Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville has single-handedly blocked numerous officers’ confirmations in protest of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s directive that the military fund out-of-state travel for female troops seeking abortions, initiating a game of chicken between Tuberville and the Pentagon that shows no sign of stopping. Yet several of the candidates in line for promotion have a history of making political statements and backed or spearheaded

Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, issued her first smackdown of Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Judge Cannon on Monday denied Jack Smith’s motion to keep a list of 84 potential witnesses under seal in the classified documents case.
The judge said Jack Smith failed to explain why it was necessary to keep the names of the witnesses a secret. Jack Smith was also trying to block Trump and his alleged co-conspirator, Walt Nauta, from communicating with the 84 witnesses.
On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) discussed claims by whistleblowers about the Hunter Biden investigation and noted that President Joe Biden has previously “lied” about his family’s business dealings when he claimed that his son never made money in China.
McCarthy said, “The whole reason you have the WhatsApp message is because of the work the House Republicans have been doing. Not just [with] Rep. James Comer (R-KY), not just [with] Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), but this was in Ways and Means under Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO). These are IRS long-term workers
What I value most about MSNBC’s new lineup is the ability of its hosts to do hard-hitting interviews with adverse guests. No Fox News–like softballs here; instead we get former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki interviewing former Democratic House speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the results are every bit as explosively contentious as you would expect from two people who have been blowing kisses to one another over an explicitly shared political agenda for the last several years. (I assume it was not Psaki’s bona fides as a commentator wot got her the job as the Biden administration’s mouthpiece.)

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday lifted its hold on a Louisiana political remap case, increasing the likelihood that the Republican-dominated state will have to redraw boundary lines to create a second mostly Black congressional district.
For more than a year, there has been a legal battle over the GOP-drawn political boundaries, with a federal judge, Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards and opponents saying that the map is unfair and discriminates against Black voters.
The map, which was used in Louisiana’s November congressional election, has white majorities in five of six districts, all currently held by Republicans. This is despite Black people accounting for one-third of the state’s population.
FBI Director Christopher Wray will appear before the House Judiciary Committee on July 12, a source familiar with the scheduling confirmed to the Daily Caller.
Republicans on the committee have criticized the bureau at length for allegedly conducting politicized investigations, including Operation Crossfire Hurricane. Members are also likely to ask about investigations into former President Donald Trump and first son Hunter Biden, who recently pleaded guilty to two tax misdemeanors. Wray last testified before Congress in Nov. 2022, when he appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Wray’s scheduled appearance was first reported by Punchbowl News.

We’ve long been critical of Hollywood’s lack of fresh, new ideas and its apparent fascination with rebooting past films or giving us a sequel decades later. Sadly, merely paying homage to the original material is insufficient. Instead, producers opt to incorporate “wokeness,” believing it will be more appealing to modern viewers, but in the process, they end up taking something beloved and turning it into garbage that the masses don’t want to see.

So here in San Diego, where we are under a state mandate to recycle our green garbage -- food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard clippings -- fresh new environmental problems are abounding.
