Harvard Having Second Thoughts About Leading

Harvard earned a lot of praise last month for standing up to the Trump administration. For example: The Trump administration responded by pulling federal funding, just as it had done previously at Columbia University. Harvard took things up another notch and sued the administration. But even as all this was happening there were reports that, behind the scenes, both Harvard and the administration were looking to make a deal. And by the end of last month, there were signs that Harvard was softening its stance a bit. Harvard will no longer host or fund affinity group celebrations during Commencement

I don't understand why an organization trillions of dollars in debt gives another organization with billions of dollars in savings hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

Harvard grad from the late 1980s here. While both the faculty and students were certainly predominantly liberal, I was conservative and felt free to express my views both in classes and with my peers. Sure there was pushback and debate, but I never felt oppressed or threatened if people found out I liked Reagan or believed in limited government, or thought Israel had a right to exist. I hardly recognize Harvard today, and I can’t imagine that I would feel comfortable there. Furthermore, several of my closest friends were Jewish, including my girlfriend. I’m sure there was antisemitism on campus then, but would literally fear for their physical safety today. The liberal professor who was quoted and who said that driving the few conservative faculty away led to this is absolutely right. I love Harvard for the memories I have there and the friends I made, but I’m not proud of the Harvard of today.

I reckon that if any one of their over-educated administrative staff had ever had to file for IRS 401(c) tax exempt status before, their thoughts would already be several times (higher than 2) through the iteration box. Fill out those forms all over again? YES NO. YES Jump up and swat the hornets nest. Support Hamas over America. NO. Calm down, get rid of radicals and anti-Semites.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has taken steps towards removing gun control activist and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor David Hogg as vice chairman. On Monday, the credentials committee of the DNC voted 13-2 to void the election results from February in which Hogg and Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D) were elected to serve as co-vice chairmen of the DNC, according to the New York Times. The vote comes as Hogg is reportedly planning to “spend up to $20 million” to fund “primary campaigns against incumbent Democrats.” Per the outlet, the decision from the credentials committee came after “three hours of internal debate and one tie vote,”

Planned Parenthood’s newest annual report shows the pro-abortion organization facilitated a record number of abortions, over 402,000, and received more taxpayer funding than ever before. Planned Parenthood’s 2023-24 report says it provided 402,200 abortions during that time period, while receiving $800 million of taxpayer funding, or over $2 million daily. “For yet another year, pregnant women seeking help at Planned Parenthood are sold an abortion 97% of the time, while prenatal services, miscarriage care and adoption referrals make up a minuscule minority of the options they offer. Meanwhile their priorities include their assault on parental rights, transgender treatments, and political spending to defeat Republicans,”

Hamas on Monday released Edan Alexander, the last living American hostage in Gaza, marking a major milestone in the long-running negotiations between Israel, the terror group, and the United States that began when terrorists invaded Israel and kidnapped hundreds of civilians. Alexander, who holds duel Israeli-American citizenship, was handed over to representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Israeli military said. The Red Cross will deliver Alexander to a special Israeli military unit and he will then be taken to a reception facility in Reim for medical and psychological examinations before being reunited with his family and airlifted to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.

President Donald Trump announced early Saturday morning that talks facilitated by the United States have led to a "full and immediate ceasefire" between India and Pakistan. The news comes just days after India launched missile strikes on Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Pakistani military bases, a move escalating tensions after a deadly militant attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir, which India blames on Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks on Indian military targets, marking the most intense conflict between the nuclear-armed neighbors in decades. Both nations accused each other of initiating the attacks, prompting international calls for de-escalation amid fears of a broader war.

Famed Democrat strategist James Carville unleashed a blistering attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) after her controversial comments about white men resurfaced on social media. The outspoken former Clinton advisor didn't mince words at Wednesday's Truth Tellers Summit, where he systematically demolished Omar's inflammatory rhetoric. Omar's comments, which initially came from a 2018 Al Jazeera interview during her congressional campaign, exposed the radical left's disturbing obsession with race-based attacks. In the interview, she outrageously claimed that Americans "should be more fearful of white men" than radical Islamic terrorists because they are "actually causing most of the deaths within this country."

Month after month, the government bean-counters under former-president Biden published overly optimistic estimates for everything from job growth to the size of the economy, only to have those numbers routinely—and quietly—revised down later. These reports matter because the leftist British approach to governance is what the Democrat party desperately wants to see in America. The first story comes from The Telegraph, Britain’s (slightly) right-of-center outlet, and its title says it all:
