Louisiana Residents Sue Over Carbon Capture
Land Seizures

A lawsuit filed Thursday by residents of central Louisiana challenges whether a state can legally take private property for private carbon capture and sequestration projects. The lawsuit, filed in the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge, claims laws passed since 2020 violate the state constitution by allowing companies engaged in carbon capture and storage to use eminent domain for private gain.

Comments:

"Climate Change" and Eminent Domain combine to trample property rights in a "red state."

Look beyond trying to capture minuscule amounts of Co2. It's using eminent domain to steal property for an anticipated development: hotels, casinos, .....Section 8 housing? Remember Kelo V. New London Connecticut?

Live in Acadiana. I never heard any discussions regarding this idea of Carbon Capture. I was shocked to hear that President Trump thought it was a wonderful idea. As usual the living and working people of Louisiana were not "officially told" about this carbon crOp. Seems like this idea, carbon capture, has basically failed in most US places. Why Louisiana? Years back there was a great idea. Windmills in the Gulf America. DId not happen. So now it's carbon capture in the middle of Louisiana? How about sinking some carbon captures off Virginia, or New Jersey? Gov. Jeff Landry. Go fishin' in the old bayou and catch an alligator. Ptooey on youie.

'Are you really Christian?' a kid from St. Catherine said during our endless theological discussions either at the playground or playing fast pitching on the wall of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox church. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's dismissive description of half the country as a "basket of deplorables" may have cost her the 2016 election. Now the National Education Association's use of "villains," in handouts for an upcoming "Advancing LGBTQ+ Justice and Transgender Advocacy" training, may fuel bicameral efforts to remove its 119-year-old congressional charter.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is launching an investigation into Sixteen Thirty Fund's Chorus Creator Incubator Program, according to letters obtained by the Daily Caller. The Sixteen Thirty Fund -- whose donors include nonprofits tied to George Soros -- is a nonprofit that has been accused of trying to sidestep campaign-finance disclosure rules enforced by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and Justice Department. It also bypasses standard media-ethics practices meant to differentiate real journalism from paid political work that must be disclosed, according to Comer.

Interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan is defending her handling of the grand jury proceedings, which resulted in two criminal charges against fired FBI Director James Comey, in the wake of critiques from a magistrate judge and probing questions Wednesday from the federal judge presiding over the case. Halligan . . . pushed back on multiple criticisms in Wednesday evening court filings, telling the judge that "the grand jury was provided the proposed indictment, deliberated, and determined probable cause existed to believe that the defendant had committed the crimes charged in two counts" and claiming that the magistrate judge had misrepresented her comments . . . .

When a respected former prosecutor approached the Justice Department in 2018 with a witness who claimed he had evidence on Hunter Biden's alleged misdeeds, they discounted his offer and later subpoenaed his phone records. The incident is gaining new salience after recent revelations that DOJ special counsel Jack Smith cast a net of subpoenas for phone records of several GOP members of Congress and even obtained government phones that had belonged to President Donald Trump and his former vice president.

The Trump administration has so far remained silent on a widening corruption scandal inside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's government and inner circle. The White House did not respond to a request for comment on a $100 million corruption probe announced this week that has already prompted the resignations of senior Ukrainian officials. Corruption has long been a friction point in U.S.-Ukraine relations.

ABC News might soon find itself staring down another expensive defamation lawsuit from President Trump, and honestly, it wouldn't come as a shock. On a recent episode of The View, Joy Behar confidently claimed that it was "obvious" Trump was a pedophile connected with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, implicating him in Epstein’s crimes. This wild accusation came without a shred of evidence tying Trump to Epstein’s criminal activities. In fact, Trump is arguably one of the few prominent figures who did the right thing and severed ties with Epstein years ago, unlike many Democrats who have since been ensnared in the fallout. Despite the Democrats’ best efforts, the recent dump

Few stories grabbed national attention quite like the Cracker Barrel rebrand did this year. Even amid endless high-profile developments in Washington, the Cracker Barrel rebrand stood out as offensive to Americans everywhere. Like Bud Light's partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, Cracker Barrel's new look felt like an attack on an American institution from an out-of-touch C-suite that bought into the leftist idea of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The backlash was so severe that the company publicly slammed the brakes on their modern makeover and promised Americans they weren't changing a thing.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin chapters filed a federal lawsuit Thursday seeking to overturn Abbott’s proclamation issued earlier in the week. "This attempt to punish the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization simply because Governor Abbott disagrees with its views is not only contrary to the United States Constitution, but finds no support in any Texas law," the group said in its lawsuit. Founded in 1994, CAIR operates 25 chapters nationwide,

For months, Donald Trump warned New Yorkers against electing Zohran Mamdani as mayor, referring to him as a “communist lunatic.” Mamdani, meanwhile, called Trump a “despot.” All of that was put aside in an extraordinary Oval Office get-together Friday, the first face-to-face meeting between the two men. Trump, who sought to kneecap Mamdani during the campaign, was exceedingly complimentary of the self-described democratic socialist, while Mamdani repeatedly talked up his hope that he and the president could work together to lower costs for New Yorkers. “I met with a man who’s a very rational person,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office following the private
