Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has made a move to secure the deliberations, private discussions, and working drafts of the court. According to the New York Times, Roberts is requiring all clerks and permanent staff to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
The writer writes about this in a hushed tone, as though she is laying out the plot of a murder mystery. But there is nothing mysterious about the erosion of the court's integrity, which points directly to publications like the NYT and POLITICO happily disseminating what is leaked to them.

In yesterday afternoon’s Wall Street Journal Best of the Web column, James Freeman asks the question: “Who watches the ‘ICE watchers’?” The answer to Freeman’s question is Christina Buttons/City Journal. Another answer to the question is not the Star Tribune. That much I can tell you.
I’m afraid Freeman would include the Star Tribune publisher, editors, reporters, and columnists among “the incurious media” to which he refers at the top of his column. That does not do justice to the phenomenon.

Tennessee has roughly 186,000 illegal aliens. California has over 2.2 million.
We have absolutely no idea how many Californians are murdered, raped, assaulted, or victimized by illegal aliens, because Gov. Gavin Newsom refuses to track the data or share it with the federal government. It’s allowed Democrats to argue that illegal aliens are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans.
Only it’s probably not true.
Because, unlike California, Tennessee actually tracked its year-to-year illegal alien crime statistics. And what they discovered was shocking and appalling.
From the Chattanoogan.com:
21,648 total criminal charges [against illegal aliens] in 2025
2,183 violent offenses
41 homicides
1,592 assaults
145 sexual offenses
11 child rapes

The Trump administration is pulling 700 federal agents out of Minnesota, White House border czar Tom Homan announced Wednesday, just over a week after he arrived in the Twin Cities to overhaul an immigration enforcement operation that was facing massive public backlash.
An “unprecedented” number of counties have begun informing Immigration and Customs Enforcement when they have an immigration target in custody, allowing ICE agents to collect the individual in the safety of the jail rather than on the street, Homan said. That change, which Homan said was facilitated by Minnesota’s Democratic leaders, will allow ICE to reduce its footprint by nearly 20 percent “effective immediately.”

The Supreme Court on Wednesday cleared the way for California to use its new congressional map that adds up to five Democratic-leaning seats for the midterms, rejecting Republicans’ emergency bid to block it.
Supported by the Trump administration, the California GOP has challenged the map as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. They point to the mapmaker’s comments boasting about strengthened Latino voting power under the new design.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed into law a massive funding package to end the brief government shutdown that began Saturday. The bill passed the House earlier Tuesday on a vote of 217-214, after passing the Senate last week. The legislation will ensure full-year funding for the federal government through the end of September, with the lone exception of the Department of Homeland Security, which is put on a two-week leash as Democrats insist on changes after federal agents fatally shot two Americans in Minneapolis.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released new guidance on Tuesday cautioning physicians against performing gender-transition surgeries on minors, marking a significant breakthrough for critics of the procedures who have long called on major medical associations to be transparent about the harms associated with medicalizing gender dysphoric children.
The new ASPS guidance acknowledges that there is insufficient evidence to prove that irreversible gender-related surgical interventions have longterm benefits for adolescents and therefore recommends that surgeons delay

A U.S. fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone as it approached the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command. Earlier in the day, a Navy destroyer came to the assistance of a U.S.-flagged tanker that was harassed by multiple Iranian small boats as it transited the Strait of Hormuz.
The drone was shot down by a Navy F-35C fighter jet from the carrier as it "aggressively approached" the Lincoln with "unclear intent," Central Command said.

Police Chief Jim McDonnell made clear that the Los Angeles Police Department will not enforce California’s mask ban for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The ban, titled the “No Secret Police Act,” went into effect at the beginning of 2026.
ABC 7 quoted McDonnell saying, “The reality of one armed agency approaching another armed agency to create conflict over something that would be a misdemeanor at best, or an infraction, it doesn’t make any sense.”
Los Angeles Magazine noted that McDonnell made clear that while not enforcing the mask ban, the LAPD will continue its practice of not cooperating with ICE on immigration enforcement:

George Zinn, the elderly man who falsely claimed he shot Charlie Kirk in the immediate aftermath of the Turning Point USA founder’s assassination and distracted police from looking for the real killer, has been sentenced to prison for child sex crimes and obstruction of justice.
Zinn cried in court after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree felony charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and no contest to a third-degree felony charge of obstruction of justice, according to a report by the Hill.
Fourth District Court Judge Thomas Low reportedly sentenced the 71-year-old to two prison terms of up to 15 years for the child exploitation charges, and

There are reports this week that Cuba is now talking to the Trump administration about the future of the country. Despite those reports, Cuba seems to be publicly denying the talks are even happening. What's going on here? Here's President Trump yesterday saying "we're talking to the people from Cuba." There are reports today indicating Cuba has changed its tone toward the US compared to just a few days ago. Here's the Miami Herald:
The Cuban government has exchanged its fierce rhetoric and vows to resist President Donald Trump’s “threats” for a more conciliatory offer to renew cooperation on security matters and maintain a “respectful dialogue” amid increasing diplomatic

Rack 'em up before the Supreme Court cuts the legs out from under Donald Trump's tariff leverage. One has to wonder whether the justices may be waiting for a few more trade agreements to come in line before publishing their ruling on Trump's authority under the IEEPA. Or, perhaps, delaying it just in case Trump can use it to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump offered that as a potential outcome from a new trade agreement reached with India today. The agreement will limit reciprocal tariffs to 18% and commits India to invest $500 billion in the US. Most importantly, Trump claims that India
