Ron DeSantis is flat out wrong on Ukraine
and the role US should play

After months of near-silence and innuendo, Florida Gov. and GOP presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis decided to speak about Ukraine, removing all doubt about his position. While his statement on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show makes a handful of valid points, it is ridden with a fundamental misunderstanding of the war and US geopolitical interests. First, the good. DeSantis is correct to criticize the Biden administration’s lack of clear objectives in its support for “as long as it takes,” which is a recipe for a long and intractable conflict — which Americans would be right to reject.

Okay, I think we all agree that Putin's invasion of Ukraine is wrong.
But I'm not sure it is worth the gutting of our own military supplies And our fine European allies are again sitting there, letting Uncle Sucker pick up the tab.
Well, one thing you can say about Sleepy Creepy Crooked President Uncle Joe, is that he meets the definition of an "honest politician." That's when you've been bought off, you stay bought off.

The author has links to American Enterprise Institute and most are aware of their ideology and promotion of American Hegemony even if it means continuous war across the globe. He does finally admit that this is not about Ukraine and its people but about weakening China via Russia. Also, he is flat out wrong/perhaps overtly lying when he states there is no talk of regime change: listen to McCain's protege Lindsey Graham, listen Canadian Foreign Affairs Joly state that regime change is the goal. Listen to UK's Truss. Regime change may not be finalized on paper but it is the plan.

I wish for Putin nothing more pleasant than to be poisoned with ricin--something he has done to others before--or to have some Russian assassin named Lee Harvski give him a smoke check. (What's a smoke check? Poke a bunch of hole in him and see if there's any smoke in there.) The punishment would be condign if Vlad's invasion of Ukraine resulted in his ouster, alive or dead, whether sooner or later, and after much destruction of Russian treasure and unnecessary loss of life on both sides.
That said, the blank check we've provided for Zelenskyyy is absurd. A lot of bad things happen all over the world, including places outside Ukraine, and we can't fix it all, nor should we try. Zelensky is no democrat. He's just got an extra "Y" gene. Ukraine is not America's jungle, and these are not our monkeys. Gov. DeSantis's instincts are proper if he doubts the neocons. Good for him. Those who hate DeSantis are not even Republicans; they're globalists, WEFers. And I do mean effers.

Money laundering does make for strange bedfellows. Neocoms, leftists, Pelosi, the Biden Crime syndicate, the NEA… they want this war so the can go get their suitcases full of our money. Now that this is finally starting to sink in to the public, I’m hoping there’s a lot more resistance to getting Ukraine anything at all… even Nerf Guns.

Yes, please. Let's do to Ukrainians and their country what we did to the south Vietnamese, Afghanis, and Iraqis. As a bonus, we can enrich politicians, oligarchs, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Halliburton, General Dynamics, etc to the tune of trillions.
Because "freedom".

Ukraine is the biggest diplomatic disaster this nation has ever created. WE instigated, supported and condoned the overthrow of a constitutionally, legally elected government based on agreements made during the breakup of the Soviet Union, a nation which lasted 70 years and fought the greatest war in the history of the world defeating the Nazis. The West did not keep their agreements. This is the source of this conflict, period. Then to add insult to injury, WE welcomed NATO into Ukraine deliberately provoking a response from Russia, ON THEIR BORDER. WE nearly went to nuclear war over Russian missiles in Cuba in 1962 so what were we thinking? Apparently, we don't think anymore. Democrats who are historically anti-war supported the conflict because Russia does not support their social agenda and is an impediment to its world-wide adoption. Of course, 2/3rds of the world doesn't either, including China, India, Africa and the Mideast who are all aligning with Russia through BRICS to ensure they are not sanctioned out of business when they don't support US hegemony policies or directives. The Biden administration is the most incompetent and underhanded administration this nation has ever seen. The public is shielded from the realities of the conflict.

“The rest, alas, is a hot mess, starting with a series of straw-man arguments warning against “deployment of American troops,” which nobody is advocating,”
Author intentionally forgets LBJ’s pre election promise in 1964 that “I will not send American boys to fight in Vietnam”. A promise made while Johnson had plans on his desk to send 300,000 US troops to fight in Vietnam. Author also forgets that the Special Forces attack in Afghanistan to get Osama Bin Laden was followed by 20 plus years of conventional war and a humiliating defeat under Biden. Wars never go as planned, and Ukraine is not an easy war. And “straw men” end of being young Americans who die in poorly thought out wars.

