On Thursday, the United States House of Representatives narrowly passed the first rescissions package, which will eliminate billions in unnecessary spending by the federal government. The bill will now go to the Senate, where it requires only a simple majority to pass.
This first rescissions package is said to cut $9.4 billion in spending.
The House of Representatives passed President Donald Trump's $9.4 billion plan to claw back federal funds for foreign aid, PBS and NPR.
The 214 to 212 vote was mostly along party lines, with no Democrats voting for the bill. Four Republicans voted against the measure,

Unlike California, Florida is unquestionably a law-and-order state, thanks in no small part to the leadership of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Attorneys General past and present, and the countless police departments and sheriffs' offices across the Sunshine State who put the safety and security of their local communities ahead of political correctness and woke.
On Thursday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier held a press conference to discuss immigration enforcement in light of what Americans have seen unfold in the Golden State, and elsewhere, with the lunatics effectively running the asylum in Los Angeles County until President Trump sent in the National Guard.

Some have been speculating that Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) might run for Governor of New York.
Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul's term is up in 2026.
Frankly, Stefanik may have ended her on Thursday even without any campaign during a House hearing about sanctuary state policies and the harm they cause. Hochul was already operating at a deficit, being a Democrat defending a ridiculous position. But then Stefanik went to town on her, asking her if she knew any of the names that Stefanik was listing of alleged criminal illegal aliens in her state. She left Hochul stammering.

All right, I admit it: I’ve never heard of Rep. Salud Carbajal. He certainly seems to think a lot himself, however, as he deems that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth isn’t worth his time.
In yet another case of flailing Democrats acting like they’ve lost a few marbles here and there, the Californian laid into the secretary at a budget hearing before the House Armed Services Committee Thursday. While Carbajal may have thought he looked like a tough guy and embarrassed Hegseth, it was in reality the other way around. The lawmaker looked like a mean-spirited, nasty bully-wannabe, the type that would run away if he ever met Hegseth outside of Congress.

We just reported the wild action at Department of Homeland Security (DHS) head Kristi Noem's briefing.
On Thursday, Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) tried to interrupt the briefing, and then got in a scuffle with agents on the side of the room, was hauled out, and taken down to the ground. [Tweets, videos]
Now if you look at the event, you can see the senator starts loudly interrupting, coming up the side of the room, without initially identifying himself at about 6:30 in this video. Then they stop Padilla, and he's pushing back against them as you can see in the video Bill Melugin posted.

Department of Homeland Security head Kristi Noem was in Los Angeles Thursday giving a briefing to reporters on the response to the Los Angeles anti-ICE rioting. Then suddenly off to the side you can hear a commotion and someone shouting.
After he created a scene and they were removing him, he identified himself as a senator.
Noem said she would speak with him later.
When I leave here, I’ll have a conversation with him, but I think everyone would agree that wasn’t appropriate,” she said once the press conference began.
“When I leave here, I’ll find him and visit and find out really what his concerns were.

Watching Brain Stelter’s Twitter feed is like watching an elderly dog trying to put together and Ikea bookshelf or Wolf Blitzer try to answer a question a 10-year-old wrote about simple addition on Celebrity Jeopardy. There’s stupid, brain damages, and then there’s Blitzer on Jeopardy, which is technically clinically dead. And now we have Weeble.
Since the riots in Los Angeles, the Weeble has not heard a bit of left-wing propaganda he won’t parrot. I’d feel embarrassed for him if he were worth half his weight in dog excrement as a journalist – I can forgive bias if people are honest about it or conveying useful information on occasion.

Twenty-seven states and the District of Columbia are suing genetic testing company 23andMe to stop the sale of millions of users’ personal DNA information. The company recently filed for bankruptcy, as Townhall covered.
The states took legal action this week in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, arguing that 23andMe has “no right to sell their customers’ genetic identities to the highest bidder” unless the company “first obtain[s] express informed consent to the proposed transaction/transfer by each consumer impacted.”
Approximately 15 million people have used 23andMe to trace their ancestry, among other things.

During a panel discussion on CNN, Batya Ungar-Sargon, who is no conservative, by the way, delivered a fiery takedown of elite immigration narratives that left her fellow panelists visibly uneasy. Her comments drew a sharp line between working-class concerns and the interests of the Democrat donor class — resulting in obvious discomfort among the network’s left-leaning contributors.
Citing mainstream polling, Ungar-Sargon pointed out that a majority of Americans support mass deportations. “According to a CNN poll, 54% of Americans, and, according to a CBS poll, 57% of Americans, want every illegal migrant deported,” she said. “It's not a majority want the criminals; a majority want every single one.”

Stop the presses. Gavin Newsom is running for president.
The governor of California has, for months, tried to tell anyone who will listen that he's not a candidate for president. After his nationally televised "save democracy" speech on Tuesday night, there's no mistaking his intent to make a grab for the brass ring.
"California is no stranger to immigration enforcement. But instead of focusing on undocumented immigrants with serious criminal records and people with final deportation orders—a strategy both parties have long supported—this administration is pushing mass deportations," claimed Newsom in his short speech.
I believe that Newsom was attempting to set the record for the most lies, half-truths, and exaggerations

When American leftists throw their tantrums, it’s the same tired routine: looting, rioting, and blocking traffic, all under the delusion that mayhem somehow moves the needle for their cause. And with this weekend shaping up to be another flashpoint, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t staying silent. He’s sending a blunt message to the mob: Try that nonsense here, and you’ll face real consequences. Florida won’t tolerate your street chaos.
DeSantis is preparing for the worst, not hoping for the best — and he’s got the law on his side. Thanks to earlier legislation he championed in the wake of the George Floyd riots,

By now, you know how much I love it when Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) does his thing. He can destroy a left-wing witness in a Senate hearing and expose the incompetence of a Democrat-nominated judge with his unique brand of vicious southern charm.
Kennedy didn’t mince words during a recent Fox News appearance, offering a blunt and unfiltered take on the chaos unfolding in Los Angeles and the failure of Democrat leaders to get it under control. In classic Kennedy fashion, he framed the situation with a cutting metaphor that left little room for interpretation.
"I think all those people [Democrats] need to pop a Zoloft and relax a little bit,"
