Sarah Beckstrom, one of the national guard troops shot in Washington DC on Wednesday, has died, Donald Trump said on Thursday.
“Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of the guardsmen that we’re talking about, highly respected, young, magnificent person … She’s just passed away. She’s no longer with us,” Trump said in his first live remarks since the shooting.
Beckstrom, 20, was one of two members of the national guards shot near the White House in a targeted attack. The other member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still fighting for his life, according to the president.

In regards to the shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, never let it be said that the Democrats didn’t get precisely what they wanted. Oh, sure — they didn’t call for a shooting in so many words. They just used a few more to dance around the issue — as demonstrated by Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin, whose comments this weekend about National Guard deployments to stem crime are now going viral in the wake of the shooting. (Snip) That brings us to Slotkin, a Democrat elected as a moderate who has turned out to be far

Democratic Tennessee congressional candidate Aftyn Behn said in resurfaced audio that lawmakers openly praying during legislative sessions make her “uncomfortable.”
While appearing on the “Red State Blue Moon” podcast in June 2024, Behn complained that the Tennessee Legislature opens up with prayer at the beginning of each legislative session. She further complained that Christian pastors and prayer groups have “proximity to power” in the Legislature and that religion is often at the center of the state’s politics.
“And I think, especially as someone who is more secular, I have a hard time when religion is at the core of everything we do in the Legislature. For example, on the House floor,

Fuzzy Zoeller, a two-time major champion and one of golf's most gregarious characters whose career was tainted by a racially insensitive joke about Tiger Woods, has died, according to a longtime colleague. He was 74.
A cause of death was not immediately available. Brian Naugle, the tournament director of the Insperity Invitational in Houston, said Zoeller's daughter called him Thursday with the news.
Zoeller was the last player to win the Masters on his first attempt, a three-man playoff in 1979. He famously waved a white towel at Winged Foot in 1984 when he thought Greg Norman had beat him, only to defeat Norman in an 18-hole playoff the next day.

Charlie Sheen is not known for holding back.
But a recent conversation with Megyn Kelly offered something rare from a Hollywood figure: humility, self-reflection, and a willingness to admit he might have been wrong.
Kelly asked Sheen this past weekend if he had grown more comfortable discussing his increasingly right-leaning views, especially given his father Martin Sheen’s long-standing ties to Hollywood’s leftist elitism.
Sheen, who is promoting a book, said that he had.
He told Kelly that many people, himself included, remain “beholden to the structure of the house that we were raised in.”
Sheen then divulged some truth about the left’s policies, not only in his native California, but everywhere run by Democrats.

New Jersey governor-elect Mikie Sherrill (D.) turned to former energy secretary Jennifer Granholm, an architect of Biden-era green energy policies—which polls show are unpopular with Garden State voters—to co-chair her transition team’s energy task force.
The governor-elect’s energy team is a quasi-reunion of Biden administration alumni—in addition to Granholm, former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) member Allison Clements will serve as its other co-chair. It’s a signal that although Sherrill ran to the middle on energy issues during her gubernatorial campaign, she is prepared to govern as a climate hawk. Granholm and Clements have a long history of supporting far-left policies, such as EV mandates, gas stove bans, and expensive

BELLINGHAM, Washington — The Afghan terrorist accused of shooting two National Guard troops had been living a seemingly quiet family life in a $2,000-a-month apartment in this idyllic Washington state town – where neighbors said the FBI busted into his home during a Wednesday raid.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, was often seen playing Call of Duty and FIFA inside the bare apartment, which he shared with his hijab-wearing wife and his five kids, stunned neighbors in Bellingham told The Post on Thursday. Neighbors said the refugees — who arrived in 2021 after the chaotic US pullout from Afghanistan — had no beds, and there were only “some couch cushions

The father of National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom, who was critically wounded in Wednesday's attack in Washington, D.C., said Thursday that his daughter is not expected to survive, The New York Times reported. “I’m holding her hand right now,” Gary Beckstrom told the newspaper about his 20-year-old daughter, a Specialist in the National Guard. “She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi previously spoke about Beckstrom in an interview with Fox News, without naming her, saying: "She volunteered to work on Thanksgiving—working today, as did many other guardsmen and women so that other people
