How Israel’s new laser-defense system

Israel’s defenses took a giant leap forward this week when — for the first time ever — it used a laser beam to shoot down an incoming rocket fired by terrorists in Gaza. This isn’t science fiction, but the product of years of research and experimentation. The US military is doing its own laser-beam or “directed energy” research, and Israel and the United States cooperate. Lockheed Martin and Israel’s Rafael are developing Iron Beam, and ultimately it can mean not only ground-based laser defenses but lasers to mount on ships and planes as well. Israel fielded the weapon for the first time in combat a few days ago,

I sleep soundly at night knowing in my heart and mind that the US Military and our politicians would NEVER allow the CHINESE to steal THIS technology, unlike Loral Space and Bill Clinton did with ICBM guidance technology for a few ~$600,000 campaign money, or Clinton DOE head Bill Richardson did with NUCLEAR BOMB technology from Los Alamos nuclear labs. /so

Maybe it has been done already but why isn't there a system that analyzes the exact location from where a rocket is fired and then send a missile back in retaliation? Or possibly a laser directed from an aerial platform (plane). It is not often cloudy in that area but I wonder how effective this system would be in poor weather conditions--they would just time their attacks to coincide with rainy or cloudy weather.

#3 Why would they have to steal it. The Moron has probably already sold it or given it to them because he owes them. Also, I'd like to say I think the gooberment has been testing this on at least one instance I can think of - the guy in CA whose car ran into a tree and disintegrated. Michael _____. I'm sure I could think of others but it is early and I have only had one cup of coffee.

FTA: "As long as you have electricity, you have laser beams to fire again and again at incoming threats. Swarms of approaching missiles can’t overwhelm the number of interceptors you have on hand, and there’s no need to worry about resupply..." Except that Lasers require massive jolts of electricity that most modern power plants can't immediately provide; they therefore draw a little bit at a time, storing it in large banks of capacitors for the next shot. In other words, it could still be possible to overwhelm such laser defense systems, unless it is Chemical Laser based, which would then run into the problem of storing/generating the constituent toxic chemicals.

The US Navy rail guns require huge jolts of electricity and are recharged by the ship. All technology will eventually spread worldwide to those who can afford it or steal it so the trick is to be the baddest and the best at all times, a policy we have fallen down on severely thanks to our vegetable and his kenyan handler. Lead, explosives, gas, frying like bacon, whatever it takes to rid the world of the vermin islamists.

Colonel of IDF appears on newsmax most every day to recount progress they have made....this pause for hostages tells me that Hamas is in trouble...they need their fighters back and are willing to give back 50 hostages to improve their ranks...smart move by Bibi and his IDF...and I'm sure Mossad is in on the plan....

New York state once again ranks as the “least free” in America, as a new Cato Institute report nails woes The Post has long decried. Cato’s libertarians rank the Empire State dead-last, 50th, for policies impacting economic, social and personal freedoms — and even where it scores slight gains (for legalizing pot and reforming criminal justice), Albany plainly screwed up. “Combined, state and local taxes are crushing. Debt is down from years past but is still the highest in the country at 26.1 percent of income,” notes the report. No wonder the state’s seeing a huge exodus to Florida (No. 2 in freedom, behind New Hampshire, and first in economic freedom),

Nothing's as expensive as cheap imported labor, and New Yorkers are about to find that out the hard way. According to the New York Post: The NYPD’s force will be reduced to just 29,000 cops by the end of fiscal year 2025 — the lowest level since the mid-90s — amid a slew of city-wide budget cuts revealed by Mayor Eric Adams Thursday as the Big Apple grapples with its multi-billion-dollar migrant crisis. Under City Hall’s newly unveiled updated 2024 financial plan, the next five police academy classes will be axed — essentially decimating an already strained department as roughly 4,500 officers are expected to leave their ranks within the next 18 months.

National Security has seldom been as important an issue for the American voter as it is today. Our world is on fire, quite literally. Increasing geopolitical tensions are a daily media story whether we want to watch or not, and it is compounded by the insecurity of the open U.S. southern border, millions of unvetted refugees entering the U.S. and two wars. One aspect of this security crisis that few people consider, however, involves training foreign military students in the United States.

Erdoğan wants the world to recognize the breakaway Turkish statelet of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognized only by Turkey. That statelet emerged after Turkey's illegal invasion of Cyprus in 1974.

A Babylon Bee fake headline — “80 Years After Hitler Failed, Nazis Finally Seize London” — lasted only hours on Sunday before it became true as Britain caved to organized anti-Semites. Above all, to speed up the release of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza by Hamas, there must be as few "pauses" as possible, and no let-up by Israel in military pressure. While the Israelis were urging the residents of northern Gaza to move south to avoid being caught in the cross-fire, Hamas leaders were ordering Gazans not to move to safety, and shooting at them as they tried to flee -- presumably so that Hamas could have more dead bodies to show the television crews how evil the Israelis supposedly are.

The barbaric concept of retaliation also implies the equally savage concept of proportionality. If your primitive tribe of desert bandits kill too many of the other clan, they might retaliate against you. You need to make sure your blood vengeance is proportional. To societies that seek the betterment of humanity, proportionality is a meaningless statement. Something is either an evil that needs to be eliminated or it’s not. Otherwise the United State should apologize to Nazi Germany for killing too many of them. Should Israel really try to find a music festival in Gaza and kill the exact number of people,

Either having open borders is a good public policy or it isn’t. At least in my simpleminded view people whose job it is to set policy should do so based on what is good for the country. That’s not how Aaron Blake of the Washington Post sees things, at least from his point of view as a political analyst. For him, it is all about the polling. Democrats could get away with open borders while the Democrat base was OK with it. But now that Democrats don’t care for it, it may be time to change policies. President Joe Biden’s campaign is previewing their 2024 theme for the central issue of immigration: Donald Trump will make the border chaos even worse. “He’s promising to make it worse: Rounding up Latinos into mass detention camps, ending birthright citizenship, and shooting people at will,” says a Thanksgiving Day script from the Biden campaign. The Democrat pitch completely ignores Biden’s border record. Since 2021, Biden has helped his corporate donors by extracting millions of migrants from poor countries to help flood the U.S. labor and housing markets. Those migrants gravitated toward the major Democrat-run cities, spiked inflation, reduced wages, and drained job-creating investment from heartland states.
