Must Allow At-Home Testing

After weeks of being holed up inside, hundreds of millions of Americans eagerly await guidance from their governors and the Trump administration on when they can return to work. Unfortunately, a vaccine appears too far off to serve as a prerequisite for reopening the economy. This has prompted officials to call for extensive national testing efforts to identify individuals free of coronavirus. But these efforts require Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of rapid at-home testing, and the agency appears to be dragging its feet. Now more than ever, Americans need a responsive FDA that puts patients’ lives over half-measures and unnecessary risk aversion.

The only thing the government MUST do is restore our constitutional freedoms and let us run our own lives.

Let the chips fall where they may. We’ve gotten this far without lockdowns and mass testing. This is not an existential threat for mankind.

What a stupid article. We don't HAVE to have anything to reopen. Just do it!

Just open up the country. We've been instructed 24/7 on how to handle things. Anyone who doesn't know about wearing a Mask or Social Distancing must be living under a Rock! Just do it!!

The Food and Drug Administration is an Industry Trade Group funded by your tax dollars. It is staffed by Industry Representatives (past and future) who are looking out for the interests of Big Pharma and Big Food Producers. There are very few small farms left.
They are not about to let this opportunity pass without making money on it! If you think drug companies have your best interest at heart, why all the disclaimers in their advertising? And where do they do their advertising? Do they influence the MSM to tell their story in a favorable light?

Once again we wait for the blessing of some overinflated government agency that is too inept to keep up with reality.

I think it is a great idea! I mean, if there is a home test to find out if you are pregnant or not, why could there not be a home test to find out if you have this virus or not? Strictly voluntary of course, and then you will not have to wait four days - i read that testing for this virus can take that long - and with the fear removed, you are more in control of your own health and your family's health.
Of course, like a pregnancy test, I would assume you do not have to register with anyone to take test nor have to report the results to anyone. Did it take long for the FDA to approve the home test for pregnancy? I guess now individual companies manufacture the product. Does not seem that complicated. Just normal American entrepreneurship. Both tests are about life and are equally important to individuals.

#10, I could test negative today and pick up the virus tomorrow. You want to know how bad it is? I am laid off for 2 weeks. Not complaining, would like to treat it as a vacation. But I can't. We cannot visit our elderly parents and other siblings in PA because our daughter, who lives with us, works at the local hospital. She is required to go on a 2-week, unpaid quarantine if any household members or herself cross state lines. Yay.

Testing not needed except for sick people or as an "after action review" sort of thing to figure out exactly how many folks actually got it, actual death rate, etc.

This may just be my liberty growling in the pit of my stomach, but it is no longer feasible for me to wait upon the POTUS or the Governor to tell me when I may stand down from self-imposed quarantine. It could be that I just figure out an artful compliance statement that will get me past the ''check-point charlies'' that stand on tiny feet to stop me.

I told my son last week that when those stimulus checks come out, the country will naturally open itself. We had to go a few places today and yep, it's a lot more open, lots more cars, restaurants starting back up and you should see the lines of cars at drive through bank lines.
