Former Vice President Mike Pence delivered a speech in Florida Friday and pushed back against claims from former President Trump and his supporters that he had the ability to use his power to contest the 2020 presidential election. "There are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress, I possessed unilateral authority to reject electoral college votes," Pence said in the speech to the Federalist Society. "And this week, our former president said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong…I had no right to overturn the election."Pence continued,

So massively fraudulent election results must be accepted! Who knew? What a fool, but Pence and his staff hated President Trump and a fraudulent election keeping out of the White House was just fine with Judas Pence and to hell with We The People who legally voted! He's a POS!

So sick of this moron! He was not asked to overturn the election, just for more time. Moreover, that was asked by several state legislatures that have the SOLE constitutional authority to determine their election procedures. Pence, please go away and stay there!

Pence is wrong, wrong, wrong. First, all the references he sights apply to a LEGAL election. Pence sat on the same briefings as the POTUS. More than any person except Trump he knew how massively bogus the election was. Second, no one was asking him to overturn election results and appoint Presidents. All he was being asked (was) to return results from seven battleground states back to their legislaturest for reconsideration. He a perfect right and duty to do this. And the representatives from these states were BEGGING him to do just that. Third it is NOT disappointment but outrage and white hot anger (no pun). If he does not understand the difference he has no business in public life!

Pence is talking as a DC career UniParty insider who thinks he will be the Republican nominee in 2024. With a big majority of Republicans supporting Trump there is little chance of that happening. If the wimpy Republican are so stupid as to nominate Pence there is little doubt that the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats would stomp him into the gutter in the run up to the general election.

Pence was advised by Mark Short, his chief of Staff, who was a Never Trumper. At one point Trump banned him from the White House. A number of states had alternate electors. Pence could have sent those back to the states to determine the correct electors. The result would have been insufficient electors to determine the President on that day. The election of the President would then have gone to the House of Representatives who would vole based on one vote per state. In that instance, with more Republican states than democrats, Trump would have been reelected.

I've had four law classes, all related to real estate and family law. I have read opinions by people a lot more knowlegeable than me that opine Mike Pence could have and should have denied the election to Biden pending deeper examinations of voting laws in the several swing states. Biden would have been prohibited from taking even temporary possession of 1600 Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C.

Pence is correct. The Vice President does not have the authority to unilaterally declare the election invalid.
THINK, people... THINK! If this COULD be done and Pence did it, then Harris does it for the next election regardless of how badly Dementia Joe gets clobbered.
There was some very bad information circulating, likely planted by the freaking LEFT to make conservatives look stupid... and it WORKED.
Pence had no such power. He does have a role in the process but it is not that of being able to veto the Electoral College. Was the election stolen? Yes. It was. But Pence simply had no authority to do any such thing and if Trump thought he did... then Trump was wrong.

Pence is a weakling, using interference in an election as cover for not doing his job. Pence could easily have delayed for a couple or more weeks, before approving electors, and requested election officials to review their submissions, including instructions possibly of omitting any illegal ballots from the reported totals, which would have been nice.

I think Pence is right. And IMO some folks here lose track of a key distinction between knowing something and having proof of it. Yes, the election was stolen and we all know it. But Pence had no tangible proof of this in hand on January 6. For that you can blame the cowardly courts and our side's failure to seriously contest the Democrats' illegal mangling of state election laws under the cover of COVID

If you ever needed proof that the sewer (because it's so much worse than a swamp) of DC destroys everyone who spends too much time there, look at Mike Pence.
Good Christian man, and good VP -- as long as he didn't have to actually do anything. But when he had a constitutional responsibility to act in the face of overwhelming evidence of election theft by the Demon-Rats, and not "overturn" anything but simply delay it for a few days to allow for fair and honest investigation, he bent over and figurative said "may I have another"!!!! He has lost all respect, and his political career. Now he needs to get as far away from DC as he can to avoid losing what is left of his soul!!!
The sewer of DC turned him into a back-stabbing bureaucrat, and he needs to just take his shame and disappear into the annals of history!!!

