During an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday, Breitbart News Deputy Political Editor Bradley Jaye asked why the State of the Union is “so important” and why so many people tune in to watch it. Bednar explained that “the electricity in the room is incredible.” First of all, it’s just — the electricity in the room is incredible. You have the president, you have the Cabinet, you have Members of Congress, and special guests. They really all tie the room together. And, it’s just an opportunity where, actually, Americans can come and celebrate, not just the policies, not just the wins, but actually, just come together …

On Sunday, we reported on the developing mess in Mexico: The resort town of Puerto Vallarta locked down, travel warnings, tourists "advised" to stay within the resorts, to shelter in place. There were rumors that the fighting was kicked off by the Mexican military's killing a notorious cartel goblin, Ruben "Nemesio" Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho," leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). That killing has now been confirmed. Now, over Sunday night, Mexico is plunged into warfare between the Mexican government and the cartels; the military is again involved, and there are indications that the cartels may have the government outgunned.

“Are you crazy?” hollers the second guy. “Lions can reach a top speed of 50 mph! You can’t outrun a lion!” “I don’t need to outrun the lion,” huffs the first guy. “I just gotta outrun you.” That’s the blessing and the curse of binary decision-making: Unless perfect is on the ballot, whoever the voters choose will have flaws. It’s a curse for good governance, because it means the process itself is inherently flawed. Its features and bugs are one and the same; it’ll always be an arduous, inefficient, slow-moving system. (Which, in all honesty, is often a positive.) But it’s a yuuuge blessing for candidates, because having flaws and character defects isn’t fatal.

While much of the transgender debate has surrounded restricting so-called gender affirming care to minors, most acknowledge that legal adults can make the decisions to undergo hormone treatments and consent to such surgeries. However, with the federal government and certain states restricting taxpayer dollars from funding youth transgender surgeries, hospitals that offered this service are closing their doors in order to protect their Medicare and Medicaid funding. This has also produced a chilling effect on the less lucrative adult-end of transgender surgeries. Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Tennessee's sole provider of adult transition surgeries, has decided to discontinue the practice, "citing operational limitations."

A few days ago, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) gave America some very welcome news. During a press conference he said that his Democratic members had two choices with regard to President Trump‘s upcoming State of the Union address: “The two options that are in front of us, in our house, is either attend with silent defiance, or to not attend.” This will definitely be a win-win for everyone who tunes in Tuesday evening to hear what the President has to say about his first-year accomplishments and future plans for the country.
