Meet Britain’s New Cabinet of Fakers,
Fraudsters and Hangers-On

Britons are struggling to characterize their new Cabinet, following the arrival of a new prime minister on Monday. The Cabinet is not as northern or female as Andy Burnham signaled. Most members have certainly changed. Most are not loyalists to Keir Starmer, even less so to Tony Blair. Like Burnham, many hark back to a mythical golden age of socialism in the 1970s. Like him, most are alarmingly deficient in popular mandate, external qualifications, and even political trust for their new responsibilities. Let’s start with Burnham himself, a man born in Liverpool who pretended to be Mancunian to win the mayoralty of Manchester.

Reminder: “WE ARE A SALON AND NOT A SALOON”

Your thoughts, comments, and ideas are always welcome here. But we ask you to please be mindful and respectful. Threatening or crude language doesn't persuade anybody and makes the conversation less enjoyable for fellow L.Dotters.

Today's reminder that, as 'screwed up' as we are here in the USA, it's worse pretty much everywhere else.

List all the socialists that have built, or created anything. Nobody. That's correct. Marx sponged off a rich guy, and everything he wrote is dull and devoid of life.

Where is the King???? Where is the soon-to-be-King????? They can't be oblivious, but are they willfully blind? Are they paralyzed with fear of facing this down and protecting the country and civilization? Or is their silence the price they foolishly pay for a promise of "protection"? They reek of weakness.

Where is the King? The King is in his counting house, counting all his money. The Queen is in the parlor eating bread and honey.

Another person has been sentenced to prison related to the $250 million Feeding Our Future fraud scheme. Abdiaziz Shafii Farah, 37, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment for attempting to bribe a federal juror during his 2024 fraud trial. He was sentenced before U.S. District Judge Eric C. Abdiaziz Farah was previously sentenced on August 6, 2025, for his role in exploiting a federally funded child nutrition program. “Tampering with a juror is an assault on the integrity of the courts and the foundation of our democracy,” said United States Attorney Daniel N. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has opened civil rights investigations into housing programs at two public universities after complaints alleged the schools promote or operate residential communities based on race, the agency announced. HUD's Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity is investigating the University of Connecticut and the University of Minnesota to determine whether their campus housing programs violate the Fair Housing Act by steering or advertising housing opportunities based on race or ethnicity. The investigations stem from complaints filed by the Equal Protection Project, which argues that the universities' themed residential communities unlawfully classify students by race even if participation is technically open to all students.

The U.S. has widened its military campaign against Iran, shifting from attacks on coastal military targets to strikes farther inland that have damaged key infrastructure, including bridges, transportation routes and utility facilities. The expanded operation comes after a short-lived ceasefire collapsed, reigniting fighting over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping lanes, the Associated Press reported. Since hostilities started again, U.S. forces have moved beyond targeting naval capabilities and missile sites along Iran’s southern coast to striking military and infrastructure targets deeper inside the country.

Speaker Mike Johnson pulled off another unlikely feat getting a divided Republican conference to pass a bill providing Iran war funding and supporting state voter ID requirements. This time, he had a hand from Vice President JD Vance, who worked the phones behind the scenes to get skeptical conservative members on board, sources familiar with the matter tell the Daily Signal. Overcoming numerous divisions within the conference, House Republicans on Wednesday successfully passed a framework for reconciliation 3.0, which included $95 billion in spending for the Iran war and parts of the SAVE America Act.

Many in Atlanta also celebrate its popularity because it's a successful black-owned business, co-owned by Tamara Young and Chef Virgil Harper. And that's fine; it's a free country, and people are welcome to celebrate what they want and what matters to them. Personally, when I go out to eat, I really only care about things like flavor and service, not the race of the owners. I grew up with parents who never considered someone's skin color a defining factor in who they are or what they're capable of achieving, and I've always followed their lead.

watchdog group is calling on Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) William Pulte to review the security clearances of certain members of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team following allegations they mishandled classified information. The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) has sent a letter to the DNI asserting allegations against members of Smith’s team and requesting an investigation to revoke security clearances if needed. “As recent documents from Senator Grassley’s office have shown, several members of former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office were extremely careless when handling classified documents and with the security of designated classified areas,” CASA Director James Fitzpatrick said in a statement.