I know many here will not accept the fact that the Constitution was indeed followed and Biden "selected" as our President. Pence had no power to stop anything. The basic facts are these:
1) There were 50 presidential elections held under the auspices of each state's legsilature.
2) The 50 state legislatures forwarded their electors based on the vote count.
3) The votes were opened and counted with the House and Senate observing. At this time objections could have been made. One was. All hell broke loose. The count was delayed, while those in charge agreed there would be no more objections.
4) Joe Biden was declared the winner.
If you have a problem with all this, let's go to step 2. SIX REPUBLICAN LEGISLATURES forwarded Biden electors despite apparent irregularities with their state's vote. (Recently all those six states were shown to have had mule-stuffed ballot boxes.) It is a bit unconcievable that SIX REPUBLICAN states would have had upsets for Joe. But the legislatures certified the electors, even while time was available for investigation. Ask yourself why none significantly did.
Trump and his campaign lawyers went to the courts, which have NO JURISDICTION. In fact, a Trump-appointed Federal Judge clearly explained that in his decision, directing the campaign to the state legislature for relief. To my knowledge, the Trump campaign never went to ONE legislature, not even demanding to be heard.
That's not to say the election was on the up-and-up. It is highly likely, near certain it was rigged. But counting the electoral votes is too late. All this should have been shoved down the throats of the SIX legislatures. Meanwhile, the boobs stood waiting for Sidney Powell's Kraken...anyone seen it yet? While others still expect Biden to be pulled from the White House and FPDT to re-assume the office. Yeah...right.

Leadership takes courage, a character attribute of individuals, not groups or committees or club members. People will follow or they won't, that's the courage. Pence didn't have what it takes to make that first step. If you believe the election results were illigitimate, tainted, rigged, then your obligation to your country is to courageously say so, not shrug your shoulders and say, huh, If Michael Pence did not realize at that point in time that the election results were illigitmate, he is unfit for office. Then and now.
Had he stood up for the eighty million people who legitimately voted for him, and for the President and the goals of that administration, others would have followed. They know it, we know it, they feared it, because they had been caught with dominion machines, overseas servers, boxes of ballots pulled out from under tables, ballot counts stop and restarted with the right number of curious ballots. And Pence joined the others, the status quo beltway republicans who could not endure four more years of Trump's success and momentum to clean the swamp, the rewrite the trade agreements that benefitted the insiders, the family members, the shipping magnates related to Senators, the hedge funds run by Senators, And Pence chose to eat with the Senate, not the people who held out hope for him to do the right thing. Dark Day? Absolutely, but because Mike Pence, when offered the opportunity to make history and be a patriot, he cowered in the board room in a cold sweat and wet pants.

Perhaps #36 could explain what is wrong w #8’s thinking?
And if #36 is closest to being right, if VP P had signed off on the final vote, but offered a “protest” or some qualifier, it might have helped my feelings. But if I recall, he looked much too pleased and happy with his starring role in that day’s drama.
In any case, no matter. He is dead to me.

#42...The Consitution is clear. It has been regurgitated here time and again. Art 1 Sec 4: "The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof..." The LEGISLATURE of each state is responsible for Presidential elections.
Art 2, Sec 1: "Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors..." Again, it's the LEGISLATURE with the sole authority to act on the state's appointment of electors. Not the Governor, not the courts (state orf Federal)...the LEGISLATURE.
Art 2, Sec 1: "The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed..." This is pretty simple on its face.
3USC15: "...the President of the Senate shall call for objections, if any. Every objection shall be made in writing, and shall state clearly and concisely, and without argument, the ground thereof, and shall be signed by at least one Senator and one Member of the House of Representatives before the same shall be received." Two objections were made in '21 and rejected. Leadership (McConnell & McCarthy) shut down any others. The GOPe walked away - you figure out why.
So, where is this incorrect? Where does Pence draw any power to reject votes ACCEPTED by the House and Senate? I'd be interested to know from where that supposed authority derives. #42, can you show us? #8?

One line from the Constitution stands out: "the Votes shall then be counted." This was written by honest men assuming that future voters would be holding an honest election, no duplicate votes, no votes from the grave, no digital votes created by Dominion machines. Yes, we understand that, but you can't advance beyond that step if the votes can not be counted accurately. One voter should equal one vote. That is where the six states in question should have been ordered to hold their elections again and prove that all votes were legitimate. That process should have begun the day after the election.

To a certain extent, Pence is correct. However, Pence did have the authority to send back to those states the electoral votes that were not certified by that state's legislature. In almost every key state in question in the election of 2020, the electoral votes were certified by either the governor, or the courts of that state. Neither the governor nor the court system has the authority to do this. By doing that, it was an unconstitutional maneuver in violation not only of the state's Constitution, but also the Constitution of the U.S.

Good reason to believe that "election" was the death knell of our republic. Neither Pence nor the Supine Joke wanted to risk any civil unrest. We suffer as a result.

All you folks who keep touting the role of state legislatures are ignoring the facts on the public record that changes to the ways, times and manners for balloting were changed by Attorneys General, Secretaries of State, State Courts, and local officials in the states of Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania without reference to the state legislatures. Therefore those changes were void and Electors chosen under those changes were not, in fact, Electors. "An improperly chosen Elector is no Elector."---James Madison.
So Pence did have the authority to fulfill his oath to ". . . preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. . ." by disallowing those slates of Electors chosen under non-Constitutional means.
