Stifling of free speech remains in full force in Great Britain and attempts continue by the worst power-hungry leaders in Europe to extend their self-serving censorship here. Last Monday, Thierry Breton, Commissioner for the EU internal market, warned Elon Musk that the planned Musk-Trump interview could run afoul of the EU’s overreaching online censorship laws. Musk ignored the warning of Mr. Thierry, a man who is the very avatar of “Eurotrash.” (Musk has been threatened by a variety of autocrats around the world for refusing to bow to their censorship dictates.)

I agree with #1. Past Ldotters wouldn't have missed Clarice's weekly columns, read them and posted intelligent Replies. We don't see much of that now. With our country in peril from within and without, there seems to be a malaise. A reluctance to read and comment. To think and formulate and express opinions. What did Pogo say? "We have met the enemy and he is us." An uninformed electorate is a very bad thing...

Well, it's Sunday morning and were still waking up on the West Coast. As for today's piece from Clarice, a bit longer than usual due to the excerpts from Turley, Iowahawk, and an excellent piece from Jeffrey Tucker of the Brownstone Institute (adding him to my favorites). Interesting opinion that a harris win would immediately drive up rents in order to prepare for the coming crisis among landlords.

Richard Nixon’s price and wage freeze may have contributed to our current health insurance inflation. When employers couldn’t retain/promote employees, they offered “benefits”. The demand and ridiculous services covered by these plans soared.

#9 I grew up in nearby Fayette County which is South of Summersville and when my friend and I were driving near there as teens sure enough he got a ticket. That strip of Route 19 has always been a speed trap and lucky for me I never had to go North into Nicholas County. As far as Air Head Harris goes. If that word salad vomiting dimwit gets elected my beloved country is screwed. That cannot be allowed to happen.

My Fondless Farewell to the Worst Human
Being to Serve as President

Joe Biden is easily the worst human being to hold the office of President of the United States of America. The send-off his own party gave him, as ignominious as it was, was still not nearly as ignominious as he deserved. First, Biden was forced out of his reelection campaign, months after he'd "won" the nomination in a rigged primary, by a cabal of insiders including his old boss, Barack Obama. You know, the man who reminded fellow Democrats to "never underestimate Joe's ability to f*** things up." Then his farewell address — angry and disassociated — was bumped out of primetime by an assortment of has-been and never-will-be speakers.

Our government, and a number of other Western governments, are committed to a goal of “net zero.” That is, our countries will add nothing further to the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. Any emissions of CO2 (e.g., breathing) will be balanced by absorption of CO2 by, e.g., plants. Various dates are specified in these aspirational statements, none of them realistic. And of course, the world’s main sources of atmospheric CO2 (China and India now account for most of the world’s CO2 emissions) have no intention of cutting their CO2 emissions, let alone cutting them to net zero. But suppose we did it.

In conservative circles, just a handful of pundits are our intellectual heavyweights: cerebral, highly educated geniuses like Thomas Sowell, Milton Friedman, Victor Davis Hanson, Russell Kirk, and William F. Buckley. You may agree or disagree with their opinions, but they were almost always based on sound reasoning, history, philosophy, and logic. Beneath this tier, you have the one-trick-ponies (like me!) who have specialized knowledge about one or two topics, but lack the vast educational pedigree of the true luminaries. For example, I’m a PR expert. Ask me about PR and I can chew your ears off a la Mike Tyson — and when I do, you should pay close attention,

