The Trump administration announced Monday that it will unlock over 13 million acres for coal leasing on federal land, roll back regulations and invest $625 million into the coal industry as part of a multi-agency initiative. The Department of the Interior (DOI), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) all announced while at a DOI-hosted “beautiful, clean coal” event that the agencies will do their part to bolster the coal industry in line with President Donald Trump’s energy agenda. In contrast, the Biden administration imposed stringent regulations on the coal industry, with former President Joe Biden vowing to shut coal “plants down all across America,”

The heart of modern prosperity is affordable and reliable energy. In order to be that it must be abundant. That is exactly what Democrats are enemies of. Trump is simply fulfilling one more election promise.

Coal is REAL power, 24/7/365. Not like those stupid intermittent windmills or solar.

America has a LOT of coal. My understanding is that it requires a lot of equipment to burn it reasonably cleanly, although I have not kept up with recent developments. My understanding is that fuel for a central electrical power plant is by far the best use for coal. It is not practical as a fuel for individual homes or commercial buildings the way fuel oil or natural gas can be used. I believe we should use coal as much as we can to generate electricity, and save the natural gas for other uses, piped to homes and buildings for cooking, heating and water heating, for instance, and use the fuel oil -which is very similar to Diesel fuel or 'Jet A' fuel, for Diesel engines and jet engine uses. I believe we should also be looking at developing the newer, safer standardized designs for atomic power plants, and building plants to those designs. Solar has its place, as does wind power, but on a cold, still winter's night......these don't work, and the large battery energy storage facilities have some kinks to work out, as demonstrated by the occasional large, inextinguishable fires in some of those facilities that we sometimes read about.

A mine near our town recently reopened, and it has been less than stellar. There have been several serious accidents and shut downs, some lasting months. The highest production I have seen is two coal trains a day (100 cars) leaving, but more often its nothing. Sad. I love the trains and I love the money and jobs that coal brings into our depressed area. After Obama we just about dried up and blew away.

The flying of the Chinese flag over Philadelphia City Hall to promote cultural ties has been criticized as supporting the authoritarian government in Beijing. The flag’s raising by the city’s Office of Immigrant Affairs is to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and promote cultural exchange between Philadelphia and its Chinese sister city, Tianjin, according to reports. But it has prompted an angry appeal by a U.S. lawmaker to Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker to scrap the plan.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Tuesday a slew of new personnel fitness and grooming directives going after “fat general” and “beardos” in the military. The new directives will require all military members to pass two fitness tests a year, regardless of rank, and to meet the highest combat standards previously reserved only for men, Hegseth said during his speech at Quantico to senior military leaders. He also announced he would strictly enforce grooming standards for all military members, with exceptions for special operations forces. Hegseth made elevating standards a top priority of his tenure after years of declining standards often intended to lower barriers to entry and attract more recruits.

And it’s not just the investment giant, there are more jobs in the banking sector in the Lone Star State than in New York, once the unrivaled financial services capital of the country and world, said Kathryn Wylde, president and CEO of the Partnership for New York City. “Right now, the big challenge is are we going to remain competitive for jobs?” Wylde said Sunday on WABC 770 AM the “Cats Roundtable” program. “The financial services industry, they’re our biggest taxpayers and major employers

The Republic of Ireland will offer families of supposed asylum seekers up to €10,000 to drop their claims and voluntarily leave the country, in an apparent admission that the government’s open borders policies have gone too far. Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan has signed an order to increase the voluntary return grant for alleged asylum seekers, increasing the payout to €2,500 ($2,900) for individuals or €10,000 ($11,700) for families who willingly drop their asylum claims and leave the country, The Irish Times reports. This is nearly double the previous payouts, which stood at €1,500 ($1,800) per person or €6,000 ($7,000) per family, prior to the order from Minister O’Callaghan.

Kathryn Nester, Robinson’s lawyer, told Judge Tony Graf in the Provo courtroom that she needs at least another month to weigh through a massive amount of documents before further discussion about a preliminary hearing. Graf set another waiver hearing for 10 a.m. Mountain Standard Time Oct. 30, and the prosecution and defense had no objections to the date and time.

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) unveiled a six-figure ad buy on Monday to warn voters of awarding unified control of Virginia to Democrats ahead of the commonwealth’s Nov. 4 general election. The 30-second spot, running as early voting is underway, urges viewers to reject Democratic candidates who would decide the commonwealth’s immigration enforcement, energy and schools’ bathroom and locker room policies if elected in November. The ad campaign comes as Republicans are looking to defy a trend in Virginia’s off-year elections, which tends to benefit the party who does not control the White House.

Virginia governor candidate Abigail Spanberger proved yet again she wants to make Virginians poor and financially struggling—endorsing a terrible state law that is projected to increase energy costs by $3,500 per customer. Spanberger embraced the poorly-named “Virginia Clean Economy Act,” signed into law in 2020 under former Gov. Ralph Northam, which will ban oil and gas production in Virginia, mandating that both of our state’s two utilities produce 100% renewable electricity by 2050. This law is already having ruinous effects: Energy prices are higher, and Virginia now imports 40% of its electricity from out-of-state, up from 18% in 2020.

On Tuesday, more than 100,000 federal workers are expected to walk out the door through a deferred resignation program, marking the largest single-year reduction in the civilian federal workforce since World War II. Factor in layoffs, buyouts, early retirements, and natural attrition, and the government could shed roughly 275,000 employees by the end of 2025.
