CBS defends Colbert cancellation by revealing
revenue loss

CBS unexpectedly defended its decision to pull "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" off air, revealing in a statement Thursday that the show was losing approximately $40 million a year. (snip) the program was merely being replaced with two back-to-back episodes of Byron Allen’s “Comics Unleashed” instead. Allen's program is a "time buy," meaning that Allen is paying CBS $15 million to rent the air time, but will keep all ad revenue for himself. (snip) “With this ‘time buy’ model, we have shifted an hour that was losing roughly $40 million annually to $15 million in profit — a $55 million swing.”

Running "Midnight Sermonette," the national anthem and a test pattern would be more profitable to CBS than Colbert's show. My question is why they kept him on the air for almost a year after they decided to cut their losses. Even paying Colbert his $15 million to sit at home and twiddle his thumbs would have been less expensive than running that loss leader every night. And I suspect that if you pull open the books at ABC, you'll find the same with Kimmel's daily diatribe.

Losing 440 million a year on Cole-bert. Will make $15 million on this "Comic" show. Heck, it might even be FUNNY.....something Cole-bert never was.

So let me take a wild guess. SeeBS went from Colbert tossing SeeBS shareholders forty million bucks a year to this Sllen guy paying them fifteen million a year. A 55 million dollar positive revenue change to shareholders' value. And the leftist have been crying it's all Trump's fault. I bet none of the howling jackals on the left hold one share of SeeBS stock.

A federal judge on Thursday cleared the way for President Donald Trump to implement his executive order tightening mail-in voting, slapping down Democrats’ arguments for now that federal efforts to police voter rolls with citizenship checks was illegal. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointed jurist, ruled that Democrats failed to show they have standing at present to challenge the order or have suffered any harm that would warrant a preliminary injunction.

The Justice Department is reportedly investigating whether E. Jean Carroll, an 82-year-old former magazine writer who accused President Donald Trump of sexual assault, committed perjury in civil lawsuits against the president. Carroll accused Trump in a civil case of sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store dressing room in 1996 and later defaming her by dismissing her claims as a “hoax.”

Marco Polo’s Garrett Ziegler has identified the “sitting” federal district court judge found to have committed judicial misconduct, perhaps most notably, for having sex in her chambers. Ziegler concisely reports the facts and identifies “the subject judge,” as the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Council Order gingerly puts it, or “the Subject Judge,” as the 20-page memorandum attached to the Order gingerly puts it. Ziegler has identified Judge Eleanor Ross of the Northern District of Georgia as the Subject Judge. More cautiously, Josh Blackman comes to the same conclusion via a longer and more detailed route here. Professor Blackman has sought a response from Judge Ross

A federal district judge has been disciplined for having extramarital sex with a law enforcement officer inside the judge's chambers during business hours, according to several news reports. A special committee for the Eleventh Circuit on Friday found the judge, who isn’t named, "demonstrated a gross lack of judgment." Clerks could overhear the intercourse taking place, which was "extremely uncomfortable and troubling" for them, according to Bloomberg Law. The affair exposed the judge to risks of extortion since his or her spouse wasn't aware of the affair.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist from Vermont, has spent nearly $608,000 on private jets, chauffeured cars, and upscale hotels since last year through his campaign fund, an investigation by The Center Square found. Sanders is barnstorming the country on his "Fighting Oligarchy" tour, a series of rallies aimed at opposing President Trump and supporting economic populism. To defray its cost, he is raising and spending money through his principal campaign committee, Friends of Bernie Sanders. Even as Sanders rails against billionaires' political clout and economic inequality, his committee has relied on elite trappings more commonly associated with the wealthy.

The June 2024 presidential debate between then-President Joe Biden (D) and then-GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump was inarguably one of the most consequential events in American political history, largely because it proved to the American people beyond a shadow of a doubt that the occupant of the Oval Office was unwell. As we all know, it led to Biden withdrawing from the presidential race three weeks later after essentially being forced out by his fellow Democrats. It was a reckoning of sorts for the Democrat Party, the Biden-Harris administration, and the mainstream media, all of whom played starring roles in the deliberate years-long cover-up of Biden's decline,

The Communist Twelver Shi’ite mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, made a major announcement on Tuesday: he is beginning to implement the Marxist seizure of property in New York City. He did not, of course, state that in so many words. As Marxists always do, he couched his plans in the language of social justice, claiming that he was striking out against bad landlords and providing an opportunity for all New Yorkers to live in decent, fairly-priced housing. And as is always the case with Marxist promises, Mamdani’s big announcement was an obvious and flagrant lie to cover up for his seizure of private property, not so much

Spoiler alert: Naaah. But it's certainly fun to fantasize. Yes, John Cornyn may have been a slightly safer bet than Ken Paxton in a general election. Given the relative difference between how the two would have voted over the next six years, the gain from nominating Paxton probably doesn't justify the assumed risk of dethroning the incumbent Cornyn. It might take more money to fight for the seat in the general election, but that assumes that Democrats would have left Texas alone had Cornyn eked out a win over Paxton. In the end, though, Texas is Texas,

A host of deep blue states are quietly pulling back from their generous programs of “free” healthcare to migrants as federal dollars dry up and their budgets continue to spiral into the red. With the Trump administration beginning to close the spigot of billions in federal aid that many states lavishly spent caring for illegal migrants, sates including California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon Washington, and the District of Columbia are finding that they cannot afford to replace the chocked off federal dollars with their own state budget dollars. This reality setting in has caused state officials to begin scaling back their freebies —

There’s a growing scandal in Georgia. Seems a woman federal court judge has been reprimanded for having sex in the courtroom chambers with a male police officer. One of the judge’s discomfited clerks reported the matter, and the appellate court conducted an investigation. Democrats are shaking their heads in disbelief at the timing of Jill Biden’s memoir and her change in tone about Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance. The party would rather talk about the high cost of living and increased gas prices under President Trump, Democrats told The Post, rather than relive the debate around Joe Biden’s cognitive health. “We need this as much as we need a hole in the head,” Jim Manley, a Democratic strategist who worked in the Senate for years, said. Jill Biden’s confessional about her concerns over the former president’s health is dropping as the party fights to win control of Congress in November.
