Trump asks federal court to intervene
in hush money case in bid to toss conviction,
delay sentencing

Former President Donald Trump asked a federal court late Thursday to intervene in his New York hush money criminal case, seeking a pathway to overturn his felony conviction and indefinitely delay his sentencing next month. Lawyers for the current Republican nominee asked the federal court in Manhattan to seize the case from the state court where it was tried, arguing that the historic prosecution violated his constitutional rights and ran afoul of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent presidential immunity ruling.

Sorry. but anyone who thinks this is "a good article," is either being disingenuous or has failed to grasp the actual facts and circumstances of the New York lawfare case presented by the New York AG James and presided over by the New York state judge, Merchan. The article presents a very slanted perspective, as clearly betrayed by the author's use of the phrase, "hush money case". It has nothing to do with payments of any sort but rather accounting methods uses to disclose them, which was reviewed by the FEC and federal prosecutors who determined that there were NO criminal actions involved. The prosecutions were brought by James who was elected on a platform of prosecuting Trump. "Impartial justice," indeed.

Call me racist, misogynist, xenophobic, etc I care not I notice almost all of Trumps prosecutors are black, women, or immigrants (or children of immigrants) from 3rd world countries. And his accusers are ususlly of ill repute. BTW Trump is a well kniwn germophobe (reluctant to even shake hands and reportedly keeps hand cleaner nearby). Why would he have sexual relations with a porn actress or sexually assault a woman in a public dressing room? non sequitors.

Plus I believe the crooked Judge is trying to delay the hanging ... oops I meant sentencing until after the election for three reasons: 1. To maintain the unconstitutional gag order and allow his daughter to continue to profit from the verdict. 2. So that his Democrat masters can continue to run against this convicted felon. 3. So as not to "close" the trial which would allow Trump's lawyers to begin the appeal process and formally present the complete list of judicial misdeeds by this so-called "Judge. "

Canada, following the lead of the United States and European Union, said on Monday it would impose a 100% tariff on imports of Chinese electric vehicles and announced a 25% tariff on imported steel and aluminum from China. The duties apply to all EVs shipped from China, which would include those made by Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab, a Canadian government official said. Canadian imports of automobiles from China to its largest port, Vancouver, jumped 460% year over year to 44,356 in 2023, when Tesla started shipping Shanghai-made EVs to Canada. "I think we all know that China is not playing by the same rules," he told reporters.

A Kansas judge has dismissed federal machine gun possession charges, including for having a "Glock switch," citing the Second Amendment and recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings in gun rights cases. U.S. District Judge John Broomes on Wednesday dismissed two counts of unlawful possession of a machine gun against Tamori Morgan. Morgan had been indicted by a grand jury in April 2023 in U.S. District Court in Wichita. Broomes wrote that the prosecution "fails to meet its burden to demonstrate that possession of the types of weapons at issue in this case are lawfully prohibited under the Second Amendment."

The strange saga of how two Mexican drug lords were detained after landing in a plane in the United States in July just got stranger. The Mexican government now says it is bringing charges against Joaquín Guzmán López, but not because he was a leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel founded by his father, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Instead, Mexican prosecutors are bringing charges against the younger Guzmán for apparently kidnapping Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada — an older drug boss from a rival faction of the cartel — forcing him onto the plane and flying to an airport near El Paso, Texas.

A federal appeals court ruled that Minnesota's law that bans people ages 18 to 20 from obtaining permits to carry guns is unconstitutional, prompting criticism over Governor Tim Walz's stance on the Second Amendment. "As a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, I welcome the federal appeals court's decision regarding Minnesota's law. This ruling affirms the constitutional rights of all law-abiding citizens to bear arms," Republican Minnesota Rep. Pete Stauber said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "It is crucial, especially at a time when crime rates are a concern, that individuals have the means to protect themselves and their families."
California Must Issue Concealed Carry

A federal judge has ordered California to accept concealed carry applications from out-of-state residents. This victory is the second time a state has been forced to issue out-of-state concealed carry permits this month. Early in August, New York City passed an emergency order to issue permits to non-New York residents to avoid a lawsuit by Gun Owners of America. In this case plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in the United States Central District Court of California. The suit challenges California’s refusal to issue or recognize out-of-state concealed carry permits, the exorbitant fees to obtain a concealed carry permit, the long wait times, the required psychological exam, and the discretionary denials

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett decided that California’s ban on concealed carry permits for non-residents fails standards set forth by Bruen (2022) and Rahimi (2024). Therefore, Garnett, a Joe Biden appointee, issued an injunction against the ban. The case focused on the prohibition against permit issuance to out-of-state residents. Gun Owners Foundation highlighted portions of Garnett’s decision wherein she wrote, “Here, Plaintiffs have… demonstrated that the text of the Second Amendment likely applies to the first of its arguments, that non-residents have the right, like California residents, to apply to lawfully carry firearms for self-defense while in public.”

As armored and ‘maneuver warfare’ emerges in Europe, the one weapon that can pin down enemy steel and infantry, which Ukraine lacks in large numbers, Russia has and the US is fervently potentiating, is the attack helicopter. The stunning Ukrainian incursion into Kursk finally marks the dawn of Western ‘maneuver warfare’ on the front. Fast moving mechanized formations assaulted the frontline ‘screens’, driving deep into the enemy rear, exploiting the lack of Russian defensive preparedness there. But as Western think-tanks like the ISW (Institute for the Study of War) suggest, it is important to capitalize on the “operational surprise,” “restore” maneuver warfare and address the “problems” with “permanent positional warfare.”

Is Kamala Harris having second thoughts about picking Tim Walz as her running mate? If she isn't, she probably should be. A new poll out of Pennsylvania is shedding some light on just how much of an own-goal that was. Before getting there, though, the topline is really good news for Donald Trump, showing him tied in the head-to-head and leading in the five-way matchup (which is more relevant). It appears Harris' momentum has been completely halted, with no perceivable bounce from the DNC. Bob Casey, the Democrat senator up for re-election in Pennsylvania, only being up two points is also a huge result for Republicans.

Maybe President Joe Biden was never a serious member of the Washington, DC, establishment — like the Clintons, the Bushes, or the Obamas — or, maybe, the establishment just had no more use for him. Either way, the knives seem to be out for the Biden family after Joe Biden stepped aside from the 2024 presidential election. One: Hunter Biden accepted $3,101,258 from Romanian partner Gabriel Popoviciu to “influence U.S. government agencies” when Joe Biden served as vice president, Special Counsel David Weiss said in a court filing.

She's been avoiding interviews and press conferences for weeks, and despite finally agreeing to an interview with a friendly network conducted by a friendly host, she still needed her male running mate to accompany her. But it should come as no surprise that a body language expert who analyzed Kamala's performance during the interview told Fox News Digital that Harris lacked both confidence and a presidential demeanor. According to Susan Constantine, Harris frequently looked down during the CNN interview, which suggested that she was “not confident in what she’s saying.”
