One of the areas where Sharia law appears to be making inroads into American society is through the U.S. financial system.
Under Sharia, or Islamic, law, charging interest (“riba”) on loans or earning interest on deposits is forbidden for even observant Muslims living in America, a strange anachronism in a country where interest- and credit-based finance is a cornerstone of the economy.
According to Sharia-compliant fatwas, or rulings, recently issued by the Fiqh Council of North America, Muslims are prohibited even from investing in the stocks of any companies whose interest-based debt exceeds 30% of their market capitalization, or whose interest-based deposits exceed 30% of the market cap of their total equity.

Non-whites are set to become the majority for the first time in the US by 2050, a situation mirrored in up to 16 states — including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, according to new census data.
The expected transformation reflects astonishing demographic changes projected to sweep across America by between 2040 and 2050, fueled by international and internal migration, as well as falling birthrates, the US Census Bureau figures show.
In 1980, the US was 80% white, but that figure is expected to drop to 47% by 2050 and 44% by 2060. At the state level, some of the shifts are even more striking.

For years, Democrats and their allies in the media swore Joe Biden was sharp as a tack, fully capable, and absolutely fine. Then came the June 2024 debate, and that story collapsed in real time before millions of viewers. The fallout was so bad that Biden's own party forced him off the ticket. He dropped out, spent the rest of his term below the radar, and has spent his post-presidency trying to rehabilitate his image. Now, that effort has taken a new and telling turn. Biden filed a lawsuit Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking to block the Justice Department from releasing roughly

As we reported. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton won the Republican primary for the Senate seat against Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX).
Cornyn has held the seat for 23 years. President Donald Trump endorsed Paxton, and in the end, Paxton prevailed, winning by 27 percentage points. Unlike Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Cornyn's concession was classy. He said he would do what he could to support the Republican ticket and Paxton. Meanwhile, Paxton said he would support Trump's SAVE America Act, one of Trump's biggest priorities to ensure election security.
Trump praised Paxton and Cornyn. He also had a new nickname for Paxton's opponent, Democrat James Talarico. Once you see it,

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is reportedly battling thyroid cancer, has been appointed by President Donald Trump to serve on an advisory panel focused on Artificial Intelligence policy.
Trump dismissed Bondi as attorney general in April, and she will now return to the White House to serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), according to Axios. She received a thyroid cancer diagnosis shortly after she left the Department of Justice, the outlet reported, citing an anonymous source.
Bondi’s role was announced by billionaire David Sacks, co-chair of the PCAST.

Americans traveling in Africa who are diagnosed with or suspected of having Ebola will not be brought back to the U.S. for treatment, according to a new report.
The current plan responding to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo calls for a facility to be set up in Kenya where Americans could be put in quarantine, according to The Wall Street Journal. The report cited sources it did not name.
The outlet said the facility will target “Americans who are exposed to or at high risk of testing positive for the virus in the region, as well as Americans who test positive.” Members of the U.S. Public Health Service

The time for Gavin Newsom honoring himself isn’t over yet.
California’s governor wants taxpayers to spend $33,000 on an official portrait of him, even as Democratic lawmakers fume over Newsom’s “absurd” $20 million proposal to honor the state’s living former governors — an exclusive club of which he’ll soon be a member. Funding for the proposed painting is included in Newsom’s proposed 2026-27 budget under “Governor’s Portrait,” which says the money would pay for the “traditional painting of the Governor’s portrait” to be displayed in the State Capitol alongside portraits of every other California governor.
The $33,000 would come from the state’s General Fund at a time when

Democrats weighing 2028 presidential campaigns are seeking ties with Sen. Elizabeth Warren as she works to shape the party’s next White House primary, according to Axios.
Axios reported Monday that Warren, one of the most influential figures in the progressive movement, is being courted publicly and privately by Democrats eyeing 2028 presidential bids, a sign potential candidates are trying to strengthen their standing with the party’s far-left flank.
Warren lost her White House bid in 2020, but Axios noted she later played a major role in shaping President Joe Biden’s administration by helping place allies in his administration. Her moves have also drawn concern from some centrist Democrats, who worry she has

More than 860,000 fireworks are expected to be launched from the National Mall during next [this] year’s Fourth of July celebration for the US’ 250th birthday, an amount that would surpass the current world record for the largest fireworks display. The current record was set during a New Year’s Eve celebration in Manila in 2016, when roughly 809,000 fireworks were used during a show that lasted more than an hour. The planned DC celebration would far exceed the city’s traditional Fourth of July fireworks shows, which typically launch between 17,000 and 20,000 shells.
The celebration will be organized by Freedom 250, a public-private partnership launched last December.

After a veteran’s wife posted online asking for someone to take a picture of her husband's grave in Arlington National Cemetery, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was able to pay respects to the fallen soldier and get a photo for his widow. X user SharrellAnne posted to the platform on Sunday, "This is probably a long shot, but if anybody happens to be in DC this weekend and plans on visiting Arlington, I would love to see a fresh photo of my husband’s grave in Section 60." The fallen soldier's name was SSG Alan W. Shaw, who died in 2007. She then listed the details of her husband's grave.

Spc. Richard Leroy McKinley’s white marble headstone may look like the others in Arlington Cemetery, but his grave serves as a grim reminder of the first fatal nuclear accident in America.
McKinley’s grave is the only radioactive grave in the cemetery. He was laid to rest in a double lead-lined casket and lowered into a 10-foot concrete grave encased in a metal vault with an additional foot of concrete poured atop his casket. McKinley’s family had to watch the eight-minute veteran’s funeral from 20 feet away.
McKinley was born on December 2, 1933, in Union City, Indiana, but he grew up with his big family in Kenton, Ohio. McKinley enlisted in

Once again, the U.S. Senate is on vacation. This group barely works, and when they are in session, they accomplish practically nothing. Since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term, Congress has passed only one major piece of legislation. While the “One Big Beautiful Bill” was a notable accomplishment, it should not have been the only legislative victory for the Republican Congress. During the same period of President Joe Biden’s administration, a Democratic-led Congress passed four major pieces of legislation: the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, the CHIPS Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Of course, these bills harmed our economy, propelled wasteful spending, and funded ludicrous
