From the George Floyd riots to anti-ICE insurrections, what is happening in Minnesota? Why are leftist hordes concentrating their efforts to attack and destroy ICE in this state, as opposed to California or New York? Minnesota has always been an odd, progressive political animal, even a little bit loony (the Common Loon is the state bird, by the way). Leftist politics has been at home there longer than most realize. At the outset, Minnesota welcomed a large swath of Scandinavian and German immigrants, and they brought socialist ideas with them. In fact, most of those settlers were radicals seeking to live out their views, having faced persecution in their home countries.

What's interesting is that next-door Wisconsin was once flakey left wing too (voting for a Socialist presidential candidate in the 1920s) but has moderated since then. Trump won WI in both 2016 and 2024. But MN remains stuck on the left, with the assistance of 100,000 new residents from the scorching deserts of Africa.

In the ‘70’s, we had a couple as friends where the wife hailed from Minnesota. At the table, she asserted her loyalty to the Democrat party without giving any reason why. The way she said it, it was her birthright. Her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents were solid Dems. She was going to maintain the honor of staying with her parents’ politics. That’s all. Fast-forward 50 years. She’s now a Republican, thanks to her staunchly conservative husband, my friend.

The news that JD Vance is having a fourth child, this time while vice president, is not only joyous for his family but a wonderful example of potency for the rest of America. We just hit a new low of 1.61 kids per woman, and the replacement rate is 2.1 kids per woman. That’s bad – the only reason our population is growing is because of the influx of aliens. But the good news is that patriotic, normal Americans like the Vances know how to reproduce, and the consensus on the right is growing that we need to get collectively biz-zay, if you know what I’m saying.

Conservative: Beijing Wins in TikTok Deal The new TikTok deal allows China’s ByteDance to keep 19.9% of the company, gripes National Review’s Jim Geraghty, a “complete violation of the law” that aimed to force a total sale. This is “selling out American national security interests,” since it still lets Beijing use the app “to spread anti-American propaganda and suppress criticism of the regime in Beijing.” Any “deal that merely has the U.S. ‘license’ the algorithm doesn’t address the heart of the problem,” as “licensing is not ownership and monitoring is not control.” This deal “may sound like a compromise, but it is in fact a capitulation.”

In case you missed it this week, the Wall Street Journal came out with an "exclusive," stating that the Donald Trump administration's goal is regime change in Cuba by the end of the year. It claims that, "emboldened" by the capture of Nicolás Maduro, the administration is looking for people within the current Cuban "government" who might be willing to turn on the Commies and negotiate or facilitate a deal that would lead to a transition in power. In other words, those who see the writing on the wall — that without Maduro's regime sending them oil, Cuba is a failed state.

This week, the New York Times published an article called "Americans Are Turning Against Gay People," and if you're wondering whether the paper has completely lost touch with reality, the answer is yes. The piece opens with some gushing about a show I’ve never even heard of — and I suspect you haven’t, either — called Heated Rivalry, featuring gay hockey players, suggesting that its success proves "acceptance of queer love continues to grow." The authors, Tessa Charlesworth and Eli Finkel, lament that this is not the case. "We wish we could share that optimism,"

Accountability is coming” to Minnesota, Attorney General Pam Bondi declared as Democrats try to shift public attention away from large-scale government fraud and towards the chaos they have created in Minneapolis. The promise comes after an ICE officer shot a person dead during a Saturday street scuffle while Democrat-allied activists were trying to disrupt a federal law enforcement action. The shooting prompted Democrats to escalate their claims of murder by ICE and their demands that ICE leave the city amid the expanding federal investigation into what many Republicans say is statewide, migrant-enabled, Democratic-backed taxpayer fraud.

One hard-and-fast rule that leftists obey is this: Always accuse political opponents of committing the same transgressions that you are preparing to commit. Accusing innocent people of doing terrible things is dirty politics, but it muddies the waters of public perception just enough to protect the guilty from accountability. When Democrats commit electoral fraud, they accuse Republicans of trying to steal elections. When leftist revolutionaries burn down cities, ambush and murder law enforcement officers, and demand that state and local governments “defund police,” Democrats accuse grandparents and veterans of being “insurrectionists.”

Canada signing a trade agreement with China to permit the import of EVs is another escalation in the exploitation of the USMCA compact. For the position of China, using Canada as a route to ship component goods into the United States is just a slight expansion of their current technique to avoid U.S. tariffs. However, President Trump is taking action immediately. Noting on his Truth Social platform, President Trump announced that if Canada does effectively go through with allowing the import of Chinese electric vehicles, then the U.S. will impose a 100% countervailing duty against all Canadian imports.

The pandemic agenda, important to maintaining a healthy market for mRNA vaccines, is reliant on a general sense of fear and urgency to achieve success. Mitigating against this is the unfortunate decline in infectious disease and dearth of recent naturally derived pandemics. With COVID-19 fading and looking worryingly unnatural in origin, the pandemic industry is developing an increasing interest in ancient history, when its offerings may have proven more useful. In the year 1347 the armies of the Kipchak Turkic confederation under the Khan Janibeg, who were attacking the Genoese fortress at Kaffa in the Crimea, catapulted dead bodies over the walls into the city.

Physics and reality are taking their revenge. And New Yorkers are paying the price. On Thursday, the Public Service Commission approved Con Ed’s request for a rate hike that will result in an additional $615 per year in gas and electricity costs for the average New York City resident by 2028. While bureaucrats are insisting that “law, not politics” is driving the cost increases, the truth is that over the past few years, New York’s Democratic politicians have made a series of disastrous energy decisions. Over 235 million people under winter storm warnings have begun to hunker down as the devastating storm is projected to bring snow, ice and frigid temperatures to parts of 40 states stretching from Texas over to the Carolinas and up the East Coast. Trump urged residents in Fern’s path on Friday night to “stay safe and stay warm” and that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is ready to respond to the potentially historic storm.

We’re glad to see Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem elbowed aside. Her performance in recent weeks as the situation in Minnesota escalated out of control did not serve the president or the country well. Without anyone backing off on matters of principle, state and federal leaders now can find some accommodation —
