Trump Tries to Scare the Hell Out of Russia

He may succeed only in scaring everyone else, though. Like a bolt from the blue on Friday, President Trump signaled that his patience with the Kremlin was all but exhausted. The time for carrots is behind us. Russian recalcitrance can be broken only with sticks. And the president is brandishing the biggest stick in his arsenal: The unusually bellicose statement follows remarks by Vladimir Putin’s deputy, Dmitry Medvedev, who recently dismissed President Trump’s decision to truncate the deadline he’d imposed on Russia to agree to a cease-fire with Ukraine. Medvedev implied that Russia’s nuclear arsenal grants it strategic impunity.

No American president or NATO leader has publicly clapped back at Russian nuclear bluster until now. Keep in mind that Russia (Soviet and FSU) has, at its nuclear strategic foundation, been completely rational underneath the political posturing. It's highly likely that the American "assets" are where ever already as part of their ongoing mission. It would be foolish for them not to be there.

Russia is now a country that promotes Christianity while Ukraine confiscates the monasteries of Orthodox Christians. The world has changed since the 1990s. We cannot pay for Ukranians’ pensions and kickbacks any longer. Trump managed to turn Ukraine into his own war, despite this most corrupt country getting him impeached. It is not in our interest nor military capabilities to dismember Russia into at least 3 new countries, as is the neocon objective since Brezinsky. Nuclear war is not the answer. No expansion of NATO is the answer.

Get over yourself NR. You were wrong about everything and still you persist. Something about the definition of insanity. And of course, armchair analysts will again be wrong about Trump.

The funny part is that nobody but the skippers have any idea where our nuclear subs are at any given time so the Kremlin will never know for sure. If they panic and the balloon goes up, the new world will be repopulated by those brave crews. Hooyah!

Re: #1 - With regard to the statement that Trump is the only president to clap back at Russia, I respectfully add that back in the '80s, when Trump was focused on building his financial empire and media presence, Reagan literally broke the USSR. A few decades prior to that, as a school kid living on a Florida Strategic Air Command (SAC) base, in sight of the B-52 alert ramps, I recall Kennedy causing Khrushchev to blink over Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba. First, he ordered a naval embargo around Cuba, interdicting and turning around Russian ships on the high seas carrying more Russian missiles destined for Cuba. His public statement that any missile launched from Cuba would be considered a Russian attack on the United States, prompting a full retaliatory response, was clear enough. Of course, being a democrat, JFK paid the vig by quietly removing U.S. nuclear missiles from Turkey.

Re #7, when you were at the SAC base, my father took his USN fighter squadron to NAS Key West in a 24 hour move and set up intercept missions on any unidentified aircraft during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We moved to Key West and we sometimes watched 16mm versions of first run movies with the alert crews, in all their flight gear. A couple of times they were scrambled, amazing process to watch from close up....ending with a pair if twin blue flame afterburner exhausts climbing into the stars at about a 75 degree angle. Yes.....Kennedy did seriously push back.

Harris to Colbert: Trump Broke Me 27 replies

Why did Kamala Harris take a pass on running for governor in California? It's not because she's aiming at another presidential run in 2028, Harris told Stephen Colbert. It's because she finally lost an election. No, seriously. "I don't want to back into the system," she explains, "because the system is broken." And if you think that's absurd, Colbert manages to top it: Ahem. If anyone has reason for gratitude toward "the system," it's Harris. She is and has always been an intellectual lightweight who counted on "the system" to keep her in office. It was the Democrat establishment that ensured she kept winning

The Trump administration withdrew $200 million in federal research funding to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) after a Department of Justice (DOJ) finding Thursday that it had violated the civil rights of Jewish students. As Breitbart News reported earlier this week, UCLA settled a lawsuit brought by Jewish students — and was promptly hit with a DOJ finding that it had violated the Fourteenth Amendment and the Civil Rights Act. Breitbart News reported: In April 2024, UCLA allowed anti-Israel students to set up an “encampment” in the center of campus. The university surrounded it with metal barricades and allowed activists to patrol the encampment boundary.

New Hampshire has become the first state in New England to ban gender-affirming care medication for minors after Governor Kelly Ayotte signed House Bill 377 into law on Friday. The new law prohibits healthcare providers from prescribing puberty blockers and hormone therapy for people under 18 when the medications are used by transgender youth as part of a gender transition... The new law also allows someone who was harmed by receiving this care to bring a lawsuit

Here's a hint: It's something that Democrats could not shut up about for the last four years. No, it's not Defund the Police. That mission still gets some support from the progressive/socialist vanguard, as we see in New York City. And you know it's not about Donald Trump and his supposed "threat to democracy." So which Democrat dog has ceased its barking? The one that barked up the wrong energy tree, according to an Axios review of Democrat speeches and social-media accounts: Democrats aren't explicitly disavowing the Green New Deal, but they've abruptly stopped talking about it as they scramble to find new ways to talk about climate change.

Countries that are not listed in the latest order will face an additional duty of 10%, the order said. The updated directive modifies tariffs imposed under the earlier executive order issued in April. We've seen in recently declassified documents that Hillary Clinton didn't do this alone.
