The agreement reached Saturday night between Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden is an historic first step toward shifting government back toward common sense and conservatism. It is a step toward creating a smaller government, lower taxes, less regulation, economic growth, prosperity, and more take home pay. All of this will also strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
I emphasize it’s a first step because that is what I lived through in 1995 in our first year as a Republican House majority (the first in 40 years). Step by step, we got budget changes, moved from welfare to work, cut taxes, and reduced bureaucratic regulatory overkill.

FTA: 'I outline how we shifted government from the left to the right and achieved welfare reform and four balanced budgets in my new book "March to the Majority." ' I'm sure that's merely a coincidence. But thanks for the numbered list of reasons the commiecrats will never live up to their vaporware promises.

If his contract with America was so great, why are we so much farther in the hole now than we were then?
It all looks great written out, but historically they will not deliver. Dont listen to what they say, look at what they do. What they do is spend us into the Wiemar Republic without pause. Shut it down. Most of what they do is not provided for in The Constitution.

Basically, congress as a whole has failed for years on its constitutional fiscal responsibilities…on both sides of congress, on the aisles in between, and in every nook and cranny. This current last minute agreement between the two major parties is just that…the leader of the us according to pelosi, and our chief executive officer….and is a must pass in congress this week. To vote otherwise is a rank malfeasance on top of years of congressional misfeasance. Congress critters…you do not want to tickle the tail of this dragon.

Uncle Newtie is a couple of years past his use by date. I have seen nothing to be happy about in that deal. Same old, same old.

Sorry Newt don't share your optimism.
How many dollars will out government be printing now that the debt ceiling has risen? Wait and see how much more inflation increases now that the deal is done. Btw, all the shouting was for show. The end result was pre-ordained. They know their actions are destroying the country.

"A step towards". Politics is the art of the possible. Right now with the Senate and WH controlled by Dems, there was no better deal available. This is better than the Demonrats wanted and a lot worse than conservatives wanted.
Bending the curve slightly is as much of a "victory" as is currently possible. Too many damned leftists in the government, and RINO Repubs helping them.

The Republican House totally neuters itself, surrendering all leverage it has until 2025, and we are fed this spiel that everything will be great, spending an additional $4 Trillion. NO! We will be a lot better of by NOT raising the debt ceiling at all. Don't bother with the nonsense that the government has nowhere that it can cut spending. This deal does nothing but continue the progressive growth of government, which already decides every minute detail of our lives. They couldn't cut the new FBI HQ's, the 87K IRS agents, the new increase in the IRS budget, the State Dept budget that is spent illegally on getting Biden re-elected, the Pentagon budget that sends 85B in equipment to Afghanistan and abandons it, the funding of the Palestinians, the 100% funding of Ukraine, the funding of human trafficking of illegals into our country? This deal is total slop, and should be ripped to shreds, like Pelosi ripped Trumps to speech, sitting right behind his back!

Defunding the IRS expansion is huge . To diminish what Newt accomplished, including blowing Hillarycare out of the water, is to demonstrate gaps in one’s knowledge.

You can't always get everything you want at once.
As Newt says this is a 1st step.
We hold the House, retake Senate & WH to get more.
Just imagine if GOP didn't have House to hold Joey at bay.
