Former President Barack Obama recently gave America another reminder of how his presidency—once expected to bring the country together—left us more divided on race.
Obama compared America under President Donald Trump to the tumultuous period after the Civil War that gave birth to the Ku Klux Klan. He said the U.S. is “having the same arguments” we did in the 1860s and 1870s, when Union troops occupied the former Confederacy and attempted to secure real freedom for former slaves.
“These issues are still here,” Obama told author Malcolm Gladwell in an interview for the podcast “Reconstruction: The Unfinished Promise.”

Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Masino, who spearheaded a failed “woke” rebrand last year, will step down from her position on Aug. 10, according to a Monday press release.
Masino, who served three years with the company, sparked a storm of backlash with her attempts to modernize Cracker Barrel’s branding in 2025. The company’s stock plummeted after the change, with shares losing more than half their value, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Alan Ritchson, the far-left Reacher star who used the promotion tour for Motor City to falsely accuse President Donald Trump of raping 13-year-olds, faced humiliating rejection over the weekend when his movie collapsed at the box office. Although released in 1,600 theaters, Motor City grossed a pathetic $1.6 million in its debut. Its per-screen average was a laughable $1,015, placing it 18th in the per-screen-average derby.
Here’s the best news: Motor City’s production budget alone was $30 million.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill unloaded on her predecessor this week in announcing that Garden State election officials found some 6,600 noncitizens on their voter rolls — about 400 of whom voted in elections.
Democrat Sherrill — a leftist identifying as a moderate — threw under the bus former Gov. Phil Murphy, also a Democrat, for “reckless failures” and an absence of transparency. This failure didn’t occur under my watch, but accountability starts now,” the new governor said in a statement. “I am taking action to prevent anything like it from occurring in the future and make sure those responsible are held accountable.”
But the same old transparency problems

James Talarico, the radical Democrat nominee for the U.S. Senate race in Texas, once credited Islamic teachings and authors as an inspiration for his Christian faith. “I’ve learned as much about my faith from Salman’s tradition, from the Islamic mystics, from poets like Rumi, as much as I have from Christian authors,” Talarico said in the unearthed video.
Talarico has repeatedly made heretical and anti-Christian statements throughout his tenure in politics. He once claimed that he “always thinks of [himself] as a Christian who hates Christianity” and has made relativistic statements about all religions being “equal pathways to truth.”

Just a few weeks before the first day of class, Howard University retracted the admission of 502 incoming freshmen, whom it says failed to pay tuition on time. Now, New York is opening up its public university system to affected students and offering $800 credits to offset non-refundable deposit costs.
The would-be incoming Howard students were notified July 22 by the school of their dis-enrollment, and many took to social media afterward to lament the situation.
Several attributed their delayed tuition payments to waiting for private scholarships and other financial aid promises from Howard, a private school and one the country's Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The French have done it again. The nation that gave the world the baguette, camembert cheese, and snooty accents crossed a big red line on social media after a U.N. Security Council meeting on Friday. The U.S. envoy, Dan Negrea, a senior delegation official and alternate representative at the General Assembly, slammed France’s “disingenuous grandstanding” and walked out during a Monday meeting
What drew the ire of the seasoned diplomat? France compared the United States to… North Korea.
No, seriously. Negrea took the French to task over their dishonest smear of the United States.

Two Florida death row inmates are scheduled to be executed hours apart on Tuesday, which would mark the first time in more than six decades the state puts to death multiple people within a single day, as state officials continue to ramp up executions.
“I’m not shocked anymore by the number of death warrants that are being signed, but it struck me as a kind of rupture to the system that we would execute two people within six hours from one another,” said Father Dustin Feddon, a Catholic priest who has been visiting prisoners on Florida’s death row for more than a decade.
Feddon currently ministers to James Duckett, who is scheduled

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in an appearance on "The Ingraham Angle" Monday, claimed Dr. Anthony Fauci received the COVID vaccine in a very public ceremony, then roughly five months later, suffered a "pulmonary infarction."
According to RFK, Fauci never told anyone about it. It's one of many alleged lies laid out by the prominent Kennedy family member.
"He lied about masks. He lied about the social distancing. He lied about the transmission, and he lied about natural immunity," he told Fox News personality Laura Ingraham. "He lied about the capacity, as you just said, of the vaccine to prevent infection."

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has doubled down on his “Eat the rich” campaign by publishing a list of hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers guilty of . . . owning an apartment.
The city Department of Finance released an “enemies list” of property owners who might be covered by the new non-resident “pied-a-terre” tax — a kind of one-stop class-warfare shopping list for antifa radicals looking for targets.
Mind you, publicizing the list serves no good purpose: The city is mailing all these owners asking them to clarify if they don’t qualify for the new tax, so this publicity isn’t about informing them, it’s about scaring them.
