CNN host Brianna Keilar attacked JD Vance’s record, referring to it yesterday as if it were a trip to a resort. Vance’s deployment wasn’t spring break. It’s not a cushy job either, which was the gross insinuation. It’s well that Maj. Shawn Haney (ret.) came on CNN to shut down the notion that Vance did nothing in Iraq. Haney, a public affairs officer, also corrected Keilar, noting the dangers of being a combat correspondent, citing 130 individuals who did not make it home.[snip for tweets] Also, Keilar didn’t apologize or backtrack but instead engaged—to cite liberals—'bothsideism,’ going on a prolonged monologue about the perniciousness of the attacks on military records.

Common sense will tell you that all US Marines and Soldiers who were on the ground in Iraq during the war there, put their lives at risk. When Vance was there as an enlisted Marine, no matter his military job specialty, his life was at risk. Clearly Walz “bugged out” of his unit before they deployed to Iraq, so he was never in that war zone. If the media really wants to know what happened in Iraq with Vance, and in Minnesota with Walz, the media should be talking with Marines who served in Iraq With Vance, and the other National Guard senior NCO’s who served in the same unit with Walz during that time period.

So now they're resorting to the "good people on both sides" argument to defend their asinine behavior. The libtard media really are garbage, not to mention hypocrites.

All US Marines are trained and considered to be infantrymen first and foremost.

Gee, I thought the CNN talking heads knew everything there is to know about the military. I guess Brianna found out she didn't. Where are the real reporters and hosts?

My nephew was a ranger...did 5 tours, in both Afghanistan and in Iraq. A young man I mentored became a Marine, was in the final week of his 4th tour, in public affairs, taking teams out to small villages, meeting with tribal elders and citizens when his humvee was attacked by and IED and TWO carbombs, killing not just him and most of his team, but a dozen of the villagers, mostly children. He had raised, privately, funds to build, staff, and support three schools in the area where he had operated, The village where he was killed named their school after him. After Biden bugged out...the Taliban blew up that school.
Part of the US "Hearts and Minds", COIN philosophy and doctrines required "communications" specialists to be out in the field, in small teams, in the heart of insurgent areas.
The Dems big three "war Heroes" of the recent era were Algore...a reporter/combat correspondent/scribe in uniform that never saw combat, John Kerry who was in country a mere three months, and inflated his record shamelessly for political purposes, spent the next 30 years bragging about that 3 months while bashing the military, and Beau Biden...who, like Walz ran for office on his National Guard service(as did his father Joe) though he was a LAWYER, not a "soldier", joined up in his 30's, never went through a bootcamp, entered as an Officer, was no where near any combat, he'd just been elected to AG, and was told he didn't need to deploy, but INSISTED upon going for 7 months so that he could draw pay from both positions and polish his resume to run for Joes former office upon return....and eventually run for President.

Ask that moron Brianna Keilar if she's ever heard of Dickey Chapelle.
On second thought, don't even bother.

A my daughter's friend was in the Air Force. He guarded an air base and/or airport in Iraq.
I count that as putting his life at risk.

#6 - Your first paragraph caused these tears running down my cheeks. God bless and rest the gentle soul of the good, young Marine you mentored. TK's a Marine; volunteered for a second tour in Vietnam in '67, taking the place of a buddy who just got married. He survived his Democrat-made Hell Hole, and 57 years later our young men and women are still dieing in Democrat-made Hell Holes half-way across the globe only to line the pockets of the military-industrial complex. The shameful bug out of Vietnam was but a pale foreshadowing of the tragic Biden withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Your compilation of Dem celebrated "war heroes" perfectly encapsulates their conception of the purpose for the armed services. Its an organization where the elites get to wear pretty uniforms, get fancy titles, order people around and have a great entry on their resumes. Other than that, the really messy bits of war and fighting are left to the lower classes. Of course, when there has been a big battle or attack that warrants public displays of patriotism, service and loyalty to the military is their number one priority! Motherless children, one and all.

To that list of Public Affairs Officers, the folks whose service is dismissed as mere "Correspondents" who lost their lives in theater, add the name West Point graduate Lieutenant Laura Walker of Texas who was killed by an IED on the Tarin Kowt Road, and the QRF (Quick Reaction Force) commanded by my son could not get to them in time to save her life. Yeah, "Correspondents," what a candy-a** job they have.

How long has CNN masqueraded as a news organization instead of the main intent, i.e., entertainment. Not even info-tainment?

#8, I am not certain what point you are trying to get across but if it is what I think it is, I have a couple of things to say. Tim Walz LIED about what he was doing. Yes I get that your daughter's friend was in the Air Force and that he guarded an air base and/or airport in Iraq. I also get that it is considered putting one's life at risk. I strongly agree with you that any position that you are deployed to can put you at risk. Tim Walz didn't need to lie to people about what he did. Tim Walz chose to embellish what he actually did. Have you listened to the video clip of Nancy Pelosi talking about Tim Walz?
I have a problem with his embellishments. . .
