The dramatic indictment of Sen. Bob Menendez on federal indictment charges raised a slew of questions about the New Jersey senator’s political future in Washington, as calls for Menendez’s resignation proliferate among his Democratic colleagues in the Senate.
But for New Jersey, the indictment raised a different question: Why can’t the Garden State shake its reputation as one of the corruption capitals of the U.S.?Of course, that reputation is partly the product of Hollywood hype, with films like On the Waterfront and TV shows like The Sopranos depicting the state as a hotbed of political duplicity and deceit.

No mention was made about the corrupt media. When the media ignores corruption or covers it up, the citizens aren't aware. The only time the corrupt media will go after a politician is if it's a conservative or Republican, it's been that way for probably the past 30-40 years. Look how they ignored all the rape accusations against Clinton, none of them even investigated them. But if it had been a Republican, all hell breaks loose. The only time that I can remember is here in Washington state in 1992 when our Democrat Senator Brock Adams was credibly accused of drugging and molesting young women. He didn't run for re-election in 1992 and that friends, is how we got patty Murray.

I should have added that the Seattle Times was the newspaper that kept on that story. One of the reasons was that the last woman to accuse Adams was from a prominent well off family and they had a lot of influence in this area. But, the first accusation against him was made in 1986, so that's how long it took before the accusations were taken seriously.

Because my two beautiful Daughters’ Dad lived there and granddad was a judge in unsafe way back then, Camden.
Not to worry, Our Heavenly Father promised to be ‘father to the fatherless, and husband to the widow,’ Psalm 67:5…
He has been faithful, beyond imagination.
Praise Him!
People ask me why I have not remarried.
Sad to share, ‘Because I’ve never met anyone who would love Our Heavenly Father more than me,’ after several proposals…
Very blessed to have an MBA from 15 years in bank management, and another Masters in Biblical Counseling from Masters U in Santa Clarita/LA.
And now coming alongside families and ladies in my dynamic Bible Church in Cupertino, across from Apple Circle!

Oguzhan Dincer indicates more voter participation would reduce corruption. I think not since most of the new voters coming on have been stupidized by the crappy school systems.

New Jersey politics is so corrupt we are innocent.
Corruption is not only accepted, it's practically obligatory. Any politician not
willing to stoop to it is considered haughty and undeserving--someone who will balk
at some point in pursuing and defending our interests.
A corrupt politician is a friend to the people, and in turn, is sustained by the people
as a raspberry in the face of the elite.

Perhaps it is, as I always believed, Something in the Water there.
Closer to home (for me), Louisiana has been famously home to some 'colorful' politicians, from Huey 'The Kingfish' Long, to Edwin Edwards, to Ray Nagin.
Huey Long was assassinated, Edwin Edwards and Ray Nagin wound up in The Pen.
