaise. Everyone felt as if they were falling behind. Senator Bernie Sanders believes it is long past time the United States moves away from a 40-hour workweek and establishes a 32-hour standard workweek without reducing workers' pay. The Vermont senator introduced legislation that would do just that. But his proposal is already being met with stiff opposition across the aisle. The Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act would reduce the standard workweek in the United States from 40 at 32-hours over four years while maintaining worker pay. It would also require overtime pay and a half for workdays longer than 8 hours and overtime doubling pay for workdays longer than 12 hours.
