Less than 24 hours after a gunman tried to breach the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the Department of Justice sent a blunt message to the lawyers blocking construction of the president’s proposed White House ballroom: drop the lawsuit, or the government will move to end it for you.
The letter, dated April 26, was signed by Brett Shumate, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division, and addressed to Greg Craig of Foley Hoag LLP, outside counsel for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Craig served as White House Counsel under Barack Obama and as Clinton’s personal defense lawyer during the 1990s impeachment proceedings.

The law enforcement reaction to the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting is getting a lot of scrutiny.
One of the questions many seemed to have was: why was Vice President JD Vance rushed out of the room before President Donald Trump was? You can see that here, in a post from Fox's Jacqui Heinrich. [Tweet, video]
Here's what White House correspondent for Diario ABC, David Alandete, said about the events. [Tweet, video]
I was right there. I saw everything.
The reason JD Vance left earlier through a different door from Trump's is that he was alone.

It happened again: a deranged leftist, Cole Allen, fueled by hate, came too close to assassinating President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday night.
Allen, who lives in Torrance, California, is a 31-year-old teacher and video game developer. He charged at the security checkpoint, right outside the ballroom. Before being tackled, Allen fired shots, hitting one Secret Service agent, who will make a full recovery because he was wearing a bulletproof vest.
Ironically, the dinner was held at the Washington Hilton, where President Ronald Reagan was seriously wounded by John Hinckley, Jr. on March 30, 1981.
Allen is believed to have traveled to Washington, D.C. by train

There's a brewery in Wisconsin openly celebrating Saturday night’s assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
That's not hyperbole. That's exactly what happened.
Minocqua Brewing Company, a self-described "progressive" brewery and SuperPAC operation out of Wisconsin, has been running what it calls "Free Beer Day" — a standing promise of free drinks at its taprooms the day Donald Trump dies.
The New York Post profiled the brewery earlier this year:
The company’s owner, Kirk Bangstad, is the founder of the Minocqua Brewing Company SuperPAC, which “aims to remove Republican federal and state elected officials who perpetuated the election lies that caused the Insurrection of January 6, 2021,

We’ve been reporting on Saturday night’s chaos at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where shots were fired, and President Trump and the First Lady had to be whisked off to safety by Service Agents. In the aftermath, there has been discussion about whether to proceed with the gala, with the president affirming that he wanted the show to go on.
Now, however, according to the president, that’s not going to happen. He posted to social media minutes ago:
His full message at 9:36 pm ET:
Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately.

According to on-air reports, which were covering other topics when it occurred, shots have been fired at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Video of C-Span's coverage shows people ducking below their tables while the head table, where President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were sitting, evacuated. The anchor can be heard breaking in to point out the developing situation. [Tweet, video]
The situation is fluid, and this post will be updated as more information becomes known.
UPDATE:
It is now being reported that the Secret Service has killed the shooter. It's not clear whether the assailant ever got a shot off.

Said Jama Ahmed might not be walking the plank, but the Somali pirate definitely needs to be shipped out of our country.
Ahmed, in fact, has a history with the U.S. military and federal immigration enforcement, as the Navy caught him committing piracy in the Gulf of Aden back in 2012, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) later caught him here in 2024 after he illegally entered our country. It appears authorities removed him, but he returned to try to enter America from the north instead of the south. Apparently, piracy wasn't the lucrative profession he thought it would be, so he decided to sneak into our country

It's been a while since I've dunked on Meghan Markle, our American Duchess of Nothing, and her hubby, Harry. I've been trying to be good, but these two are on a four-day trip to Australia, which is being described as a "rent-a-royal" tour by royal insiders, and they're making absolute fools of themselves, as they do.
Host Kinsey Schofield told Fox News Digital, "The palace is unhappy about these rent-a-royal tours because it blatantly disregards the late queen’s very specific instruction that there can be no half-in, half-out for the Sussexes."
"All they are doing in Australia is monetizing their titles and clinging to royal relevance,

This coming June in Pennsylvania, any county that agrees to support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations will lose its current liability insurance coverage should litigation follow ICE activity.
More to the point, the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool (PCoRP), which is the insurance carrier that provides coverage through the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP), approved the change that will now exclude insurance coverage for what are known as 287(g) agreements. This is the program where local police departments work with and support federal law enforcers, including ICE.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “The change would not apply to county agreements with the federal government

It’s no secret that radical Islam is an insidious ideology that threatens the Judeo-Christian societal order. Not only are we dealing with an Islamist foe in Iran, but we can also see what is happening in places like the UK and other parts of Europe, where Muslims are running roughshod over society.
The Islamists have their sights set on the U.S. as well. Witness Minnesota and Michigan, where pockets of Muslims are transforming their neighborhoods and cities. About a year and a half ago, I drove to Milledgeville, Ga., near the center of the state, for a concert. On one of the sidewalks in this quiet, quintessentially Southern college town,