California rejected nearly 150,000 mail-in ballots during its June primary, the highest total in recent election cycles, as a surge in late-postmarked ballots sparked concerns about changes to U.S. Postal Service processing. According to data from the California secretary of State’s office, 148,241 mail ballots — or 1.73 percent of all mailed ballots cast — were rejected in the state’s June primary, up from roughly 109,000 rejected ballots in the 2024 primary and up from about 106,000 in the 2022 primary. More than 93,000 ballots were disqualified because they were deemed late, making timeliness the most common reason the ballots were rejected.

The Gateway Pundit reported on Evan Barker, a former Obama intern and lifelong Democrat, who left the party after what she saw as a volunteer at the Democratic National Convention. In 2024, in an op-ed for Newsweek, she expanded on why she became so “disenchanted” with Democrat leadership despite raising “tens of millions of dollars” for them and why she left the party. Next week, Baker’s memoir, “Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative,” is set to drop. The Wall Street Journal’s Barton Swaim previewed the book noting:

President Donald Trump has a winning strategy on Iran. The military campaign should not stop until Iran's regime delivers an unconditional surrender, as Germany and Japan did in World War II. House Speaker Mike Johnson should be cautious about telling Trump to "wrap it up." The US strikes on Iran have been as breathtaking as they were overdue – and massively complex. What would the world look like today if in 1942 the US and its allies had been told to "wrap it up"? Trump should not listen to anyone who tells him to slow down or ease up. A Biden-appointed majority on the First Circuit Court of Appeals handed President Donald Trump a major setback Saturday, refusing to lift an injunction blocking key election-integrity provisions of his executive order in 23 states and the District of Columbia. The three-judge panel denied emergency stay requests filed by the Trump administration and 12 Republican-led states, leaving in place a lower-court order that prevents the Department of Homeland Security from distributing federal citizenship lists and blocks the U.S. Postal Service from applying new mail-ballot requirements in the plaintiff states for elections held on or before November 3, 2026.

Twenty-five states, with the help of a Department of Homeland Security database, have identified hundreds of thousands of dead people and noncitizens registered to vote, and they haven’t finished counting yet. So far, just 10 states—including key battlegrounds Georgia and North Carolina—have fully processed the voter data through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, database. SAVE is primarily used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to verify eligibility for government benefits. The Trump administration made it available to states to cross-reference voter registration data.

CHICAGO — Seven Save A Lot stores across Chicago closed their doors Saturday, leaving residents with one less grocery store in areas where options are already limited. For South Side resident John Kali Mwindaja, the closures were no surprise. “It’s the same old story, to be honest with you. It is not just here. Nationally, when it comes down to Black communities,” he said. The closures come four years after the City of Chicago announced it would give $13.5 million in taxpayer financing to Yellow Banana as part of a roughly $26 million deal to buy and renovate six stores

California’s Medi-Cal crisis has left taxpayers paying for fraud, waste, and abuse. The Pacific Research Institute released a study this week breaking down how taxpayers are paying for “a program that has grown beyond the state’s ability to effectively manage it.” The findings come as the Trump administration announced on July 21 that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is pausing over $860 million in funding to California after federal officials discovered in-home supportive services claims that significantly exceeded national trends. Sally Pipes, the institute’s president, told the Daily Signal that rooting out fraud should be lawmakers’ top priority. “If lawmakers could make only one thing happen this year,

The post began with a familiar formula: “Although we don’t yet have all the details about the motives behind last night’s shooting…” And yet—almost instantly—the moral framing is already in place. It’s a bit like a disciplined defense in football—the Left defends every blade of grass. Nothing is conceded. No ground is given—not even in the first moments, when facts are still emerging. Every inch of interpretation is contested immediately.
