Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem announced that President Donald Trump's administration is awarding tens of millions of dollars to hundreds of religious organizations to beef up their security, following the horrific Minnesota shooting at Annunciation Catholic School.
In a lengthy post on X on Friday, Noem wrote that, "DHS is awarding $110 million to more than 600 faith-based organizations and nonprofits across the US. In the face of violent criminals and radical organizations intent on hurting American communities, the Trump Administration is helping houses of worship, schools, and community centers to harden their defenses against attacks and protect themselves."
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) joined other Democrats in mocking the idea of prayer in the wake of the mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis this week, noting that the children were praying at the time.
In a post on X, responding to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s claim that “prayer works,”, Newsom said: “There children were literally praying as they got shot at,” implying that prayer does not work. Democrats have long attacked the idea of offering “thoughts and prayers” for the victims and their families in the wake of mass shootings, arguing that political action is needed, particularly gun control legislation.
NEW YORK - A divided U.S. appeals court ruled on Friday that most of Donald Trump's tariffs are illegal, undercutting the Republican president's use of the levies as a key international economic policy tool.

There used to be an axiom in politics that high voter turnout always favored the Democrats because it meant that more minorities and other demographic groups that favored Democrats showed up to vote.
That's simply not true today. The realization that fewer people voting is better for Democrats upends 60 years of Democratic strategy about maximizing voter turnout of all demographic groups.
Previously, the thinking was that increasing voter turnout for all groups was good for Democrats because even if GOTV efforts brought a few more Republicans to the polls, the massive numbers of Democratic voters would swamp any opponent.
During her morning news conference, Sheinbaum pointed to a graph that showed the number of deportations of Mexican nationals by the U.S. presidents. “The largest period of deportations from the United States to Mexico was with Bill Clinton, from 1993 to 2001,” she said. “There was one year, 2000, with 1,150,906 Mexicans deported.”
Sheinbaum then pointed to the term of U.S. President Barack Obama, who deported 601,356 Mexicans in his first year. During Trump’s second term, Mexico has only seen 86,017 deportations.

She was arrested because the tools she used to scare away the predator were a knife and an axe. A 14-year-old girl in Scotland has been charged with possession of a knife after viral footage showed her and another minor being approached and filmed by at least one foreign man.

First of all, and unfortunately in my view, a lot of Democrat-aligned influencers built their audiences the old-fashioned way--by building a following by saying what they think. I've not looked deeply into any particular "influencer," but I don't automatically assume that all of them are paid shills.

The pain of the awful Minneapolis school shooting Wednesday is still fresh in our hearts, but White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed Thursday at a press briefing that another tragedy may have been averted in Washington, D.C.
She said that law enforcement in the nation’s capital arrested a juvenile Wednesday night for "allegedly threatening violence towards a school," just hours after the Annunciation Church School shooting, which left two children dead and at least 17 victims injured.
