A Degree of Perceived Nuisance

Britain is being roiled by protests against its government’s feckless immigration policies. Enormous numbers of “asylum seekers” have been welcomed into that country, fed and housed. A disproportionate number of those migrants are single men, and many native Britons understandably see their presence as an invasion that is being abetted by their own government. The commission of many sex crimes by these migrants has been the chief source of unrest.

Comments:

Absolutely spineless, cowardly British and Scottish leaders. Raping your women and children is NOT a nuisance, it is a serious crime, which has been punished in many societies for centuries by death. It's not something for the police and authorities to ignore.

No difference than what was happening here with the Joe Biden-Democrat invitational illegal invasion. Now the problem is getting rid of them in spite of the Democrat judges who feel they are more high ranking than the elected President.

RFK shuts down government-sponsored mRNA

In a reversal of one of the most prominent biomedical investment trends of the past five years, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on August 5 a coordinated wind-down of its mRNA vaccine development efforts under the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). To be clear, it is not a ban on mRNA, but the changes carry significant repercussions for mRNA vaccine research. The decision affects 22 federal vaccine projects and nearly $500 million in research and development contracts. It follows what HHS described as a “comprehensive review” of data from mRNA-related initiatives launched during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

One of the places I visited during a trip to the Balkans in June was a large nuclear bunker complex on the outskirts of Tiranë, the capital of Albania. It’s a massive underground structure—five stories, 106 rooms, and a two-story-high assembly hall, all covering 32,000 square feet—and was built in the 1970s during the height of the Cold War to shelter Albania’s Stalinist leader Enver Hoxha and his inner circle. Dug by hand, the bunker claimed the lives of many laborers. One could see it as the culmination of the many smaller domed concrete bunkers scattered across Albania’s landscape, cities, and beaches.
When AI Stops Thinking and Starts Preaching 8 replies

A computer is only as good as the data you put into it. That warning from the early days of computing -- garbage in, garbage out -- has never been more relevant than in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). AI now drives everything from search engines to image generators, yet instead of providing objective, data-backed insights, it too often parrots progressive narratives, twisting facts to match feelings. Case in point: despite U.S. Census Bureau data indicating that over 75% of Americans identify as white, AI-generated images of “typical Americans” often show mostly non-white groups. This isn’t intelligence. It’s indoctrination, built into algorithms by ideologues in Silicon Valley.
The strange ATF case of Patrick Adamiak 15 replies

Three years ago Patrick Adamiak was an E-6 in the Navy, on his way to finishing a military career. At 28, he had a private business selling popular gun parts and replica, non-firing weapons. Today, he’s nearing his third year in a federal prison, serving a 20-year sentence. His life fell apart when the ATF decided to take an interest in him. They raided his home and found nothing illegal, just gun parts and entirely legal, semiautomatic guns. But these were the Biden/Garland years and guns of any kind, and gun owners, were in their crosshairs.

Our South Carolina neighborhood has green cans for garbage and blue cans for recycling. All our neighbors dutifully separate their garbage. We don’t, and we don’t for a very specific reason. What I discovered a couple of years ago is that, while different trucks drive around collecting blue and green cans on garbage day, at the end of the shift, the trucks dump all the garbage into the same landfill. It’s a scam that, according to my local representative, makes people feel good about themselves. When I lived in Marin County, California, we also had to separate our garbage. That wasn’t surprising, though

A Massachusetts jury found Karen Read not guilty of murder by reason of O.J. Simpson on Wednesday. If the broken taillight did not hit, you must acquit. O.J. Simpson vowed to find the “real killers” after his acquittal. Read said outside the courtroom Wednesday, “No one has fought harder for justice for John O’Keefe than I have.” As Simpson tormenter Norm Macdonald might joke if cancer did not murder him: What terrible luck that the person who fights the hardest for justice for you winds up murdering you. Read stood accused of killing her Boston policeman boyfriend with her car in a 2022 snowstorm after a night of hard drinking.

In December 2009, the Endangerment Finding was born when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under then-president Obama ruled that carbon dioxide (CO2) endangered human health and thus could be regulated as a pollutant. The EPA’s action flowed from an expansive and unjustified decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that CO2 was a pollutant simply because it was emitted into the air, and if the agency found it endangered human health or welfare, it could regulate it. VOX has referred to the court’s decision as the Roe v. Wade of climate policy, and VOX is right.[snip] CO2 is not listed as a pollutant or hazardous chemical under the 1970 Clean Air Act

A London academic has appealed to policymakers and military leaders to consider taking remedial action to minimise the impact of civil wars, which he warns have become a distinct possibility in Western nations. Professor of War in the Modern World, David Betz of King’s College London, has claimed that many European countries now exhibit signs of being in a pre-civil war state. According to his research, there is a statistically significant chance of a war breaking out in the next five years in a Western state, and given Europe’s interconnected nature, it could spark similar conflicts in neighbouring nations.

After Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. booted the 17-member CDC vaccine advisory panel, the naysayers in the press clutched their pearls and howled their horrors. Here's a typical reaction from -- where else? -- MSNBC: Dr. Sean O’Leary, an infectious disease expert with the American Academy of Pediatrics, told NBC News that Kennedy’s evidence-free accusations are “deeply insulting to the many scientists who contribute countless hours to the process.” The doctor noted that the ACIP panel is “a model for the rest of the world,” adding that Kennedy is now responsible for “manufactured chaos.”

The black community’s disengagement from ordinary acts of civic responsibility is harming America as a whole, but mostly, it’s harming blacks. To save their communities, blacks need to reengage with what was once normative polite conduct across American society. To appreciate this point, consider the tales told by abandoned shopping carts and litter. [snip] Here’s the thing: Shopping carts and litter are just the most benign signs of conscientiousness and citizenship. The lack of such betrays itself in far more malignant ways as well, and we’re seeing that across the country, particularly in videos: Spirit Airlines airport counters. Six Flags parks. It has been fully recognized since the November election that the Democratic Party has been hobbled more than a three-legged gelding, but things refuse to improve for that lot. Throughout this year, the party has seen its prospects withering across the board, whether it is in internal operations, public approval, voting efforts, fundraising, or media outreach. And much like the condition of the national media industry, there is no desire exhibited by them to change what is not working. And this week it became even worse. It was announced that the Bill Gates Foundation was suspending its monetary involvement with one of the primary non-profits affiliated with the Democratic Party.

In a decision issued Friday evening, U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb granted a request by an immigrant advocacy group to put a hold on a pair of policies the administration issued in January that made millions more immigrants eligible for expulsion from the U.S. under a process known as “expedited removal.”
