SOMERSET, Pennsylvania — When you walk into the Terrace Lanes bowling alley on Pennsylvania State Road 31, the first thing you will see is Althea Shaw’s broad smile. Her warm greeting has a way of making customers, both regulars and first-timers, feel as though they belong. “The Sleek Family opened up their doors in November of 1995,” Shaw told me. “I started exactly one year later, and I have been here ever since. As far as I am concerned, it is the best job I could ever hope for. I get to meet new people all the time, see regulars almost every day,

Salena Zito is a gem, a journalist in the true sense of the word. Her articles on what the left snobbishly refers to as flyover country give one a sense of the real America…the one we oldsters remember. Perhaps all is not lost…

Lovely article. Refreshing 1st read for the day. We belonged to a bowling league when we were first married, our kids also bowled with us and their friends. During Covid the lanes where shut down and the owner of the lanes for 50+ years couldn't afford to sit idle, he sold them and the developer tore them down and built yet another building for office space, which I believe isn't full...What a waste

Parents bowled so we learned how on youth leagues & then as a date option in teenage years. Married USAF 2nd Louie and was nearly mandatory to be on couples team at base alley. Hubs was good at it; I was tolerable, but became a professional cheerleader to support all the other's efforts. Our kids learned how, first with bumpers, then with the tears, in the gutters, until they got it right down the center--left or right of the head pin. Bags got donated a few years back from sitting dusty in closet with him advancing in myasthenia gravis & too unsteady to get out or pick up his ball. I can hear the clatter tho when I drive by & it's a good memory! Go Bowling!!

I haven't bowled a frame in 50 years but I often drop in because I will always find old freinds on the lanes or in the lounge. I can't find many anywhere else - even in Church.

The bigger takeaway I think is that we are rapidly losing our ability to socialize in groups. All of us here are in Ldot to find common spirits, but we now need NEED to reconnect to people in person, socially, apolitically. Our nation's soul depends on it. Anybody in Southeastern Wisconsin and beyond want to set up a social event in person?

Republicans on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee have turned their focus to Hunter Biden’s art sales as a part of the panel’s larger probe into the first family’s business dealings. Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) sent a letter Wednesday to Georges Bergès, owner of the Georges Bergès Gallery, seeking information about sales of Hunter Biden’s paintings and an agreement crafted with the White House to keep the buyers of the artworks confidential.

On January 1, the world celebrated New Year’s Day—a holiday of self-reflection, self-renewal, and hope. In Ukraine, the focus was different. There, January 1 marks the birthday of Stepan Bandera, Ukraine’s Nazi national hero. Bandera is the founding father of Ukrainian Nazism and his birthday is a national holiday. In Ukraine, paying homage to their most famous antisemite and leading Nazi collaborator of World War II, is a very big deal. Calling All Nazis Under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the level of Nazi influence and control in Ukraine has been unprecedented. Zelenskyy outlawed all 11 independent and opposition political parties but left the parties and organizations of his Nazi partners

Tell us how you really feel about House Republicans’ commitment to vote on a national sales tax! And more important, on dispatching the IRS to history’s proverbial ash heap. Journal editorialists once served as an intellectual vanguard for the Reagan Revolution and conservative thought. Now that posse can’t shake its reflexive shilling for a corporate donor class sold-out to out-of-touch, out-of-control woke capitalism

The George Santos story is truly emblematic of our times. He arrived from Brazil full of ambition and running fast from creditors. A man of modest means and talents, he soon sought to increase his status and became involved with the Republican Party. He ran for Congress as a married, Catholic Republican a few years ago, but lost to an incumbent. Determined to win, he then reinvented himself as a gay, Jewish Republican and won the now-open seat. It turned out his opponent and the media were both asleep at the switch. His prior-claimed jobs at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, his college degree, his religion

Those who have voiced concerns about the dangers that drag events, such as Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH), pose for children (namely, sexualization and grooming) have been told that those concerns are baseless, that the events are harmless, that it is all just entertainment and fun, and that attending drag events is a way to understand the gay culture. In a new interview with Fox News's Bret Baier, former South Carolina governor and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley walked close to the line of declaring her candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. "I'm not going to make an announcement here," Haley said. "But when you're looking at a run for president, you look at two things. You first look at, does the current situation push for new leadership? The second question is, am I that person that could be that new leader?"

In December 2022, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland announced that her department would expedite plans to build solar energy farms on up to 100 million acres of untouched public land in five Western states, in a bid to "tackle climate change." The announcement has garnered little to no national attention, save for the occasional report that the Biden administration is expanding renewable energy production. National outlets took a far more critical approach to Trump-era land use proposals. "

President Joe Biden has awarded EcoHealth Alliance – a controversial non-profit that partnered with the Wuhan Institute of Virology on manipulating viruses similar to COVID-19 – with new multi-million dollar grants for pandemic-related research. Run by notorious COVID-19 “natural origins” propagandist and Chinese Communist Party-funded researcher Peter Daszak, EcoHealth Alliance received millions of dollars from Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Health (NIH) agency for work on “killer” viruses. Summaries of their joint research – recently wiped from the Chinese lab’s website – reveal scientists creating “chimeric” viruses that spread in humans at rates “equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.”

One of the strangest parts of the COVID-19 pandemic has been all of the public health “experts” who openly lied to the American people while expecting to be lauded as heroes in response. Certainly, most have witnessed Dr. Anthony Fauci’s grotesque level of arrogance over the years, with numerous examples of the good doctor admitting to lying in order to get the outcome he desired from the public. As it turns out, in the year 2023, there aren’t that many station wagons on the road, period. “The standard data provider for new vehicle sales doesn’t even break down wagons anymore,” says Kevin Roberts, director of industry insights and analytics at CarGurus. “Most of the time, they’ll probably end up classified as a crossover or a hatchback.” Some data aggregators have “station wagon” as a trim or body variant, but you’ll be hard-pressed

Perhaps someone along the way told me tht I was going to the United States; however, as a seven or eight-year-old I knew nothing about the nation that had granted me refuge. Upon disembarking in New York what stood out was not the awe-inspiring and intimidating skyscrapers seemingly reaching to the heavens, or for the first time in my life seeing a city not lying in ruins from the ravages of war, but that there was a palpable atmosphere of confidence, optimism,

The Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and confirmed WEF goon Chrystia Freeland has determined that the American middle class “needs a pay cut.” Following an anecdote of an unnamed person who gave her the idea, she explicitly confirms her belief that the prescription for a middle-class wealth downgrade is the correct policy position but mentions the “very difficult” political and social sell to the middle class. As we slide further down the slope into multinational technocracy, the rhetoric will gradually shift in this direction. The “green” revolution and veganism and other energy and food restriction schemes began, if you can recall, with promises of economic expansion

On the one hand, I’m struck with admiration for yet another one of James O’Keefe’s bold strokes against the corrupt empire that now dominates our world. On the other hand, I’m shocked by the disclosure that the Empire is staffed by such moral and intellectual lightweights. Though incredible, it appears that the subject of O’Keefe’s latest sting, Jordon Walker, really is a Pfizer Director of Research & Development Strategic Operations. Here he is giddily talking about deliberately mutating SARS-CoV-2 by means of “directed evolution” in order to keep Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine gravy train going.