No he's not. The Ukrainians and the Rus have been going at each other for a millennia. This is not a new conflict. It's a carryover from the Russian Empire days. Anyone who has read/studied any history knows that. We are not threatened by either, period, no joke. Both 45 and DeSantis are correct.
Only the neocons and the MIC are for this conflict. Both are being enriched by the conflict. This is real life Orwellian 1984 - we are Oceania, whereas the Ukraine and the Rus are Eurasia and EastAsia respectively. After all Newspeak is the language of the Deep State.

Anyone with an open mind should read this well reasoned and accurate look at why DeSantis has gone entirely off the raiks on this topic.
Claiming that US troops are at risk is a disingenuous line of BS. Noobe gas ever mentioned US troops in ANY context, and Ukraine has never asked for anything beyond weapons to defend themselves with.
And deposing Putin is both far outside of our capacity, and only something that Russian can decide. There has been no serious debate on that topic at all.
But, the Russian disinformation view has apparently been entirely embraced by far too many normally sensible and reasonable conservatives. Unfortunately, DeSantis' advisers have done him a serious disservice with their bad advice on this topic.

This is not a "good guy vs bad guy" kind of war. They are both bad guys.
We do not have a treaty promising to defend Ukraine if they are invaded. Ukraine is not a member of NATO. There is exactly zero reasons for the US to get involved in this disaster. Yet we are billions and billions of dollars invested in this insane war, with no end in site and no accountability for the weapons and money that we have given to Ukraine (other than the receipts for the Christmas shopping that Mrs. Zelensky did in those fancy boutiques in Paris last December while the people in her country were suffering).
I am old enough to remember the Vietnam War. Sadly, this feels exactly like that. We started out by giving the South Vietnamese money and weapons. We, of course had to send over "advisors" to make sure they were using those weapons correctly. This is the point that we are in this Ukraine/Russia war. If this war continues at this rate, it will become WW-III, and we will have our very unprepared (but totally woke) troops on the ground being slaughtered for something we never had to get involved with in the beginning.
DeSantis is right. And I do believe that Putin respects and fears Trump enough to actually end this war quickly if Trump is elected in 2024. But for the next year and a half, expect a giant stalemate with lots of people dying and being hurt, and lots of our tax dollars going to waste while this country suffers through a mass invasion of illegal aliens and massive inflation and a recession!!!!!

FTA: f anything, the crude pattern seems to suggest that aggressive, “hardline” leaders are followed by more cautious ones — Stalin was succeeded by Khrushchev, Brezhnev (essentially) by Gorbachev, and Ivan the Terrible by Boris Godunov.
Yeh. Sure. South Africa is better now? Ghadaffi was followed by.... who? And of course, the Ataytollah was more moderate than the Shah.

I love my country but I will not allow my 18-year-old (and/or 12-year-old, if this conflict goes on that long) to die fighting in a foreign conflict we have no business getting involved in. This is madness.
My oldest turned 18 this past December and signed up with the Selective Service (as required by law.) This illegal administration better not think of re-starting the draft cause they won't find MY kids fighting in Ukraine or Russia.
I'd gladly join them IF our OWN home soil was attacked. That's worth fighting for.
NOT to enrich the military-industrial complex General Eisenhower warned us about.

Lack of any accountability. Sending our weaponry to Ukraine. I did not see any news about Congress being in the loop so to speak. Biden just sent money and guns to Ukraine. I saw Zelinsky kissing up to Pelosi. Making speeches to Congress and the UN. Still no accountabilty any where. I Thought Zelinsky was not one of the crooked politicians. Wrong on everything. Kristol, and the Senator from S. Carolina on the air ranting, "We must go to war..." or words to that effect. Not much help from NATO. Just us. Stop it now. We have too many bad things going on in our country we need to take care of.

Ukraine is where DC launders US taxpayer dollars that have been dispensed in those trillion dollar appropriation bills that nobody in Congress is allowed to read but are forced to vote for if they know what's good for them. DC is willing to spill American blood and treasure to protect their financial interests at all costs.

Sorry Mr Rohan but bleeding us dry and throwing money down an endless pit as you advocate it ridiculous.
1 Europe is not paying enough and pulling their weight.
2. Demented Joe and his stupid oil fossil fuel policy is hurting the anti-Russian war effort. We need again to become an oil producing dominant player. Drive down the world oil price. I believe the magic number is around $78 a barrel. In doing so Russia and Putin’s economy is wrecked. They have no money to fund the war. Their economy is wrecked they lost a war and they will suffer greatly there after on the world stage. They will be third world while Ukraine joins Europe and will thrive!
But no the liberals and their green policies would rathe4 bleed us dry for a war and cost that currently has no end. Their end will require NATO and US troops on the ground. Keep this up an we will need a draft.
