Where do you go in Los Angeles on Memorial Day?(snip) And it’s true that memory rests lightly on L.A. But turn east from Sepulveda Boulevard just north of Wilshire,)snip) onto Constitution Avenue, and you immediately recede from the goings and comings of the eternal present and enter a sanctuary of remembrance. (Snip) The traffic of the 405 freeway will continue to hum behind you, but a sacred local silence takes you in, to the company of over 85,000 veterans and their families, some from as far back as the Civil War, who rest in peace here at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.

Many years ago my husband and I visited the American Military Cemetery where Gen. George Patton is buried in Luxemburg. Before you go in there is a reception area where we were greeted by a volunteer. The man shook our hands and told us how happy he was that we were visiting. He told us that some of the men buried there helped to free his country during WW2. He was a young child and could vividly remember the battle that took place. He told us he had great respect for America and the men who fought for them and he considered the men there family. He was honored to be their caretaker. He made me cry and we shared a hug. The cemetery took my breath away. We had never been to a military cemetery before so this was a new experience for us. Knowing that Patton was buried there looking over his troops was comforting. It made me totally rethink the importance of Memorial Day. Just being there brought it all into focus. Thank you to all who sacrificed for America, for us. Thank you to their families. This was a most precious gift you gave us. I will never forget that experience.

This is an absolutely beautiful and detailed description of the Los Angeles National Cemetery. As an native Angeleno, I'm embarrassed to admit I never went there. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and drove, or rode, past it for forty-five years going "over the hill" and never bothered to pay a visit. But, we never passed it while Dad was driving without him pointing out that is where all the hero veterans were buried. I may just pay a visit my next trip south. God bless these souls and all veterans, and may our country's eyes turn in humble gratitude this Memorial Day.

Beautiful photograph. Reminded me a little of the cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach in Normandy, which I visited about ten years ago. It takes your breath away, and you have to fight back tears.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator, said his agency and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have identified at least $14 billion in fraud, waste, and abuse. “There’s about $14 billion we’ve identified with DOGE, of folks who are duly enrolled wrongly in multiple states for Medicaid,” Oz told Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.” As an example, Oz said: “You live in New Jersey, but you move to Pennsylvania, and which state gets your Medicaid? Turns out both states collect money from the federal government.”
Trump says Putin ‘has gone absolutely CRAZY!’ 6 replies

U.S. President Donald Trump called Vladimir Putin "absolutely CRAZY" and said the Russian leader "is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers" in a Truth Social post on Sunday. The comments indicate that Trump's position on the Kremlin is hardening as his attempt to broker an end to the Russian war falters with no breakthrough in sight. The post came after Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine over the weekend, lobbing drones and missiles at 30 cities and villages and killing at least 12 people, including three children.

Russia has continued the operation to secure a “buffer zone” between the held regions in the Eastern part of Ukraine and the area west of the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions. The NATO alliance continues pouring weapons in to support Ukraine defenses, but the Russians are methodically grinding down the Ukrainian military. Volodymyr Zelenskyy is now saying President Trump’s silence is emboldening the Russian assaults. “Each such terrorist attack by Russia is a sufficient reason for new sanctions against Russia. Russia is dragging out this war and continues to kill every day,” Zelensky said in a post on Telegram Sunday morning.

Moscow has claimed that that a “massive” Ukrainian drone attack targeted Vladimir Putin’s helicopter as the Russian leader visited the embattled Kursk region earlier this week. Russian air defence officer Yury Dashkin said on Sunday that Putin’s helicopter was at the “epicentre of an operation to repel a massive drone attack” on Tuesday, state media RT reports. The alleged attack came as the Russian leader visited the Kursk region, which saw the most significant incursion into Russian territory since the Second World War after Ukraine’s forces launched a daring counterinvasion last summer.

I have been requested to update and revisit my outline from summer 2024 when I discussed the potential for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), a position now occupied by DNI Tulsi Gabbard. As a new White House strategy begins to surface, perhaps revisiting what is possible will provide a perspective not often discussed. Confronting a weaponized Intelligence Community is of great interest, because it is a component battle against the main tools of the Fourth Branch of Government. The IC influence is in every policy related to Trump’s domestic and foreign agenda. Taking control and neutering the capabilities of the IC and CIA specifically,

As we often remind ourselves, maintaining a leftist ideology is contingent upon pretending not to know things, and that applies even when you are discussing the opposition not doing something that you yourself never did. During a recent podcast interview, President Obama’s former National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, takes the pretending to stratospheric levels needed in order to retain Obama-level pretending. The criticism she rails against is so hilariously hypocritical I find myself wondering if anyone ever were to call her out, could she even respond.Susan Rice complains about President Trump having a relationship with the duplicitous “Qataris,” who she proclaims are terribly nefarious and dastardly,

The stage is set for a constitutional battle between President Donald Trump and a federal watchdog over the extent of presidential authority on spending, as Trump seeks to make sweeping federal spending and personnel cuts. Trump and administration officials want to reduce existing restrictions on the president’s impoundment power, which allows a president to decline to spend money appropriated by Congress. According to Trump, the Impoundment Control Act of 1974—which requires the president to seek permission to rescind, or officially end, funding—violates the Constitution and the separation of powers. (snip( His critics, meanwhile, say that the White House is transgressing Congress’s power of the purse.

Signs of the Chinese regime’s influence are becoming more prevalent on YouTube, especially in English-language content about China. Paid agitators are flooding comment sections, propaganda videos are being masked as grassroots content, and influencers are being offered cash or crypto to push the regime’s message. Aside from content that artificially boosts the regime’s image, much of the propaganda is aimed at discrediting Beijing’s critics, particularly religious and ethnic minorities persecuted in China, as well as the United States more broadly. Much of the propaganda content on YouTube is hard to trace back to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Many times, it’s produced by American or European

The first pictures have emerged of a North Korean warship seemingly covered in tarpaulin after it capsized and sank in front of dictator Kim Jong Un. Satellite images appear to show the naval destroyer languishing on its side alongside the dock where a launch ceremony had been held. But the launch failed, and analysis of pictures taken on Thursday suggest the ship is now partially submerged and covered with bright blue tarpaulins in an apparent attempt to conceal the wreckage. State media said the the 5,000-ton ship, which had been due to enter service next year, is designed to carry weapons systems including nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles.

Republicans and Democrats don’t use PR the same way. If you’re a Republican, your relationship with the mainstream media is almost always adversarial. They’re an obstacle that must be carefully circumvented — or directly bulldozed — but no conservative since John McCain views ‘em as an ally. At best, they’re a useful foil. At worst? They’re your biggest frickin’ headache. Republicans had to literally build a completely separate ecosystem — Fox News, alternative media (like this site), X.com, and podcasts — just to have a fighting chance. Not so with Democrats. If you’re a tofu-munching liberal, the mainstream media is your ally, best friend, and collaborative partner. You vote the same way;
