Texas lawmakers propose incorporating the Bible into public school reading lists, drawing support from those who say it is essential to understanding American history and criticism from opponents who raise constitutional concerns. The Texas State Board of Education met this month to discuss potential changes to how social studies is taught under the state’s Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for K-12 social studies curriculum. The Texas Education Agency has also published a recommended reading list of literary works developed with input from more than 5,000 Texas English teachers, according to a previous report by The Center Square.

There are no constitutional concerns. There’s no such thing as a separation of church and state in the constitution. It’s made up nonsense. Just like birthright citizenship.

Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Thursday opened a congressional probe into eight tech giants over allegations the companies failed to sufficiently report online child sexual exploitation, hampering law enforcement investigations. The senator, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, also released new information provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) detailing the alleged reporting deficiencies in tips submitted by eight technology companies. These eight companies, Meta, Amazon AI Services, TikTok, Snapchat, Discord, X.AI, Grindr and Roblox, collectively made up 81% of all suspected child exploitation reports received through NCMEC’s CyberTipline last year.

President Donald Trump slammed Iran Thursday night for doing a "very poor job," of letting oil pass through the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf. The United States and Iran reached a two-week ceasefire on Tuesday that was contingent on Iran reopening the Strait, which is a critical waterway where about 20% of the world's oil passed through before the conflict broke out in February. "Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz," Trump posted on Truth Social. "That is not the agreement we have!"

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s recent campaign event with streamer Hasan Piker has led to a firestorm of media coverage and brought the Democratic Party’s internal divide on continued support for Israel into full view. El-Sayed is currently locked in a contentious primary with Rep. Haley Stevens and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow. Polling data has consistently shown Stevens in the lead to win the party nod and face expected GOP nominee Mike Rogers in the contest to replace retiring Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich. Nevertheless, El-Sayed is hot on the heels of his opponents and his latest campaign event —

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday he was open to ceasefire talks with Lebanon a day after its bombing of the country reportedly killed the Hezbollah security chief Naim Qassem. Lebanon retaliated to the Israeli strikes by sending around 70 missiles over its border into northern Israel, though those strikes reportedly caused only minor damage. Israel’s continued clashes with Lebanon, its neighbor to the north, have endangered the U.S. peace talks with Iran. Now, Netanyahu said he is open to talks with Lebanese leaders, though he did not promise to halt attacks on Lebanon-based Hezbollah rebels during the talks. Hezbollah is an Iran-based insurgent group operating within Lebanon.

As President Trump tries to regain control of the crisis created by his war of choice in Iran, much of the rest of the world is in a struggle to secure energy resources. In Britain, pressure on the Government to drop its commitments against North Sea oil and gas production is intensifying. The debate no longer divides on Left-Right, Labour-Conservative lines, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves, unions and even a caucus of Labour MPs putting the spotlight on Ed Miliband, on whom the Prime Minister has said the decision rests. While we wait for a clear answer from the Government about how rising energy prices are going to be managed,

America is living through a moment difficult to describe without sounding a little unhinged. But here goes: We are watching the United States do things that only the United States can do. In the span of a few days, Americans have watched astronauts push farther into space than any human beings in history, while U.S. forces execute military operations so precise and technologically overwhelming that they look like something written for a Hollywood script. Pilots are being rescued in missions that resemble "Mission: Impossible." Terrorists are being eliminated with the kind of targeted strikes that only a modern superpower can carry out.

Twitch streamer and political gadfly Hasan Piker has a nose for publicity. More than a billion people have seen his Twitch stream that features some truly outrageous, hate-filled — even for a radical leftist — rants. He says that America "deserved" 9/11. The pro-Israel group StopAntisemitism nominated Piker as "Antisemite of the Year" in 2024 for remarks he made about Israel after the October 7 attack. Specifically, he excused Hamas's sexual violence against Israeli women, saying it “doesn’t change the dynamic” of the conflict. Following Operation Epic Fury, supply chain disruptions have ricocheted across the market and hiked gas costs for the average American – with Californians paying the prettiest penny at the pump. Though AAA data shows the average national cost of gas has jumped from $2.98 to $4.018 over the past month, Californians are shouldering more crushing gas costs. The Golden State has enacted stringent regulations on the oil and gas industry for decades, implementing the highest gas tax in the nation, moving to block fracking permits and attempting to phase out the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 before Congress and President Donald Trump stopped the effort.

