Disney is preparing for Republicans to take control of the House, as polls suggest the party has an edge over Democrats in the days before the midterm elections.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek has been having private phone calls this year with House Republican leaders including Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., according to people briefed on the matter. Scalise is in line to become House majority leader if Republicans take control of the chamber, which would make him the No. 2 official in the majority party. These people briefed on the calls declined to be named in order to speak about private conversations. Asked about Chapek's engagement with Scalise and other House

Aw, poor Disney. Instead of focusing on being wholesome and the Happiest Place on Earth, they decided into jumping into the cesspool of politics and "brilliantly" picked the wrong side of an issue about kids that makes so much sense that even most dems were OK with it. It makes you wonder what those Disney characters are really thinking, humm? They poisoned one of the most successful brands ever.
There is no "explaining" their position. It's wrong. Walk away from it and plead temporary insanity. Don't try to smooze the Republicans into not going after Disney for their stupidity. Stop supporting the dopey issue, that you should have never picked up to begin with, and the Republicans will leave you alone. You can't pay the Republicans enough to support you in your current stance. Exposing young children to grooming for being gay is an anathema to their voters. It SHOULD be an anathema to Disney as well.
The sad thing about this is, if Disney had left the issue alone, the dems wouldn't have cared. Disney CHOSE to jump into the mess with an obviously unpopular opinion. "Go woke, get broke." Dopes.

From what I read online: the copyright for Mickey Mouse's original image (drawn in 1928) expires in 2024. Disney will apply for an extension. But a Republican Congress might ask for something in return.
In answer to #7's question about McCarthy: I would guess he will become Speaker of the House.

The politicization of EVERYTHING in America is a disgusting trend, and it MUST be reversed completely, otherwise fascism is the result.
When my company of 30+ years started hounding me, as a newly minted manager, to join their "lobbyist club," by donating a share of my paycheck in support of corporate political lobbying, I told them no way, reason being that I am firmly in the camp of "separation of business and state."

If Disney believes a few well placed calls to Republicans will make everything okay, they have another think coming. To any Republican who answers their call the only thing they should say is that Disney chose the path they are on and until the renounce their decision and change their policies, they cannot support the company in any way. No back door deals for this horrible company. There must be consequences for companies who knowingly and willingly support and enable the grooming of children.

The ‘Don’t say gay’ bill was branded by Democrats and had nothing to do with being gay. It simply prohibited sexual indoctrination of 5 year olds. Disney objected to the law. They are making very bad business decisions based on the CEO’s personal opinions. Now they are hiring Republican butt kissers trying to avoid pressure for supporting what is really child abuse. Every Republican door should stay firmly closed.

What a diversion making it sound like the change in responsible legislatures will affect Disney. Under CEO Chapek's highly compensated, politically motivated decisions the shareholders equity is on a $184 to $99/share rollercoaster ride to the bottom. For those dumb enough to own equities, enjoy the slide.

The House Republicans better watch out with who they are playing footsie with. Playing with the devil can be costly. And Disney is not a company you want to be associated with. Not a good clean American look for a company, child grooming, pedophilia, sexual perversion.

I was given Amazon's Alexa by my family last Christmas. It annoys me with news flashes as much as it helps me with weather and doorbell alerts. First news item from Alexa today was some crappola about Disney's new push to help children understand their ''body type.'' Oh yeah, as IF. God save us from dead cartoonists. That is an actual prayer, not just drama.

#’s 6 and 7, I believe that you’re confusing “majority leader” with “speaker of the house”.
I find myself wondering why, after being shot and almost killed by a demonrat, Steve Scalise would bother to even pick up the phone to talk to one. Especially one as rabid as Chapek.

I believe here is another issue coming up for Disney in the next Congress. The patin on Mickey Mouse is expiring and the House is the body that starts the renewal. Disney needs the patin to be extended, otherwise, any company/origanization can use those images for any means. Time for Disney to keep their mouth shut and learn from their mistake in FL.

Poster #5- I hope you're right, but I'd never make the mistake of saying, "you can't pay the Republicans enough......." , because they're politicians and our betters in DC all have a price. Think McConnell, Ryan, Cheney, etc.

Who is in charge of Congress or the White House should be irrelevant to the operations of the Disney Corporation. Disney is in the entertainment business. Chapek should be more concerned about the quality of Disney TV shows, movies, Theme Parks, and other Disney businesses. So far, Chapek has been politically toxic for shareholders of Disney. He may wish to rethink his priorities from Woke politic to smart business before he joins the ranks of Twitter employees in the unemployment line.
