A Virginia high school violated the free speech rights of students when it named its school after Confederate Army General Stonewall Jackson, a federal judge ruled recently. The Virginia NAACP sued Shenandoah County’s school board over its decision in 2024 to bring back the name “Stonewall Jackson” for its high school. In 2020, the school board changed the name to “Mountain View.”

I did not know that judges had the authority to decide how schools should be named. Also, if you knew anything about Jackson, you would know that he was a man of integrity who provided opportunities for blacks to get an education.

Ridiculous claim. The name of a school has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on student's freedom of speech.

Does this mean that ant time that students decide that the person who the school is named after is out of political favor, they can sue to not be associated with that name under the First Amendment? Can White students sue because they are forced to attend George Floyd High School or Malcolm X HS? What about not liking Barack Obama HS or Ruth Bader Ginsberg HS? The Judge has opened the floodgates with this ridiculous ruling.

Here’s a proposal, why don’t all you who are too butt-hurt to wear the name of one of the greatest military officers in U.S. history, but also a great moral Christian man who gave up his slaves long before the North commenced their hostilities against the South.

Pick any name from history for your school, and I will find someone who objects to it. As others have noted, if a school is named after a black "leader", non-blacks should object. Continue this course of action until judges realize that their rulings are stupid.

The American Journal of Economics and Sociology recently removed special editor Marty Rowland from his position for publishing a paper refuting climate change argument about carbon dioxide, according to the paper’s authors. “The standard response of the mainstream climate science community these days to papers that somewhat challenge the CO2-is-dangerous-narrative is to immediately ask for retraction,” Marcel Crok, a co-author of the paper and director of the climate science group Clintel, told The College Fix.

Boston's sanctuary sheriff was arrested Friday on federal charges after allegedly leveraging his elected position to extort $50,000 from a cannabis executive who was seeking state approval to open a dispensary—a scheme FBI Director Kash Patel called a betrayal of public trust. Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Tompkins, 67, who oversees more than 1,000 employees in the Boston-area, was handcuffed Friday morning in the Southern District of Florida after a federal grand jury indicted him on two counts of extortion under color of official right, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts.

A U.S. federal appeals court ruled Friday that the United States must face potentially billions of dollars in legal claims over a temporary ban on residential evictions during the COVID pandemic that affected millions of landlords. The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in a 7-3 decision, rejected the government's bid to overturn a decision by a panel of judges last year that refused to dismiss claims from landlords seeking compensation over the eviction moratorium.

France and Saudi Arabia hope to use this year’s gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly and the increasingly horrific war in the Gaza Strip to inject new urgency into the quest for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Those efforts include a new road map for eventual Palestinian statehood in territories Israel seized in the 1967 Mideast war, and moves by several Western countries to join a global majority in recognizing such a state before it has been established. Britain, Canada and Australia formally recognized a Palestinian state on Sunday, joining nearly 150 countries that have already done so,