Give Donald Trump credit for his ambition – he’s not only taking out America’s longstanding enemies, but he’s redefining the entire post-war world order. Several African and Caribbean countries – such as Nigeria and Jamaica – have made requests, raising the prospect that their nationals could be barred from entering the UK. A Biden-appointed federal judge blocked the Trump administration from ending temporary amnesty for thousands of Ethiopian nationals in the U.S. since 2022. In a ruling on Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy described the Trump administration’s “termination” of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) amnesty for Ethiopian nationals as “unsurprising in light” of President Donald Trump’s executive order, Reuters reported. Murphy also noted that “the will of the President does not supersede that of Congress.” “Fundamental to this case—and indeed to our constitutional system—is the principle that the will of the President does not supersede that of Congress,” Murphy said. “Presidential whims do not and cannot supplant agencies’ statutory obligations.”

Democratic New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has introduced a “racial equity plan” directing city resources to “black and brown New Yorkers” in an attempt to “confront institutional and systemic racism within our city.” The mayor’s policy proposal targets housing, health, and economic opportunities, and seeks to address disparities by prioritizing neighborhoods and residents that have supposedly been historically marginalized by economic or structural factors. Mamdani’s Preliminary Citywide Racial Equity Plan and True Cost of Living Measure prompted a warning from U.S. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who called the measure “fishy” and promised to take a closer look at its legality under current civil rights laws.

Mothers and fathers die. For the population to remain constant, the two of them need to produce about 2.1 children on average in order to replace themselves. (The extra 0.1 is necessary to offset the deaths of children who never reach reproductive age.) This figure is called the “fertility rate.” Recent data shows that the fertility rate in the United States is nowhere near that 2.1 figure. It has instead dropped to an all-time low of about 1.6. American woman on average give birth to only 1.6 children.

With smaller populations, these cities and states are going to lose significant electoral power in the present, but even more so in the future. Long term, this is a disaster for them and that is the source for much of their rage. The left tries to frame their anti-ICE protests as a humanitarian issue but it has nothing to do with that.

Hamas remains fully committed to jihad (holy war) and rejects disarmament. The "Board of Peace" is therefore confronting a harsh reality: Hamas, like Iran, is not motivated by deadlines, incentives, or promises of reconstruction. It is motivated by ideology and by war. In Hamas's worldview, the war is not about the Gaza Strip. It is about reshaping the Middle East -- and beyond -- in its own image. Any policy based on the assumption that Hamas can be persuaded to disarm is simply detached from reality. The danger is that this rhetoric is designed to inflame public opinion in Arab and Islamic countries against their own governments,

State legislators are advancing “American Laws for American Courts” (ALAC) and related measures. These laws attempt to keep the U.S. and state constitutions as the sole legal authorities. The message to Americans is clear: no foreign codes and no parallel tribunals. This effort addresses real risks in family law, contracts, child custody, arbitration, and other legal conflicts. These laws are not instance of intolerance or fearmongering; Sharia principles have clashed with constitutional rights in our nation, and these laws will help prevent such clashes in the future.

The world breathed a sigh of relief Tuesday night on news of a cease-fire in the Iran war, but this is certainly no time for President Donald Trump to go wobbly. If he can’t work out a comprehensive deal to end the Iran threat for good, he needs to get the jets back in the air over Iran pronto — and let the bombs drop. If not, he does risk that TACO label. Trump saw enough hope for a peace deal — and an “immediate” opening of the Strait of Hormuz — to hold off, for now, on the enormous additional devastation he threatened to inflict on the Iranian regime. Fine.
