Super Flu? More Like Super Hype

Original Article

The BBC informs us that we have entered a ‘Super-Flu’ crisis, “unlike anything since the pandemic”. Other outlets scream that hospitals are facing a “worst case scenario”. Wes Streeting expands by telling us that a “tidal wave of flu” is tearing through them. Schools have closed pre-emptively, particularly in Wales. Some closures are to provide ‘firebreaks’, not because they have many cases. Leeds schoolchildren have been told not to sing in assembly. Shadowy ‘NHS Leaders’ advise the public to wear masks, with this recommendation shuffling-ly endorsed by the PM. Masking has been mandated at a few hospitals.

This ridiculous bs will soon take place in the US. Even if there is a "super" flu bug masks are not at all effective. Common sense dictates that a microbe which can only be "seen" by electron microscopy will go straight thru the spaces of any fiber material such as used in paper or cloth masks. Sadly, the public is largely ignorant of science based logic and is willing to follow the dictates of public health officials. That is exactly what happened with the "covid" bs.

I think I already had the super flu. I usually recover from a bug in a day or less. This time around it was the better part of 2 weeks. I lost my appetite for two days, and tried to stay warm and quiet, and got a fair amount of extra sleep.

Lady Chihuahua and myself both test positive for covid about ten days ago. Runny nose and fever. Not much. Sadly, it did cause me one bout of a-fib. Went 8 months without any a-fib which was nice. Took extra Tylenol for a few days to combat the fever and that was it. Lady Chihuahua was prescribed Paxlovid. Thought I saw a headline the other day that the state of New York is enacting flu protocols. Here we go again.

#3 is right. There is a very nasty flue virus running around right now. We got it, and it's still causing coughing fits two weeks later. Bad experience. Last December, we all finally caught CoVID. This flue was worse than that. However, it's not life threatening. If you get it, it seems to get worse for about a week, but you will get over it. Cepacol extra strength lozenges helped with the coughing fits, and DayQuil / NyQuil helped with everything else.

The medical-porn industry lost all credibility in the years since 2020. They made a fortune and will attempt to do it again. A few Karens will wear masks and the ads to get shots will pop up everywhere. You know what to do.

Who knew that, to the BBC, flu spreading at medium levels is super flu spreading like Covid-19. This is kind of like chicken little crying, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling!”

William Blake was wrong to say that Milton was “of the Devil’s party without knowing it.” In Paradise Lost, John Milton demonstrated a breathtaking vision which is the last thing that a poet of the ‘devil’s party’ is capable of doing. If you want to see a work of the ‘devil’s party’, Netflix has a cartoon ‘reimagining’ Cinderella’s stepsisters as the misunderstood heroines. This devilishly unoriginal work follows half a dozen similar revisionist reworkings of classic children’s stories so that the villains are the heroes, e.g. Maleficent, Wicked, Cruella, for the same reason. Members of the ‘devil’s party’ don’t create: they take what someone else made, and invert it.

Almost as quickly as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese could pretend not to notice who shot up Bondi Beach on Sunday — a horrific act of Islamic terror against local Jews during Chanukah — the Labor leader announced swift action to insure that such an attack could never happen again.What swift action might that be?" I can hear you ask. "Roll up the ISIS cell in Sydney that apparently everybody knew about? Expel unassimilated foreigners? Teach Australian police to, I don't know, shoot back right away instead of standing around with their thumbs up their you-know-whats?" Nah. According to Albanese, what Australia really needs is more gun laws.

It is possible that when you were looking into news items recently, you came to CNN’s digital platform and ran into a problem. You try to open up an article and get a window explaining that you need to subscribe to read a basic news entry. This is a result of a new foray the outlet began in expanding its digital reach, and it has been a mystery how well things are going.It was back in October when CNN All Access, the cable news channel’s third attempt at establishing a foothold in the evolving digital landscape, was rolled out. If this comes as a surprise, it is understandable;

The corporate press has consistently depicted the Indiana Senate’s Thursday vote against creating more pro-Republican congressional maps as a sign of “loyalty” or “betrayal” of President Trump. But the reality is a lot more complicated, and it has a lot to say about the current distraction and incompetence of the Republican Party. “Indiana lawmakers defy Trump’s redistricting push,” headlined The New York Times.Indiana Republicans defy Trump,” headlined the Associated Press. Politico described the Thursday vote as “Indiana GOP’s Trump rebuke.” To be sure, there’s definitely an anti-Trump factor to the fact that 21 of 40 Republican state senators — a majority! — voted against redistricting.

key congressional panel focused on China’s impacts on human rights and religious freedom is urging Congress and the Trump administration to do far more to combat Beijing’s transnational intimidation and repression campaigns in the United States and across the globe. In a sweeping 2025 annual report, the Congressional Executive Commission on China, co-chaired by Republicans Sen. Dan Sullivan and Rep. Chris Smith, warned of a continued multifaceted campaign of transnational repression against members of Chinese communities in the U.S. and abroad and critics aimed at intimidating individuals and stifling dissent.

Often in international relations, negotiations are held ‘where an intermediary travels back and forth between parties who are unwilling to communicate directly with each other’. They call this shuttle diplomacy. Because of Donald J. Trump’s vision that peace and cooperation with Russia will open up an age of prosperity for all involved, the US is devoting considerable resources to try to bridge the positions of Moscow and Kiev, and bring about a peace settlement.So, even if, like me, you are tired of the seemingly endless rounds of negotiation, we have to admit that it’s a heroic task worthy of our respect.

This time of year, it’s not unusual for parents of younger elementary school kids to start having discussions of when their son or daughter will get wise to the reality of Santa Claus. At some point, one parent may say to another, “How old were you when you quit believing?” That brings me to the same question, different myth. In the aftermath of the massive Feeding Our Future scandal and broader allegations of systemic fraud in Minnesota’s social programs, a troubling theme has emerged: accusations of racism repeatedly used to deflect scrutiny, intimidate investigators and stall accountability. Rumors and reports of fraud in Minneapolis, primarily within the city’s exploding Somali community, have been circulating for at least a decade, but criticism of the fraud has been largely dismissed by elected Democrats as "racist" or being underpinned by animosity toward foreigners. News stories focused on Somali fraudsters in recent years were shot down as "racist."

If a single person from the Biden administration deserves sustained scrutiny, Alejandro Mayorkas sits at the top of the list. As Secretary of Homeland Security, he presided over the most chaotic period at the southern border in modern American history. It's not even close. There were record crossings, overwhelmed cities, and steeply climbing fentanyl deaths, thriving cartels, all with governors begging for help. Yet as the Trump administration continues to settle back in power, Mayorkas has barely been mentioned: When was the last time you heard his name mentioned? Silence follows a man whose fingerprints are all over a still-broken — but rapidly repairing — system.