Happy Tuesday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. (Snip) The Democratic National Committee's treatment of Joe Biden on the first night of the Democratic National Convention was, put mildly, not very respectful. President LOLEightyonemillion was forced to cool his heels long past his bedtime, which Matt first wrote about here. Nothing says, "We still love this guy and there was no coup," like making the President of the United States loll about in the green room while a parade of party lessers comes close to turning his Monday speech into a Tuesday speech. On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied an emergency application by the Biden Administration for partial stays on orders entered by district courts and affirmed by the Fifth and Sixth Circuits. As usual in such cases, the Court’s order was Per Curiam. The order lays out the procedural history succinctly: "The Department of Education recently issued a new rule implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The rule newly defined sex discrimination to “includ[e ] discrimination on the basis of sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, pregnancy or related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity.” 89 Fed. The Harris-Walz ticket, we’re told, is all about joy. Joy. Joy. Joy. Also, it’s about the benefits Democrats create for children, with a special focus on teachers’ unions and Tim Walz’s creepy (but, to Democrats, admirable) focus on LGBTQ+ youth. However, alert people are noticing that the Democrats’ campaign’s slogans, along with their images and ideas, have an uncanny resemblance to some things coming out of really icky regimes, such as the Nazis, the Soviets, and Chinese communists. I’m not saying that the Democrats are ready to commit genocide or open gulags, but it really is weird how leftists always think alike. What’s been pushed down our gullet since Kamala’s launch

The Democrats already froze befuddled Joe Biden out of the presidential campaign, and one can hardly blame them; the Biden reelection effort looked like it was going to deliver the Democrats a catastrophic loss in November. Imagine things being so bad that Kamala Harris looks to be the better alternative! That's where they were, and invoking that big vaudevillian hook from stage left to yank old Joe out of the picture was, candidly, the smart thing to do. Might they go the next step, though, and invoke the 25th Amendment to take the declining President Biden out of the picture altogether? Douglas MacKinnon, opinion contributor at The Hill,

Well it's hardly a surprise that writers at outlets like RedState aren't thrilled with Kamala Harris' Soviet-style economic proposals, but it is startling to see even far-left outlets criticizing the vice president and Democrat presidential nominee because usually she can do no wrong in their eyes. As my colleague Nick Arama wrote, even a Washington Post columnist trashed her ideas in a Thursday op-ed titled (beautifully, I must say), "When your opponent calls you 'communist,' maybe don't propose price controls?" Even CNN—normally a reliable mouthpiece for the DNC—jumped in with two separate segments savaging Kamala's "price gouging" proposals, which seem to come straight out of Venezuela.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ plan to avoid the media because her team laughably thinks that no one pays attention to significant networks or prominent newspapers isn’t going to last. Yes, media is an ever-changing landscape, but solely focusing on TikTok and social media is a surefire way to lose an election. People need to hear ideas and policies that will help them, and Kamala hasn’t offered much. What she has provided is a throwback to Soviet Russia. It’s a window into why her team keeps her from press conferences. The latest pitch to curb inflation is to stomp out price-gouging, which is such

His routine about the Trump assassination attempt on July 13 is funny. It’s now over-the-top—it’s hilarious. Given the subject matter, some might not find it humorous, but I respect comedians who push the limits and go there since not all are successful or good at it. Yet, this one right here is pretty damn good. There was probably high anxiety in the room when he set up the joke.

This is an official Kamala Harris campaign video. It is hard to say what the point is. Kamala ridicules white people for eating food that isn’t spicy. The commercial is a dialogue between Harris and Tim Walz. Walz plays the white guy who eats “white guy tacos.” Walz is the bottom end of this relationship: he humiliates himself by being subservient to Harris, on behalf of (obviously inferior) white people: (X) Playing to idiotic racial stereotypes is commonly known as racism. One wonders how Walz’s fellow Minnesotans will react to his claim that we don’t eat any spices more exotic than pepper. The whole thing is puzzling. Other than reassuring voters

There's a lot of energy in this room, just like there is across the country! Something, something is happening in America! You can feel it. Something we've worked for and dreamed of for a long time. First, though, let's salute President Biden.

Sunday was a banner day for the Harris campaign. After weeks of carefully curated events, the vice president turned presidential nominee went off-script multiple times, reminding Americans why they once ranked her the most unpopular major politician in the country. After delivering a word salad on the "duality of democracy," a line she's used many times before, she then explained to a high school football team that they can be "undefeated" even if they don't win a game. It was vintage Kamala Harris, punctuated by a visit to a gas station that left people wincing. I don't know about you, but I was going to vote for no price controls,
