Senator Dianne Feinstein has died at 90 years old, ABC7 Insider Phil Matier has confirmed. Her career was one of many firsts. She was the first woman president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the first woman mayor of San Francisco, and one of two of the first women elected to the U.S. Senate from California.
"Dianne Feinstein, right from the start, was an icon for women in politics," said former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Senator Chuck Schumer adds, "She's a legend. A legend in California as the first woman senator. A legend in the Senate. She was the leader on so many different issues."

However, she will attend today's committee meeting and will take questions thereafter.

And she's still more aware of what's going on around her than Joe Biden and John Fetterman.

She went out feet first because she was that power hungry. Wealth and power were the only things that mattered to her. That's why she went to Washington. She was so greedy she could never retire or enjoy other things in life.
Schumer calls her a legend and leader. She was nothing but a greedy politician only out for herself. Pelosi called her an icon. She was a symbol for what is wrong in Washington.

So now Mitch is the majority leader until a replacement is named? Or do the rules of the Senate require Chuck to still be in charge with 2 independents and an open casket?

Proving once again the old adage that the only way to take power away from a socialist is to pry it from their cold fingers.
And unless Schiff-for-Brains can convince Newsom that he's a black female, he's not getting the appointment to back-fill Feinstein's seat. That will go to Barbara Lee, who'll add to the Rats' clown car contingent in the Senate.

I had a small soft spot in my heart for early DiFi. Later she got cranky and bigoted "the dogma lives loudly within you" said to Amy Coney Barrett. But I will pray for her soul.

She actually had quite a life. Too bad so much of it promoted the downfall of our country. Now Gov. Grecian Formula will have to appoint a temporary replacement that every little faction will be squabbling over.

Could this provide Dems with opportunity to replace Kamala? Gov. Gruesome stated that he wanted a woman of color to replace Feinstein, so Kamala could return to her roots in CA. Question would be who would replace the current VP without increasing pressure to impeach Joe “80 is the new 100” Biden.

Nightmare scenario- Newsom appoints Kamala to DiFi’s seat. Biden then names Newsom to replace Kamala as VP. Biden then resigns and Newsom is presidente, running as incumbent next year, and eligible to run in ‘28 (assuming we still have elections by 2028). Now, will everyone play along? Harris would get a lifetime safe seat, she’d leave feet first just like DiFi. Brandon gets a way out and can pardon Hunter on his way out the door. Dr. Jill wouldn’t be pleased, Harris probably thinks (if she DOES think) she has a good shot of being president just by sitting tight, but the puppet masters might not give them a choice. The democrats get rid of their dementia and Harris problems. Might make “womxn” and blacks unhappy by shoving Harris out the door, but they probably figure these constituencies would still vote for Newsom over Trump, at least by enough to get them within the cheat margin.

I actually knew her, lived and worked in the Bay Area for some time, she and her staff were very responsive on local issues, and cutting through red tape..she was not a knee jerk, leftwing "New Left" semi/demi Maoist like most Bay Area Dems, but she certainly was dragged that way in recent years. I also worked for Bob Dole, and worked for W, she was willing to work with both.
Yes, she hung on toooo long....but her replacement is going to be harder to deal with than she ever was...quite likely Impossible to "Deal" with.
As far as her placeholder/temp replacement? Don't be surprised if it's Pelosi. And the battle royale for those two permanent seats gets quite ugly.

I'm surprised Feinstein lasted this long. What was the sense of dying at her senate desk instead of showing herself the door years ago. The lust for power.
Elsewhere from the dim side, I suspect fellow dinosaur Jimmah may be next. He will be 99 on Friday. Pubbie Senator Grassley is no spring chicken either. He is 90

Politics is the most grotesque part of human civilization imaginable. In what other part of life can a leftist news agency call her an “icon” while the vast majority of conservatives consider her to have been a very evil woman?

Don't hate DiFi as much as the other dims. Back when Slick Willie was caught with his pants down she, like the others, defended. Then when Slick fessed up she was the only one who wanted to Censure Slick.

And like that, it is time to pounce now that she has left her void in the senate.

Article relies on ambiguity to distort the truth. She was not even close to being the first woman in the Senate, nor even the first Democrat woman in the Senate. Not even the first Democrat woman elected to the U.S. Senate.
The first woman U.S. Senator was a Democrat appointed for a day a century ago. The first several were Democrats appointed to their position. Diane was the first woman to be one of California's U.S. Senators. And while she won reelection several times, she first became Senator by special election to finish (2 months) the term of Pete Wilson (who resigned to become Governor).

After a few years stationed at Pearl Harbor HI onboard a ship it was time for a shore duty rotation. I got to the Bay Area in CA at Alameda NAS. I got there just after Di Fi, Barbara Boxer, Carol Moseley Braun, Patty Murray and Barbara Mikulski became Senator in the 1992 year of the woman election. Which to identity politically minded democrats at the time was a good thing. Di Fi in particular just became another in the line of DC swamp creatures who died in office instead of retiring. RIP.

#22, according to the 25th Amendment, the person nominated to fill a vacancy for vice president has to be approved by a majority vote by both houses of Congress. The Senate might vote (barely) to approve Newsom, but the House wouldn't.
