Half of Americans are lonely and isolated—and artificial intelligence is stepping into the void.
Sam Altman just announced that OpenAI will soon provide erotica for sexually lonely adults. Mark Zuckerberg envisions a future where solitary people enjoy AI friends. According to the Harvard Business Review, the top uses for large language models are therapy and companionship.
It’s easy to see why this is happening. AI is always available, endlessly patient, and unfailingly agreeable. Millions now pour their secrets into silicon confidants, comforted by algorithms that respond with affirmation and tact. But what masquerades as friendship is, in fact, a dangerous substitute. AI therapy and friendship burrow us deeper into

A friend recently sent me a video allegedly of President Trump talking about the current stand off in Congress. I knew from the opening it was not P DJT speaking. The cadence was off and sounded stilted, like so many AI narrations do. He thought it was real.
How many people have the acuity to determine when it's AI or real.?

This is a huge mistake to allow this into our homes!
My doctor's office is using AI to record everything I say and type it up. I opted out!!!

Make up your own mind otherwise someone else will do it for you. Be they a live influencer/manipulator or an AI, and they will have ulterior motives.
On the other hand, an AI can be programmed to be respectful and polite. Qualities lacking in many people. Don't believe that? Play an online game for a while or follow some of the less civil forums. AIs are also improving over time. I can see a market for this stuff.

Perhaps the perfect storm: Gen Z, and all the alphabets that follow, has not been taught how to reason critically nor how to even go about such a process. Couple this with the ultimate scapegoat to blame when there is a problem (e.g. medical requests denied, no job openings, requests lost / never recieved, protocols require "x" before we can proceed, etc. etc.) - no one / person did anything wrong it was AI and we humans can't do anything about it because our AI complies with all legally mandated protocols. Oh, and by the way "have a nice day!". Couldn't be happier that I'm close enough to the finish line that I won't be around for this Brave New World!

WHAT, in the name of reality is AI erotica for sexually lonely adults? Isn't porn (watching other humans do things the viewer can't find a partner to do those things with) stimulating enough for these losers?
Now Altman will give them fake humans doing the same things to each "other"?

I watch a lot of Youtube. You can tell most of the time when a video is AI. I honestly don't have a problem with the ones with animals. They're usually cute and entertaining. I don't watch the political ones because it's blatantly obvious they are AI. So here's what I think is a good solution, somewhere on the screen the letters AI should be displayed. It can be small and tasteful but at least it would be honest.

Men and women aggravate each other something awful. The only reason they tolerate each other at all is for the sex. Babies are often the result. If there were a way for men or women to get the sex without the aggravation, a very large percentage of the population would jump on it (so to speak). Even now a lot of people are deciding the sex isn't worth it.
They are working on robots who mimic human appearance and whatever actions the owners want. Add AI to that and the species will begin to die out. Thank you womens lib, tattoo artists and gay lobby for making us unattractive to each other.

AI is writing a LOT of websites. They are terrible. Don't real humans proofread them? They are super easy to discern from the ones humans (with natural level cognitive development) have designed. The "In Conclusion" at the end is usually a dead giveaway. Obvious mistakes that were harvested from other websites that a human would spot. Redundancies such as rearraigning paragraphs to say the exact same thing from a slightly different point of view. If you find yourself thinking "real people don't talk this way", yep.

Poster nine, people don't care about good writing, grammar, punctuation, or even accuracy in information anymore. For most people proofreading and editing is just spellcheck.

It seems to me that AI is a powerful tool that can be used for good or evil.
Unfortunately, evil people will use it for evil.

AI-generated advertising is insulting. And middle-schoolers could do a better job of producing any of the YouTube documentaries of bands.

My best friend (high school / college) and I had a discussion about AI.
We agreed that anything with the human factor removed would not end well.

Is AI good or bad? It’s like fire. If you learn to use it, live with it properly, it is a great asset. If you are lazy, stupid, careless it will burn you. The problem is that far too many people ARE lazy, stupid or careless.
