Popular Wired magazine says Ring cameras
turn owners into vigilantes

Original Article

Posted By: DVC, 7/11/2023 4:46:37 PM

Vigilantism occurs when mobs bypass the legal system to murder someone accused, but not convicted, of a crime. However, according to Wired, the venerable technology magazine, when homeowners work with law enforcement to turn over Ring footage of criminals on their (or their neighbors’) property, they are engaging in vigilantism…and are probably racists, too. Aside from being a witless perversion of language, it reveals the anti-black racism at work in leftist circles. According to Dictionary.com, a core element of being a vigilante is to act outside of the law: noun 1. a member of a vigilance committee.

Comments:

A good article. Wired is leftist and racist, and vigilantism has nothing whatsoever to do with Ring doorbells and giving evidence to the police.
The author, uncharacteristically, shows "TV ignorance" of Vigilance Committees history - only thinking they are what was shown in TV shows. Look up the history of their use twice at a grand scale in San Francisco. They were a close approximation of a court and a trial, and cleared out massive corruption.

I disagree with this author. First, if a person is willing give up incriminating evidence, the constitution is silent. Second, can’t do the time, don’t do the crime…does not have “protected” categories (except for politicians)

All that Ring owners are doing is providing evidence in defense of a crime perpetrated against them and this video is factual evidence. You could just shoot them and drag the bodies away then there would be no arguments about who did it.

If I just blew away the peep then called 911 for clean-up, that would be "vigilantism," or a community service shooting.

But the real question is how the racist white-supremacist manufacturers of CCTV equipment program the software in their cameras to catch Black people committing crimes far out of proportion to their numbers in the general population? I mean, that's blatant discrimination and they should be held liable for that.

I see quite a few RIng videos posted on local websites. Sometimes they capture people stealing catalytic converters, Amazon packages, and even Christmas decorations. It's very rare (IMO) for the camera to help knab a perpetrator. They don't even try to disguise themselves or avoid the camera. So much for vigilantism.

The camera records behavior. It makes no judgment regarding the actions of the individuals it records. Politicians and the MSM, eager to control the January 6 narrative, were able to sell their "insurrection" narrative only until videos of non-violent people, quietly wandering around in off-limits areas, were released. Propagandists trying to convince Americans their country and people are hate-filled bigots, demanded videos be locked far away from the American people so they could not compare what they were told by their leaders, with what they could see happening in the videos. There's a reason Police wear cameras. It preserves a record of what happened. The camera can't record police violence that didn't happen any more than in can record a theft in progress that never happened. How odd that anyone would object to a camera simply recording events as they happen in the front or back yard.

Giving evidence to police is the legal process. But nowadays it's often in vain, as arrests for burglary tend to get the revolving door of justice, back on the street without bail in short order. Thank you, George Soros.

Last week, the Supreme Court handed down 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis, in which it held that the government cannot force people to engage in expressive speech that offends them. Two days later, Al Franken put out a tweet intended to denigrate the decision. Instead, the Harvard-educated “comedian” accidentally revealed just how good the Supreme Court opinion was. I’m not a huge fan of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch because it was he who issued the staggeringly incorrect decision holding that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 extends to “gender identity.” However, when it comes to Free Speech, Gorsuch nailed it. In 303 Creative, his decision lucidly explains

“Ponzi Scheme” is a term that was coined about 100 years ago. It was named after an Italian immigrant, Charles Ponzi, who realized he could get investors by promising large returns for undefined, high-yield investments. His endeavor needed to make just enough money to keep attracting new investors, whose money, after Ponzi’s cut, was used to pay some of the earlier investors. In our modern day, Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme resulted in losses in the billions of dollars when the stock market tanked during the Great Recession. Selling the Deal Americans are just beginning to see the tip of the iceberg of their own trillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, Social Security (“SSA”).

The Supreme Court handed down a definitive ruling against the use of racial preferences in college admissions, declaring in a 6-3 decision on Thursday: “Eliminating racial discrimination means eliminating all of it.” The syllabus opinion in Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College notes that any exceptions to that principle — based on the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution — “must survive a daunting two-step examination known as “strict scrutiny.” Unless the discrimination is for a “compelling” government interest, and is “necessary” to achieve it, it is unconstitutional.

I’m not sure what that list says about me, particularly the inclusion of Valley Girl, but I’m sure some psychiatrist somewhere could say there’s something to be taken from it. The one thing I can observe from my list is that most of my movies have a good guy vs. bad guy conflict

On Friday’s broadcast of C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” Rep. Those conservatives rightly outraged at the Trump indictment keep comparing his treatment to that given to Hillary, Biden, and Pence, each of whom admitted to violating national security laws. That’s the wrong argument because Trump is not similarly situated to those lawbreakers. Instead, because he was president when he took possession of the documents, Trump cannot be guilty of the crimes with which he’s charged. It starts with the Constitution, which created three equal branches of government: The legislative branch (Art. I), the executive (presidential) branch (Art. II), and the judiciary (Art. III).
