Neuroscientists blame racism for black
women aging faster

Stress on the body caused by racism may cut African American women’s lives short, according to a recent study by neuroscientists at Harvard and Emory universities. Their research, published in the journal JAMA Network Open in June, found a connection between “higher self-reported racial discrimination” and “DNA methylation age acceleration” among black women. “Racism steals time from people’s lives – possibly because of the space it occupies in the mind,” lead researchers Negar Fani and Nathaniel Harnett wrote in an article this week at The Conversation. Fani is a professor at Emory and Harnett at Harvard, both in the areas of psychiatry and neuroscience.

Abortion is stressful and Black American women must be one of the most-aborted populations on Earth. It is too much to process.

Maybe they age faster because they have babies out of wedlock and their Baby Daddies don't help them support the children causing them to have to raise their children alone. Or, maybe it's their belief in the fallacy that everything bad that happens to them is due to racism instead of because of poor choices they have made. Or maybe it's because they drink more and do more drugs. All this is to say, there is no way to validate this is true without comparing women with exactly the same life experiences good or bad.

NO! Black women are just plain mean and being mean is stressful. Don't believe me? Couples on TV commercials are 92.7% black man/white woman, 7% black man/black woman. Black men KNOW Black women are just plain mean and they don't want a relationship with one of .them. Advertising/marketing folks know that.

Here's an even sillier idea: The reason that more men present a limp wristed, light in the loafers aspect is the run-off from all our years of birth-control pills floating around in the drinking water. Women were already feminine. Men, not so much. Look out for Nikita Khrushchev's other shoe. There is "bury you" and then there's Bury You !

Hardly anything close to scientific when you have all sorts of hedge words and phrases like the following: racism may cut (key word is MAY) possibly because of the space (not sure so use possibly to make it sound like it could be plausible) They studied 90 women and found those who reported (not likely anywhere near the whole group but is undefined by these "researchers") “more frequently exposed to racism showed stronger connections in brain networks involved with rumination and vigilance,” Seriously doubt there is very much racism today as there was in say 1965 or 1930, for instance. Who's more apt to remind of past issues and that "those people" are out to get you, or "they want to throw you back into chains"? Simply to incite rumination for some and excite vigilance.

A better headline would be, "A Study of Black Women Suggests That Thinking You Are a Victim Speeds Up Aging." There is no attempt to objectively determine if the women were victims of racism in the study. They merely identified that women who more frequently THOUGHT they were the victims of racism aged faster than women who less often interpreted their experiences as being the result of racism. Now, that does not mean that those women were not the victims of racism, it just means that those conducting the study do not know if they were or not.
